Page 11 What more do you feel could be done within a clean, green and attractive environment to be proud of?

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill you could do more Weaponness & Ramshill You - the Council cannot do much more expect ???? ???? where ab?? The general public should be more responsible for their actions Wate and recycling household are good but ive noticed more flytipping, visitors & residents dropping rubbish, leaving nappys. Dog dirt on Weaponness & Ramshill streets. The local sea waters seem to regularly fail to reach the levels of cleanliness that others around the coast seem to achieve, obviously a Weaponness & Ramshill cause of concern for a holiday seaside resort. The grass is left to get too long in many places - eg along Esplanade. Too much litter around (I bought my own litter picker recently). We Weaponness & Ramshill need more regular street cleaning - especially along road sides, public gardens and parks, and the seafront areas. Weaponness & Ramshill talk it up more. restore fading monuments Weaponness & Ramshill Street parking Weaponness & Ramshill Street cleaning - signage - dog mess - pavements - gull mess - litter - commercial ??? and ??? not left on street e.g Grand Hotel Weaponness & Ramshill Strategic vision for the Borough followed by investment. Weaponness & Ramshill Stop using one off plastic - zip ties/laminated/signs actively target one area and clean/litter pick Weaponness & Ramshill Stop promoting a fraud: climate change Weaponness & Ramshill Stop cutting down trees ie on the South Cliff just to improve the view! We are supposed to be planting them. Shocking Weaponness & Ramshill some area are very unkempt invest in them i.e. the mere Weaponness & Ramshill SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE INTRUSION BY CARS.

Send the road sweeper round the green space on Belmont Road every week! have the dog warden walk through our green space visibly and at random times, this lets people know that littering and dog fouling are nasty and unnecessary - what can the Council do about Crown Terrace, Marine Residence, The Marley, Ink, Gringos, Villa Esplanade, Albion Road, the back of the , South Street, the cut through between Marine Residence and the Cumberland Hotel, cut back the shrubbery, remove litter, light this area Weaponness & Ramshill up - these areas need improving or something. Removing shrubbery around the Spa Chalet has opened up the vista, tidied the area up and there are now no areas where nee'r do wells can lurk or leave their drug paraphernalia - excellent result - thank you! Thank you for installing the heritage light on the ramp down to the Spa Chalet steps - these refurbishments make all the difference! Make good signposts and road/path signs by cleaning up or repainting, fix cracked steps, remove more trees and shrubbery skirting Birdcage Walk.

Weaponness & Ramshill See previous response Weaponness & Ramshill Restoring old property (see previous question) and being careful with new building projects, they should not be built on green spaces. Weaponness & Ramshill regular street cleaning Weaponness & Ramshill Regular cutting of verges. Removing litter from steep slopes below Esplanade Weaponness & Ramshill Regular cleansing of streets in the town Planting of trees More bins - better ones strategically placed Weaponness & Ramshill recycle food waste from individual households Weaponness & Ramshill Rationalise the duplication of double decker buses used, going around the bay

Page 12 Weaponness & Ramshill Radically thinking about how parks and public spaces can be owned, managed and delivered by the community and not the town hall Weaponness & Ramshill Protect conservation areas and parks Prevent fly tipping and make it easier for people top get to tips.Create more bin emptying in town and prevent seagulls from attacking Weaponness & Ramshill people and creating mayhem in town. Plug into Car Club Coastal.... Tying in with the government's aim of no new non electric cars on the road by 2035, proactively work with a Car Club provider on electric only car club provision (building on Nottingham taxis pilot of electric charging points in road surface). Targets: reduce number of resident's privately owned cars by 50% by 2025; reduce emissions; greener borough. Giving incentives for Weaponness & Ramshill those who rarely use their cars (just once every ten days or so for shopping/dump runs etc) to trade in their parking permit for car club membership instead. A fairly self-contained very walkable town like Scarborough might be perfect for this. Ties in with greener coast theme (also frees up more parking spaces for visitors - perennial problem). Should go hand-in-hand with initiatives investing in increased walking and cycling and review of (electric) buses which could run into the evening...... please be more caring creating smoke free areas ie no woodburners in allocated ares for people with severe breathing difficulties as i Weaponness & Ramshill havent found enviromental health dept to be caring or helpful Weaponness & Ramshill pavement cleaning in town more action taken to prevent/clean up dog fouling Weaponness & Ramshill Ongoing maintenance of gardens should have a little more priority Nothing. The investment needs to be in bringing tourists with a higher spend and improving connection and job prospects. Raising aspirations. Spending money on bins and dog wardens is proven etc is consistently proven to have little effect. There's too many shops Weaponness & Ramshill on the seafront selling plastic rubbish and shops that sell food in disposable wrappers. Scarborough will always have a litter problem while these places dominate. Invest in art, culture and heritage and do more to utilise natural assets then more gentle visitors will come who will care for the environment in a much better way. Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing Weaponness & Ramshill Not sure Weaponness & Ramshill not sure Weaponness & Ramshill No idea what is being done now! Weaponness & Ramshill Much more street cleaning Fine litter louts Weaponness & Ramshill Mostly good but South Cliff gardens, North Bay grass land and used to be better would be very expensive to get right. Weaponness & Ramshill More staff Weaponness & Ramshill More regularly cleaning Restoration of fitted pavements and of grass verges Weaponness & Ramshill more litter pickers in town center Weaponness & Ramshill More litter bins. Weaponness & Ramshill More involvement of the public More investment be given to area around Spa. It is dark and depressing with broken down buildings and beach huts. Compared to north Weaponness & Ramshill side how can we attract visitors. Weaponness & Ramshill More incentives to not use cars, better and additional public transport Weaponness & Ramshill More incentives for those who do not respect spaces to be involved in up keep and improvements schemes education involvement Weaponness & Ramshill More dog wardens/too much dog mess on the pavements Weaponness & Ramshill More dog wardens Police on foot day and night Litter fines

Page 13 Weaponness & Ramshill More detailed recycling, engaging businesses with recycling. More bins on beaches especially recycling ones Weaponness & Ramshill More cctv cameras to stop litter thrown out of cars. Weaponness & Ramshill Maintain buildings and public areas.

