RISING UP THE RANKS: It took the ODU Football Monarchs until year three and 27 games to receive its first Top 25 2011 POST SEASON ranking on October 3, 2011, coming in at No. 21 in The Sports Network Poll. Last season, the Monarchs made 11 blocked kicks, which according to an unofficial poll of FCS schools led the nation for the most blocks by a school last season.

The captains for the Football Monarchs for the upcoming 2012 season include redshirt senior linebacker Craig Wilkins, redshirt senior defensive lineman Chris Burnette, and sophomore quarter- back Taylor Heinicke.

Wilkins is serving his fourth term as team captain, while Burnette and Heinicke are in their first seasons as captains.

"Our captains are selected based on their leadership skills on and off the field," said Wilder.
