customer service at Premier Furnished Solutions

We asked our Resident Coordinator, Elvisa Dervisevic, why she thinks 98.9% of our residents were completely satisfied... I have been a customer service representative for many years and it is a job I love doing. I enjoy making our clients feel comfortable with their housing while providing them with continuous support and availability for their needs. Premier has excellent customer service standards in which our representatives are encouraged to be pro-active in our approach. We ensure thorough inspections and quality checks by our Inspectors prior to move-ins to provide our customers with a smooth transition. When our customers do contact us for assistance, we work to quickly and efficiently solve their customer service requests.

Customer service is not an easy task, but it is a rewarding experience. I have the opportunity to make a difference, however small, in the lives of people who have decided use Premier for their housing needs.

office yoga

Namaste right here...

Yoga provides a retreat from our busy lives by offering mental and physical benefits. The relaxation I attain with proper breathing, while focusing on stretching out tight muscles, has helped me develop an inner awareness that was absent in my life. Yoga has given me strength of mind and body. You might have read that some benefits include; better body image, healthier heart muscle and circulation, mindfulness of eating and weight control. I can attest to these over the years while wearing out my yoga mats. The best thing about Yoga is that you can practice yoga anywhere!!!

Begin your practice today!

events A Visit From Pope Francis

New York City plays host for many powerful people but none can compare with Pope Francis. The Pope will arrive in NYC on Thursday, September 24th and has quite a busy schedule lined up. Shortly after his arrival, He will lead Evening Prayer at a Vespers service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 6:45. On Friday, September 25th he speaks at the United Nations General Assembly in the morning, then heads to the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center for a multi-religious service at 11:30. From the World Trade Center, Pope Francis heads up to East Harlem to visit Our Lady Queen of Angels school and ends his day with a Mass at Madison Square Garden. He departs for Philadelphia on Saturday morning.

Pope Francis was born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires in 1936, the oldest of five children. In 1958, he entered the Society of Jesus and began to study for the priesthood. In December of 1969 he was ordained a priest. On May 20, 1992, Pope John Paul II appointed him the Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires. In 1998 he succeeded Cardinal Quarracino as the Archbishop of Buenos Aires and later, in 2001, Pope John Paul II made him a cardinal.

While he was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, he began a missionary project which focused on communion and evangelization. In addition to evangelization, they focused on helping the poor. Bergoglio has always been a strong supporter and defender of the poor, as well as a staunch defender of the Church’s traditional teachings.

Pope Francis was elected the 266th pope on March 13, 2013. He is the first non-European pope elected since the year 741, and he is the first member of the Jesuit order to become pope. The Argentinean cardinal chose the name Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, after his friend, Cardinal Hummes, embraced him in the conclave and said “Don’t forget the poor,” which immediately made him think of St. Francis, a man of poverty.

ear-holes anonymous A Quarterly Music Column by Ross Remmel The never-ending summer continues with live music in the great outdoors! No, it’s not the outdoors that you see on the Discovery Channel, but NYC event organizers are making great use of their urban outdoor environment to host a variety of musical events.

Flashback to June with me… Governors Ball on Randal’s Island played host to thousands of party-enthusiasts over a 3-day festival. The overlapping sets on three different stages made the weekend into a marathon of entertainment. The sheer size of the event made you feel pretty tiny compared to the massive horde in attendance. All genres of music were represented and most performers were there to play in front of their biggest audience ever. Whether it was an electronic DJ Deadmau5, confident and bold rapper Drake, or Icelandic fairy-princess Bjork, the sound was enormous and the vibes were good!

Too much of anything can be bad for you! So consider smaller doses of live music in changing environments on your upcoming calendar.

PIER 97

The Hudson River will play a hosting background to a handful of upcoming events at different piers along the water. Pier 97 stretches way-out onto the Hudson River and the stage is set with the band playing facing New Jersey. I was here for the alternative and always dynamically quirky rock band Primus at the end of July. The city skyline looms over the stage to give an incredible backdrop to any event here. Upcoming shows include The Counting Crows and Citizen Cope.

Ticket info can be seen here.

PIER 84

A few knots down the river is Pier 84, where another ongoing music stage is hosting events throughout the season. I did catch a mid-July show here where the modern grunge-rock band Speedy Ortiz played to a nice crowd of 20- somethings aside of the behemoth-sized Intrepid vessel docked right next to the stage. The Intrepid commands your attention while the Hudson River and New Jersey sunset mellow the view behind the stage. The Hudson River Rocks free concert series comes to an end on Thursday, August 6th with another sunset-show featuring pop- alternative rocker/songwriters Yuck, and the ambient sound singing of U.S. Girls.

New events like movie screenings and outdoor activities are happening regularly as a part of the Hudson River Park event schedule that you can see here.

SUMMERSTAGE

Go ahead and try to keep up with the ongoing SummerStage program that continues to provide free outdoor shows at many locations throughout New York City. Now in its 30th year of production, SummerStage is hosting almost 200 artists in 16 different neighborhood parks. I just made it to East River Park (under the Williamsburg Bridge) to see the Harlem-based hip hop collective group Ratking. SummerStage combines such a variety of music styles in so many different public park locations that you can be a tourist to new neighborhoods and to the arts… for free!

food & drinks

Frying Pan 530 W 26th Street Link to Website

If there is one thing that is synonymous with Summer in NYC, it would be enjoying a drink outdoors. Despite Summer nearing its end, there is still plenty of time to get your fix. Basque in the Hudson breeze while sipping on some white sangria at the Frying Pan. This docked Coast Guard lightship is a favorite among many New Yorkers because of its considerable size, vibrant crowd and moderate price for drinks and food. You may have to wrestle for seating or a comfortable spot, but hey… it’s New York! Barcade Various Locations Link to Website

Whoever thought of putting an arcadium and bar together in one place deserves our respect! I’ve made it a mission of mine to check out the three locations of the very popular Barcade. Whether it’s in Williamsburg, St. Mark’s Place, or Chelsea –step into the 80’s and find your inner-child with classic favorites of the early Atari and Nintendo era, such as Ms. Pacman, Galaga, Donkey Kong and more! All that while you can take in some delicious craft brew. Food is offered only in the Chelsea and St.Mark’s locations, but Williamsburg is the original Barcade and worth the visit. If losing in Tetris gets you down, then refuel by having the Roasted Duck Nachos! The Barcade in Chelsea is my personal favorite, but if you ever find yourself in need of some fun and beer on the other side of the Hudson… there is also one in Jersey City. — Steven Avalos Client Services Manager