Litter is the main concern which relies upon the local population to take their responsibility. Perhaps more could be done to encourage this. Anti social behaviour is another concern with end of the spa bridge, broken glass and throwing of bottles cans etc into the gardens under the Esplanade Hotel. I would not feel safe walking in this area on my own at nightfall. Community police could patrol more. The bin situation outside the Grand Hotel is also not acceptable. Such an iconic building being treated as a dumping ground and bird nesting sanctuary. This becomes a nightmare to get pass with seagull droppings and squawking. Cannot pressure be put on the owners to do Weaponness & Ramshill something to improve the site. It is a health hazard once the seagulls begin to nest. We have taken photographs of the buildings which appear to need improving which perhaps councillors are not aware of! The work completed on the cliffs on the Esplanade has to be commended, greatly improved. The gardens down Belmont Road are well cared for and the borough council's gardeners need to be complemented on the care taken in repairing fences and generally keeping the area looking tidy. Shame the dog walkers don't take as much care! It would be nice to see the momentum for general improvement continue.

Weaponness & Ramshill Less money spent on the seafront area and more in local areas Weaponness & Ramshill Keep streets free from litter/seagull droppings etc/cull pigeons and seagulls I've seen coloured bin bags supplied to some dwellings, but when these are left on the street for collection, the bags are ripped open by Weaponness & Ramshill gulls or other animals. Maybe the bags should be put in to a separate collection point which is animal proof. Do a follow-up clean after the waste has been collected and on windy days Weaponness & Ramshill Increase initiatives re rubbish collection and recycling. Take more care of the beaches and reduce water pollution.

I feel a lot more can be done to help people, both residents and tourists, to dispose of their rubbish in a responsible way. Many people need to be encouraged to change their attitude towards it to start with. Some people are very "touchy" about the rubbish issue - they have the attitude that everything that gets thrown away (including good re-useable things) is rubbish - end of - it goes in the bin to be taken away - out of sight out of mind! Yet, they tend to be among the first to complain when it ends up "kicking about" in the street. Weaponness & Ramshill Many people just can't understand that this happens because the bins get overloaded (green ones in particular) - often because things (packaging etc) aren't crushed down and the rubbish isn't bagged up, property, so it gets raided by animals and blown about by the wind. A clean, green environment is a two-way thing, between the public and the Council. The Council can't do everything. The problem is how best to go about getting people to be more responsible without them feeling they're being told what to do.

Weaponness & Ramshill Grass cutting on village green Weaponness & Ramshill GET RID OF THE SEAGULLS Weaponness & Ramshill Get rid of the litter and dog poo Weaponness & Ramshill Enforcements on fly tipping, crack down on bad dog owners litter picks. Weaponness & Ramshill Enforce dog fouling fine. (I am a dog owner) Enforce littering fine. More waste bins - none in south bay and old pool. Weaponness & Ramshill Employ more gardeners to help keep our green environment clean and attractive. Weaponness & Ramshill Doing more were derelict land/space e.g. Kinderland site Weaponness & Ramshill Dog fouling on South Cliff, particularly during winter months when situation worsens Weaponness & Ramshill do not know

Page 14 Decarbonising our infrastructure. Working to reduce vehicles - drastic work to improve active, sustainable travel is needed and would help meet multiple goals (health for example). Working with local fishing and farming communities to enhance transition to green Weaponness & Ramshill economy. Investment in circular economy principles for new infrastructure. Working with tenants and business rate payers to achieve the same at a smaller level. Enhance habitat for wildlife - rather than anti-seagull campaigns. Cycle paths are not maintained don't join up, not advertised sufficiently, recycling is not achieved appropriately, bus service and trains Weaponness & Ramshill poor Weaponness & Ramshill Cutting back hedges blocking pavement please. Weaponness & Ramshill Could we recycle more? i.e. food, foil etc Concentrate on reducing cars to the town, create better/cheaper public transport and encourage cycling/walking. Create a 5 year/10 year Weaponness & Ramshill plan aimed at getting cars off the road/park at park and ride/incentives to use public transport. Climate resilience involves future-proofing the borough by using green infrastructure to benefit well-being (better, user friendly micro- Weaponness & Ramshill climates and diverse open spaces), water (improving SUDs) and wildlife (net biodiversity gain including improvement connectivity). I would like the borough to develop and implement a comprehensive climate-resilient GI strategy Weaponness & Ramshill Clear rubbish and pest control - rats visible daily! Weaponness & Ramshill clear promenades of sand Cleaning and maintaining parks and gardens, in particular the cliff areas. South cliff trees etc are full of plastic pollution, there are things Weaponness & Ramshill like armchairs visible on the Castle cliffs etc. Nothing is done to keep these areas clean. Streets are filthy in the summer season in particular. Weaponness & Ramshill Clean streets of dog waste and litter Clean areas not only in tourist areas but residents as well, bought a property in st martins sq last year and dissapointed to see several Weaponness & Ramshill derelict properties plus squats in a derilict hotel. As iam agardener very impressed by your bedding etc on the Eslplanade but hedges bushes overgrown near Red Lea Blue bin recycling not comprehensive enough. Why not take aluminium foil for instance or as in Nottinghamshire have a small bag to put Weaponness & Ramshill spent batteries in to put on top of the blue bin?. Weaponness & Ramshill Bins on some street litter - horrendous sleeping in door ways - leaving rubbish. Town centre needs cleaning. All I care about is wildlife and keeping wild spaces wild. Don't go chopping everything down just for a view. We need so many more trees to take away car particulates. I litter pick on south cliff and the beach. Don't build any more- keep green spaces, bring back trees in town. Weaponness & Ramshill Gardens are being quietly cut back on. Tree chopping- awful. T/centre- London is better than here. Plant trees, flowers everywhere- seed on verges, hedges, shrubs. Weaponness & Ramshill advertising to promote this idea on bill boards on public transport

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill You make out like we should be doing more. I already do. You pay people to do the jobs apparently yet you never see them doing much of anything Weaponness & Ramshill Yes. Weaponness & Ramshill Yes Weaponness & Ramshill Woodland cleans /education in schools. We pick up litter, help to clear drains, pick up drink cans, bottles, takeaway food debris and wrappers. We have provided the receipt with times of a Weaponness & Ramshill takeaway drive in person left on the street but no action was taken by the Council. The Council must take action on behalf of their ratepayers

Weaponness & Ramshill We already participate in as many of these things as we can We already fully recycle and compost as much as we can... garden cuttings etc., veg and fruit peel and cuttings. We do not use the garden waste service Weaponness & Ramshill having four compost bins. Weaponness & Ramshill the use of old neglected buildings these are an eysore Weaponness & Ramshill Stop visitors feeding gulls as they mess up the sea front. Weaponness & Ramshill Overgrown alleys need clearing please. our efforts are limited by our age (almost 70) - have wanted to plant colourful perennial plants in our area and even offered to provide some funds - but Weaponness & Ramshill there seemed to be no mechanism available for this - bulbs only suggested - we already have them (and they are lovely!) Weaponness & Ramshill Not really Weaponness & Ramshill not quite able Weaponness & Ramshill Not much time left after all my voluntary work Weaponness & Ramshill NO - I AM IN MUY 70s AND NOT AS FIT AS I USED TO BE. Page 16 My grandchildren and their friends have formed a group called Jets, and they collect litter and encourage people to use bins. we collect litter from the Weaponness & Ramshill gardens and beach when out walking. Weaponness & Ramshill Mostly good and better than most of country. Weaponness & Ramshill More community schemes to rejuvenate large park & green areas currently neglected. Lot's but you need a much more dynamic process to unlock the time, talent & treasures of your local communities e.g. CAVCA & Totally Socially (which Weaponness & Ramshill should be supported & empowered by SBC) Weaponness & Ramshill lobby for roadside electric vehicles recharging points It's not about "me", you are barking up the wrong tree. Beach cleans are a waste of everyone's time if you have dozens of businesses down the seafront Weaponness & Ramshill selling bottles of pop in plastic, cheap & disposable plastic toys, chips in polystyrene wrappers. Until changes are made at a systemic level, please don't ask normal citizens here to do more. Weaponness & Ramshill Increase number of litter bins in the town centre and at the beaches. Increase the collections of these. Increase initiatives to deal with fly tipping. Weaponness & Ramshill Implement an even clearer guidance/information programme to facilitate understanding of recycling.

Weaponness & Ramshill I'm a sustainability professional and am a Building with Nature accredited assessor and Associate so could offer professional help-in-kind

Weaponness & Ramshill I'm 87 If fines are not already issued to households who do not recycle or misuse recycle bins - they should be imposed or increased! Fines for people who drop Weaponness & Ramshill litter/ fly tip/ dog fouling etc.! I've been walking a lot around the town and both bays recently and the state of the pavements with dog mess is completely unacceptable!! i would give everyone a leaflet as set out by central government to let them know the dangers of wood burning stoves as it contains carbon monoxide and Weaponness & Ramshill particulate matter 2.5 Weaponness & Ramshill I recycle everything, do not use plastic in kitchen bins- use paper like my parents did. They had SO little rubbish. Weaponness & Ramshill I don't fly...... (no matter how hard I flap my arms!) Weaponness & Ramshill I beach clean already. Weaponness & Ramshill I am 77 so there is a limit to what I can physically offer but I am willing to improve my garden. Others can too. Weaponness & Ramshill I already do these things, concentrate on those who do not. Weaponness & Ramshill I already do these things I already do everything possible to fight climate emergency. I can't do more governments must CHANGE THE SYSTEM asking individuals to "do their bit" Weaponness & Ramshill is misleading and will result in negligible change.

environmental things is really undermining the climate crisis and sustainability agenda. We need comprehensive and concerted bold action. It's not all about the bins and the lightbulbs but about a shift in mentality about what a sustainable Scarborough looks like. There's a real danger shifting the Weaponness & Ramshill responsibility onto the individual on this - we need to look at the biggest polluters, the biggest areas of responsibility. As for what I'm prepared to do - I'm always open to new suggestions as this one is SO important. We need to get people out of their cars, travelling more responsibly, switching to green energy suppliers, eating less meat, holding businesses and governments to account for their role too.

Educate the public to be responsible for dropped/thrown litter/dog excrement and generally 'picking up and taking home litter and depositing dog waste Weaponness & Ramshill appropriately

Considering joining the Litter Pick initiative run by the Daily Mail. Would love to recycle but the apartment block we live in are not encouraged to recycle Weaponness & Ramshill according to the council. I am prepared to e mail you the photos of the unsightly buildings which greet tourists on the south side!

Community vegetable plots where local people would tend the land and grow the vegetables and the whole local community would be able to harvest the Weaponness & Ramshill crop. Weaponness & Ramshill Already do what I can Weaponness & Ramshill Already do this Weaponness & Ramshill Already committed. Weaponness & Ramshill All good ideas but I'm nearly 77

Page 25 What more do you feel could be done within vibrant town centres?

Ward Comment I understand high streets everywhere are struggling but it would be nice if Scarborough could attract new stores and big name stores (River Island, Primark, H&M - just as a few examples). This would give people greater choice and encourage people not to go to York/ Weaponness & Ramshill Leeds/ Hull for a day of shopping. Too many cafe's opening up - better than shops being empty - but how many cafe's does one town need? The town centre is horrible with loads of boarded up shops and the shopping experience in general is very poor with a lack of decent Weaponness & Ramshill shops and choice. Weaponness & Ramshill See previous answers

Weaponness & Ramshill many cities I have lived in have a focal point which shows the town off to its best

Weaponness & Ramshill DON'T KNOW.

More police present to make you feel safe. People in town centre under influence of drink or drugs and associated anti social behaviour ony encourage me to avoid the town centre. Scarborough town centre (with the exception of a few places such as Falsgrave, Victoria Weaponness & Ramshill Rd and especailly Barr street) is a dismal, scruffy and down-market place. On the whole, going into town is restricted to only necessary journeys. Stephen Joseph Theatre is a little gem in the town. More imaginative approaches to empty shops - use the entrepreneurial and creative spirit and energy that exists within the borough to Weaponness & Ramshill enable small business/individual to try out ideas rent-free as entrepreneurial/creative hubs...... Who knows, if their ideas work they might move onto a commercial rent basis. Cleaner town centre. More independent shops. Whitby streets ahead of Scarborough. Cmas lights were an improvement this year. Weaponness & Ramshill Market is also much better. Keep doing more. We need to bring people into the town. It’s got to be a positive experience otherwise people will steer clear. Addressing anti social behaviour too.

The street markets are woeful. Selling cheap items. More should be done to engage with local makers and artisans here. The market hall is seriously underutilised. The nightlife economy is really weak. Few mid-range restuarants. Few mature bars where working people can meet for a drink after 5pm. Too many cars, fast roads through the town centre that are offputting for pedestrians. The Weaponness & Ramshill worst thing about the town centre, in my opinion, is vehicles still using the High Street even though it is pedestrianised. There are constant van deliveries, cars with hazards on, workmen in vehicles etc. It's just doesn't feel safe or pleasant. The area around Aberdeen Walk where it meets the High Street is particularly bad, with cars speeding along and many narrow misses with pedestrians.

Stop street clutter: A-Boards and merchandise blocking pavements. Too many advertising banners on railings and balconies. Clean Weaponness & Ramshill street furniture. Weaponness & Ramshill Attract more independent businesses by giving good rates and incentives

Weaponness & Ramshill Some past buildings are far from attractive, as are areas of unused, almost derelict buildings.

Page 26 Weaponness & Ramshill fill empty premises with decent shops not endless charity shops

Weaponness & Ramshill High streets are dead as the business rates are insane. Well done you single handedly killed the high street. Net contributes to that but. decorate empty shop windows with adverts for town events are business rates too high? The town centre is kept fairly clean and tidy, Weaponness & Ramshill but other places are decidedly scruffy and some residential properties look uncared for. Weaponness & Ramshill Lower rates in shops to make it more affordable for local businesses to operate Difficult to know what can be done with the current fiscal situation (bankruptcies, empty shops, drug use, homelessness, low job Weaponness & Ramshill prospects and now coronavirus) Weaponness & Ramshill Need to attract non retail to town centres to replace closing shops and attract people in the evening. Cinema, Bowling alley etc.

Weaponness & Ramshill address shop closures and build a town centre cinema

Compulsory purchasing, open up properties above shops for private tenancies, actual zoning of areas (so you don’t get a baby clothes Weaponness & Ramshill shop adjacent to a club), heavily green the town centre. It’s also too easy and too accommodating to drive cars through town.

1.Need to improve state of main area, especially Newborough & Eastborough including attractive communal spaces to break the long street up and give it definition 2. Consider visual impact of new buildings in the town and make them a high quality architectural contribution (can still be modern in style) not boxes that look as if they belong on an industrial estate viz Premier Inn at Alpamare, current disproportionate Flamingoland design in about THE most visually sensitive space in Scarborough. 3. Love the Market and use it weekly but it needs improved surroundings to draw people down there. 4. Build on street entertainment and acts, events to give a buzz. Nice to have events in the Open Air Theatre but that doesn't get people into our main shopping area. We cannot afford to lose Weaponness & Ramshill Debenhams and M&S as anchors. Pressure government finally to sort out business rates. 5. Be aware that the streetscapes above the shop frontages in both town centre and Sandside are are distinctive, historical and DIFFERENT from other places. Capitalise on this, bring up to scratch, get people living there. The view across the South Bay is particularly an example of this with Sandside properties backed up by the Old Town. 6. Scarborough has been my home for 2 years now and I love it and long for it to shine as much as it can. Definitely keep all the traditional things on the beach and Sandside but also bear in mind that its beauty is not always emphasised enough, the elegance is still there above the shops. A glowing example of contribution to the town centre is the SJT's refurbishment, which lifts my spirits every time I pass it. Well we all know what is required and perhaps in the general thinking some things need to be simpler as to what can be done now to improve, ' mighty oaks out of acorns grow!' General encouragement in cleaner streets, less chewing gum on the lovely new pavement Weaponness & Ramshill surfaces, Road cleaning seen to be done more often might encourage people to take more pride. Smaller business rates to encourage entrepreneurs, therefore a variety of smaller shops. Whitby shines at this, Scarborough doesn't. Again, not sure as I'm a fairly recent resident. The work being done on the Italian Gardens is fantastic, the walkability of Scarborough is very good plus the parking permit provision for residents. The high street being closed to through traffic is excellent and there is a great Weaponness & Ramshill variety of local centres and service shops out of the main centre. Helping the independents to stay viable and keep going really adds to Scarborough's character and sense of place so getting the balance of larger chains and local suppliers needs to be right. The market hall is a great asset, beautiful building.

Page 27 More public seating in the town centre - to encourage social engagement and draw more marginalised groups e. g. the elderly and less Weaponness & Ramshill mobile into the centre. where are the seats that were removed - not all put back. Need to reduce gulls and pigeons, pavements are dirty, in town centre, opposite the library, loft like set up,+. side of the grand hotel Weaponness & Ramshill entertainment in town centre, colour, flowers/streamers Reduce business rates, make the town centre come to life with people volunteering on a regular basis to help visitors to the town in Weaponness & Ramshill summer etc, More incentives for town centre business rather than investing in out of town retail. Better sustainable transport links into/out of town Weaponness & Ramshill (have you tried riding into town on a bike?!). Celebrate the amazing independent business we have locally. Again, old and empty buildings do not give a good impression, neither do shop doorway vagrants. More Police foot patrols are needed Weaponness & Ramshill to control anti-social behaviour. Gaining government money for funding and then spending on buildings to support local education establishments, doesn't benefit the local community. Involve the local communities and ask them what they would like to see in the Town centre. Bigger shops, good Weaponness & Ramshill restaurants and social activities within the centre will attract more more to Scarborough who will come to spend money on local businesses and benefit the whole community. For years the town centre has closed down in peak times at quite early times, other than the annual effort over Christmas. Other than being on route to another destination there is no actual reason to attract families or adults into the centre, there 4-5 pubs scattered Weaponness & Ramshill around and a couple of eating establishments, but no real attractions in the Westborough stretch after the SJT theatre until you reach the indoor market on Eastborough.

Weaponness & Ramshill Bleak westborough. No quality shops.

Weaponness & Ramshill more flexibility to help shops with business rates

Weaponness & Ramshill More mixed accommodation - retail/restaurants/bars/living. Ensure accommodation above shops is of good quality.

Weaponness & Ramshill our town center is getting very run down. invest in smaller business

Weaponness & Ramshill Use of empty premises above shops

Weaponness & Ramshill Less high street shops, more local run ones, to many claims like KFC, McDonalds etc and supermarkets displacing local shops.

Weaponness & Ramshill Fill empty retail shops/offices Possibly use for social activities

Weaponness & Ramshill Need after work activities and hang outs. Town centre is dead after work, only pubs open. no cinema. No coffee shops to chat.

Weaponness & Ramshill reduced parking charges and more free space available for quick visits

Weaponness & Ramshill Make the town centre attractive, clean and vibrant

Page 28 Weaponness & Ramshill More diverse activities particularly for families, students and tourists. Later opening times. Town centre generally closed at 5pm to 6pm

Weaponness & Ramshill encourage more businesses to more empty premises , maybe by reducing rates

Weaponness & Ramshill Need to talk to Beverley council (They have a great town)

Weaponness & Ramshill Innovative use of empty premises. Help support local crafts people.

Weaponness & Ramshill Cleaner better maintained higher quality restaurants, cafes, shops

Weaponness & Ramshill cheaper business rates to attract business

Weaponness & Ramshill Business rates are sky high and shop rent too high.

Weaponness & Ramshill Clean it up more often - BAN rough sleeping

Weaponness & Ramshill Provide shelters/accommodation for rough sleepers You try to keep it clean and well maintained but are up against it re well supported if it is just about shops. People won't stop on line Weaponness & Ramshill shopping. So shops have to be housing or have other engaging functions. Weaponness & Ramshill Too many empty shop fronts Stop landlords in town hoarding empty buildings.

Weaponness & Ramshill Reduce/remove business rates

Weaponness & Ramshill There are a lot of closed down retail units in Scarborough town centre and I tend to shop in bigger cities such as Leeds.

Weaponness & Ramshill The town centre is a disgrace - far too many empty shops, rubbish and nothing encourages me to shop there.

Weaponness & Ramshill Plant trees- cut pollution

Weaponness & Ramshill town closes at 5pm, need to look at nights in town

Weaponness & Ramshill I do wonder if the council is arguing with one hand tied behind its back

Weaponness & Ramshill Champion the market hall and improve signage

Weaponness & Ramshill Shop doorways - dirty - groups of individuals begging - but not homeless - if homeless needs support register as vulnerable

Page 29 Looking at your high streets - shop frontage - more quality shops. Utilizing about shops - introducing bans on bikes - and dogs with Weaponness & Ramshill stretchy leads. Year round markets. Weaponness & Ramshill Spring/summer time more cleaning of the streets i.e. when the seabirds come back to nest I know this is a big issue.

Weaponness & Ramshill Increase cleaning of public spaces.

Weaponness & Ramshill Provide information about bus routes and where buses go - in maps/not words - throughout Council

Weaponness & Ramshill Reduce the number of empty shops in the town.

Weaponness & Ramshill Car parking needs looking at - free

Weaponness & Ramshill Tackling commercial landlords abandonment of properties Working to tackle anti-social drug/drunken behaviour in town centre

Weaponness & Ramshill Offer discount for pop up shops Make sure shop/building owners are responsible for their frontage and space outside shops

Weaponness & Ramshill Bringing Scarborough upmarket Promote it

Weaponness & Ramshill Tidy the town and lease empty shops to pop up idea shops to young people/enterpren??? to make the town interesting

Weaponness & Ramshill Stop the homeless residing in the centre with a control order.

Weaponness & Ramshill Improve cleanliness in the town centre and utilise empty shops and buildings You need to help independent businesses to return to the town centre by reducing business rates. Using empty spaces above shops as Weaponness & Ramshill housing. Weaponness & Ramshill Reduced rates for shops, esp. smaller more individual ones

Weaponness & Ramshill Kerb the spread of alcohol sales sources

Weaponness & Ramshill Release empty shops to creative people/bicycle repair/sewing centres free or peppercorn rent.

Weaponness & Ramshill Educate a large majority of the people to dispose of litter properly

Weaponness & Ramshill More use made of empty premises (pop up shops etc)

Weaponness & Ramshill Make centre safe at night

Page 30 Weaponness & Ramshill Attract more businesses empty, poorly decorated shops are shabby and give the wrong impression.

Weaponness & Ramshill So many empty shops - rates too high After attending several public consultations and contributing ideas and suggestions, we are still unclear about progress and pace of Weaponness & Ramshill change The problem is present society/culture. Younger people shop on line - I'm too old. Car parking and not late buses are problems. Can Weaponness & Ramshill teenagers get home from "The Street" after 7pm? Weaponness & Ramshill Too many poor ??? up shops and properties bring the ???? to heel to keep their empty properties looking good.

Weaponness & Ramshill too many shops have closed for good, and sometimes the homeless have no where to go then to sleep in their doorways

Weaponness & Ramshill There has been some encouragement of "market days" - perhaps we could have more of these kind of events. Need to make businesses paint the outside of their property annually Trees plant Fine people who spit out gum drop rubbish Cinema in Weaponness & Ramshill the centre of town

What else are you willing to do to help with vibrant town centres?

Ward Comment I do shop locally and use the leisure and cultural facilities in the town but it is not a pleasant experience. I often watch Weaponness & Ramshill holiday makers drop their litter in the street - perhaps we should be fining people who litter on the spot Weaponness & Ramshill See previous answers WORK WITH RAIL AND BUS OPERATORS TO FIND WAYS TO DEVELOPE QUICKER AND MORE FREQUENT Weaponness & Ramshill CONNECTIONS BETWEEN CENTRAL SCARBOROUGH AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. Weaponness & Ramshill Fewer cars in the town centre please! We support local business/traders/craftsmen and eat out almost every day in local cafes, attend events (e.g. Aida, Jools Weaponness & Ramshill Holland, Russian Ballet), SJT, Hollywood Plaza, love Store. Weaponness & Ramshill Don’t drive unnecessarily through town Weaponness & Ramshill Join in on discussions on this subject and Tourism Weaponness & Ramshill A great advocate of the first two points. Anti social behaviour on an evening puts us off on the third point. We shop locally where we can. We do not litter having been thus educated many years ago (!) and we support local Weaponness & Ramshill restaurants and the SJT. In answering as I have to the above 3 questions, it assumes that there are shops I want to shop in, and restaurants a other Weaponness & Ramshill activities that attract me. I want to eat healthy food in comfort, not quick food in cafes. As I understand it there is a focus group freshly started last year to help with the town centre improvement, it would be Weaponness & Ramshill nice to hear how they are getting on.

Page 32 Weaponness & Ramshill not enough shops Weaponness & Ramshill Already litter pick on the south cliff - more needed. Contemplating moving to York - nice places to eat and drink. Scarborough town centre is awful. I try to support local Weaponness & Ramshill enterprises but what's the point - always grotty and undesirables hanging around the town centre. Weaponness & Ramshill The town centre can't just be about retail - gardens producing food - we need to stop buying culture stuff. Weaponness & Ramshill I always try to keep it local but with little choice I can not always to this Weaponness & Ramshill People don't go out as much as they used to do. Weaponness & Ramshill I'd love to shop in Scarborough town centre but there are very few "proper" shops to shop in. Weaponness & Ramshill Re awaken the ghost town for residents and visitors. Weaponness & Ramshill Do this already Weaponness & Ramshill unfortunately a number of premises are not accessible which precludes our use of Scarborough Weaponness & Ramshill Difficult to support town with poor shops and not safe in the evening. Weaponness & Ramshill Reduce/Lower number of gulls nesting in town centre. I would be prepared to encourage people to live in the town centre in affordable accommodation but not if planned as Weaponness & Ramshill dreadfully as some office block conversions which are now allowed. Must be decent. Weaponness & Ramshill More promotion for independent retailers/eateries Weaponness & Ramshill Would never drop litter! Not enough unusual places to eat - all to similar and uninviting. Weaponness & Ramshill Clean - pavements - empty shops have windows covered. When Police presence is evident - as it seems to be following "an incident" bike and anti social behaviour on town centre Weaponness & Ramshill diminishing. The backdrop of shop frontage exists - it needs upgrading (use Bridlington old town as an example)

Campaigning to reduce business rates Street paving quality improved - serious poor quality Improvements would make a Weaponness & Ramshill big difference to the environment Stop organising events that take people away from the Town Centre Weaponness & Ramshill I do all of these. I do not shop on line. I buy all my birthday and Christmas presents and cards in Scarborough In Newcastle, where one of my family lives, shops, cafes etc remain open until 7pm (ish) so encouraging people to remain Weaponness & Ramshill in town for a meal etc after work. Many of our shops close at 5.30pm (ish) Weaponness & Ramshill Review business rates for shops to encourage sustainable business Weaponness & Ramshill Can't afford it Weaponness & Ramshill At this point you seem to be passing the buck back to the public - you make it good and the people will come. Weaponness & Ramshill Improved public transport facilities would help with this theme. Weaponness & Ramshill Do all these things already - need longer hours for businesses. Better shops - a night time economy

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill I am not too clued up on this - however the Council appear to support a lot of art and culture groups and projects through funding etc.

Loads, partly see previous answers but also work better, differently and use the great knowledge, expertise and assets already in the Weaponness & Ramshill borough to drive the agenda forward. And in particular hand over the organisation of festivals and events to the professionals working within the cultural, heritage and creative industries in the area rather than trying to do it yourselves...... Weaponness & Ramshill Have lively street markets Weaponness & Ramshill DON'T KNOW.

Scarborough Contemporary. A modern flexible art space on the site of the Futurist, with a climbing wall on the outside. Linked to Woodend and the Art Gallery/Rotunda via a sculptural trail and to town by a further art path. Definitely not a place for a permanent collection, but a flexible space for visiting art (supported by major galleries across the UK and the Arts Council) including performance art, musical happenings etc. Including an outdoor screen for summer films/shorts. Also including the new arts hub base for Crescent Arts with a small number of studios. A stunning modern building with amazing views and a damn good cafe (which absolutely doesn't Weaponness & Ramshill serve fish and chips so not competing with established seafront eateries), family friendly. A year-round draw for Scarborough making it a real arts destination and key reason to travel over and stay - from York, from Manchester, from Liverpool, from Newcastle as well as from London. Continue support of SJT and other well-used local cultural institutions and doing more to help them reach out into communities (Eastfield etc) recognising the enormous impact of culture for resident population as well as for visitors. Strengthen and support Coastival and its open studio programme on an onward basis so it can effectively plan from year to year.

More arts in empty shop. More DIY ethos around culture. A cinema offer - both alternative film culture, documentaries, and short Weaponness & Ramshill films. Also a mainstream cinema too. Scarborough desperately needs a contemporary coworking space, to allow people working freelance here to truly thrive. Weaponness & Ramshill More classical music, especially chamber music in smaller venues, with comfortable seats! The Scarborough paper could advertise cinema programmes for all areas together on one page - I often find it difficult to find what is Weaponness & Ramshill on. This also ties up with the need for a proper , central Tourist Information point. Weaponness & Ramshill Lacks a major Museum. Scarborough would benefit from a Museum like the one in Whitby Weaponness & Ramshill Encourage more big name entertainers to perform in the town Protection of heritage buildings and assets. More stringency with planning to stop demolition or unsympathetic alteration of old Weaponness & Ramshill buildings, etc Think there is a good varied offer in Scarborough, plenty of live music, choirs, art and theatre, entertainment. We have history and Weaponness & Ramshill wonderful buildings. This should of course be promoted when it comes to Tourism which is a huge factor in the success of the economy. On the whole Scarborough has a great deal to offer in it's natural beauty. Museums and art galleries and the events held throughout Weaponness & Ramshill the year are great. Once the cinema!!!!!!! is in place this will enhance further. Just seems to take plans so long to be acted upon. As a bystander too much pontification sometimes.

Page 36 A more obvious permanent celebration of Scarborough's wonderful history going right back to its origins would be great. There is a lot of Victorian history in it buildings, pictures, etc but something older and Viking, making more of its fishing heritage would be good, for Weaponness & Ramshill example why aren't Scarborough ganzies available for sale like the ones on Robin Hood's Bay. Is there scope for more open air theatre entertainment in the summer? A local craft/makers centre and more craft and art fairs would be good smaller, more community based projects - less "big business" ventures e. g. small family orientated leisure facilities such as kiddies Weaponness & Ramshill paddling pools - instead of huge corporate very expensive venues- i. e. Alpamare. There should be more entertainment for us all. It was a pitty to let the Futurist go. The Eye doesn't exactly make us a serious town, just Weaponness & Ramshill a 'seaside. place!!! Restoration of old properties. Maybe a 'pop-in' centre or office in town where residents can discuss ideas and problems with someone Weaponness & Ramshill from SBC. This would help give a feeling of inclusiveness and might just be useful for the Council. This needs some serious strategic thinking, involving communities who live here, not just designing a pleasure seafront that is Weaponness & Ramshill predominantly for attracting visitors for a day out. There is a huge amount of rethinking needed in this Theme - engage the local communities in proper conversation - but ask questions, don't give answers. We have a decent mix of cultural events going on in Scarborough, some are better promoted than others, however there are not Weaponness & Ramshill enough of these events taking place throughout the year that I am aware of, the offering down at the the Spa last year was simply not good enough. We had on several occasions either no or very little going on at the Spa in the high season. Weaponness & Ramshill Sbc doing well. Weaponness & Ramshill There is a vibrant scene Need more promotion Weaponness & Ramshill very sad about the futurist please think carefully what will take its place Weaponness & Ramshill We need ONE late night bus service to various areas in town so that people can attend events. Weaponness & Ramshill Think like a city not a town! Modern art gallery. Dance classes. Venues for young people- illuminated surf board competitions. Start ups encouraged and supported. Pop-ups too. A concerted effort to get groups together to support each other in businesses and Weaponness & Ramshill projects. Weaponness & Ramshill as far as we are aware Weaponness & Ramshill No ggod general theatre just Spa and SJT which is not enough for holiday town. (No cinema) Weaponness & Ramshill I'm not aware of anything that you do on this theme. Weaponness & Ramshill increase ambition, quality, dynamism, across the cultural provision spaces to create/do as well as experience culture Weaponness & Ramshill more well paid jobs Weaponness & Ramshill More business start up help and grants. Weaponness & Ramshill we need to do more for the British heritage Given osterity and cuts are continuing for councils it is hard to see how you could do more to support the art gallery, sj theatre or spa Weaponness & Ramshill but the pointless destruction of the futurist (nothing worthwhile yet) needs addressing. Weaponness & Ramshill Barely any information about our history Protect our historical buildings. I feel that the cultural attractions for Scarborough are limited. The Open Air Theatre is great but can only be used 3 months of the Weaponness & Ramshill year. The Spa and SJT are small venues as well. Weaponness & Ramshill Not removing the Futurist Sort out N Bay cinema ???? Weaponness & Ramshill In summer - but not winter - utilise the town centre - markets

Page 37 Weaponness & Ramshill I think more art/craft shops - individual style in town centre - more effort to attract higher end clientele. Weaponness & Ramshill Provide local travel (public transport) in maps - throughout Borough to travel

Weaponness & Ramshill Improve the projection of the towns heritage Its time to refresh the seafront which is tired and tacky which currently belongs to the 70s

Weaponness & Ramshill Make sure these are accessible to all not just the few - SJT is a good example of inclusivity Weaponness & Ramshill More funding and support to local arts groups and to widen their audience. Weaponness & Ramshill Theatres and cinemas needed Swimming pools for use in all seasons at a price families can afford Weaponness & Ramshill Make sure these areas feel safe for everyone to enjoy Weaponness & Ramshill Late night revellers a deterent Weaponness & Ramshill Funding variety of events publicise consider reducing parking fees You haven't given us a multiplex cinema. So many films I can't get to see here. I do go to SJT whenever, I can - but it's not enough! Weaponness & Ramshill Why can't you do more sailing/rowing regattas from harbour? National events!

Sadly we've lost the Futurist! I think it very sad that with the history as the first watering place and fishing history that we don't have a natural history museum on lines of the one in Whitby. All our artefacts will be stored away in various warehouses but are not really Weaponness & Ramshill accessible to the general public. Also, we are concerned to provide indoor facilities for out visitors, eg proposed multi screen cinema. A really good museum along the lines of what we used to have would also be a valuable asset for visitors in inclement weather.

Weaponness & Ramshill As said before Scarborough has a wonderful culture and heritage. I think the austerity cuts greatly "stifled" projects - (particularly with the Art Gallery, Weaponness & Ramshill Woodend and Rotunda Museums) being developed for both residents and tourists to enjoy Weaponness & Ramshill Better marketing of events - i.e. what's happening on a weekly basis

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill See previous answers Weaponness & Ramshill ENOUGH. Weaponness & Ramshill Do all the above. Weaponness & Ramshill Well done on the scheme to re-introduce a kiddies corner on SouthCliff. Weaponness & Ramshill We already support all three of the above. Weaponness & Ramshill A Theme of this depth needs more than 3 little questions about a single issue. Weaponness & Ramshill Already committed to increasing rights of way. Promotion locally and nationally Encourage people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to get involved by having Weaponness & Ramshill volunteers to accompany them. Weaponness & Ramshill Already do this Weaponness & Ramshill not as far as we know Weaponness & Ramshill More live gigs, festivals 'safe' car meets/events organized and controlled at the marine drive. I would be prepared to support park and ride evening extensions when activities were taking place. Does culture include the Weaponness & Ramshill OAT? Big parking issues. endless taxis etc. Harrogate and York manage to do it Weaponness & Ramshill Scarborough LGBYQ pride. list more buildings. Page 47 What more do you feel could be done within happy healthy people?

Ward Comment Good gym's and leisure facilities in the Borough. Lots of events going on to ensure people have plenty to do outside of work - however Weaponness & Ramshill more activities/ events for young people outside of work would be good if budgets would allow. More investment in public health and in cradle to grave health initiates - particularly supporting young families to eat healthily and Weaponness & Ramshill exercise to bring down childhood obesity and to reduce smoking and smoking in pregnancy Have to accept that whilst this is important for SBC there are many other agencies that have a role to play in this "system" and the Weaponness & Ramshill borough should be supporting (and modelling) generous leadership around how to make the system function more effectivily Weaponness & Ramshill Local places where people could call in for a coffee and a chat Weaponness & Ramshill Reinstating the ability of vulnerable people to have affordable access to community care ENABLE PUBLIC TRANSPORT OPERATORS TO PROVIDE FASTER CONNECTIONS BETWEEN HOMES, WORKPLACES AND Weaponness & Ramshill LEISURE PLACES, THUS REDUCING STRESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLUTION.

The grass is left to get too long in many places - eg along Esplanade. Too much litter around (I bought my own litter picker recently). Weaponness & Ramshill We need more regular street cleaning - especially along road sides, public gardens and parks, and the seafront areas. Nothing. The investment needs to be in bringing tourists with a higher spend and improving connection and job prospects. Raising aspirations. Spending money on bins and dog wardens is proven etc is consistently proven to have little effect. There's too many Weaponness & Ramshill shops on the seafront selling plastic rubbish and shops that sell food in disposable wrappers. Scarborough will always have a litter problem while these places dominate. Invest in art, culture and heritage and do more to utilise natural assets then more gentle visitors will come who will care for the environment in a much better way. Weaponness & Ramshill GET RID OF THE SEAGULLS Weaponness & Ramshill Much more street cleaning Fine litter louts I've seen coloured bin bags supplied to some dwellings, but when these are left on the street for collection, the bags are ripped open Weaponness & Ramshill by gulls or other animals. Maybe the bags should be put in to a separate collection point which is animal proof. Do a follow-up clean after the waste has been collected and on windy days Weaponness & Ramshill regular street cleaning Weaponness & Ramshill recycle food waste from individual households Weaponness & Ramshill More litter bins. Weaponness & Ramshill Stop promoting a fraud: climate change

Page 48 Send the road sweeper round the green space on Belmont Road every week! have the dog warden walk through our green space visibly and at random times, this lets people know that littering and dog fouling are nasty and unnecessary - what can the Council do about Crown Terrace, Marine Residence, The Marley, Ink, Gringos, Villa Esplanade, Albion Road, the back of the Crown Spa Hotel, South Street, the cut through between Marine Residence and the Cumberland Hotel, cut back the shrubbery, remove litter, light this Weaponness & Ramshill area up - these areas need improving or something. Blue bin recycling not comprehensive enough. Why not take aluminium foil for instance or as in Nottinghamshire have a small bag to Weaponness & Ramshill put spent batteries in to put on top of the blue bin?. Weaponness & Ramshill clear promenades of sand Weaponness & Ramshill More incentives to not use cars, better and additional public transport

Cannot pressure be put on the Weaponness & Ramshill owners to do something to improve the site.

Climate resilience involves future-proofing the borough by using green infrastructure to benefit well-being (better, user friendly micro- Weaponness & Ramshill climates and diverse open spaces), water (improving SUDs) and wildlife (net biodiversity gain including improvement connectivity). I would like the borough to develop and implement a comprehensive climate-resilient GI strategy Clean areas not only in tourist areas but residents as well, bought a property in st martins sq last year and dissapointed to see several Weaponness & Ramshill derelict properties plus squats in a derilict hotel. As iam agardener very impressed by your bedding etc on the Eslplanade but hedges bushes overgrown near Red Lea please be more caring creating smoke free areas ie no woodburners in allocated ares for people with severe breathing difficulties as i Weaponness & Ramshill havent found enviromental health dept to be caring or helpful Prevent fly tipping and make it easier for people top get to tips.Create more bin emptying in town and prevent seagulls from attacking Weaponness & Ramshill people and creating mayhem in town. Decarbonising our infrastructure.

Page 49 Cleaning and maintaining parks and gardens, in particular the cliff areas. South cliff trees etc are full of plastic pollution, there are Weaponness & Ramshill things like armchairs visible on the Castle cliffs etc. Nothing is done to keep these areas clean. Streets are filthy in the summer season in particular.

Weaponness & Ramshill Restoring old property (see previous question) and being careful with new building projects, they should not be built on green spaces. Weaponness & Ramshill Strategic vision for the Borough followed by investment. The local sea waters seem to regularly fail to reach the levels of cleanliness that others around the coast seem to achieve, obviously a Weaponness & Ramshill cause of concern for a holiday seaside resort. Weaponness & Ramshill Cutting back hedges blocking pavement please. Weaponness & Ramshill More cctv cameras to stop litter thrown out of cars. Weaponness & Ramshill more litter pickers in town center Weaponness & Ramshill See previous response Weaponness & Ramshill some area are very unkempt invest in them i.e. the mere Weaponness & Ramshill Employ more gardeners to help keep our green environment clean and attractive. Weaponness & Ramshill Mostly good but South Cliff gardens, North Bay grass land and Peasholm Park used to be better would be very expensive to get right. Weaponness & Ramshill Street parking Weaponness & Ramshill Clean streets of dog waste and litter Wate and recycling household are good but ive noticed more flytipping, visitors & residents dropping rubbish, leaving nappys. Dog dirt Weaponness & Ramshill on streets. Weaponness & Ramshill pavement cleaning in town more action taken to prevent/clean up dog fouling Weaponness & Ramshill Get rid of the litter and dog poo Weaponness & Ramshill More incentives for those who do not respect spaces to be involved in up keep and improvements schemes education involvement Weaponness & Ramshill not sure Weaponness & Ramshill Protect conservation areas and parks Weaponness & Ramshill Enforce dog fouling fine. (I am a dog owner) Enforce littering fine. More waste bins - none in south bay and old pool. Weaponness & Ramshill More dog wardens/too much dog mess on the pavements Weaponness & Ramshill Stop cutting down trees ie on the South Cliff just to improve the view! We are supposed to be planting them. Shocking Weaponness & Ramshill Enforcements on fly tipping, crack down on bad dog owners litter picks. Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing Weaponness & Ramshill Doing more were derelict land/space e.g. Kinderland site Weaponness & Ramshill Clear rubbish and pest control - rats visible daily! All I care about is wildlife and keeping wild spaces wild. Don't go chopping everything down just for a view. We need so many more trees to take away car particulates. I litter pick on south cliff and the beach. Don't build any more- keep green spaces, bring back trees Weaponness & Ramshill in town. Gardens are being quietly cut back on. Tree chopping- awful. T/centre- London is better than here. Plant trees, flowers everywhere- seed on verges, hedges, shrubs. Weaponness & Ramshill you could do more Weaponness & Ramshill talk it up more. restore fading monuments

Page 50 Weaponness & Ramshill More regularly cleaning Restoration of fitted pavements and of grass verges Weaponness & Ramshill Bins on some street litter - horrendous sleeping in door ways - leaving rubbish. Town centre needs cleaning. Weaponness & Ramshill Dog fouling on South Cliff, particularly during winter months when situation worsens Weaponness & Ramshill Could we recycle more? i.e. food, foil etc Weaponness & Ramshill Increase initiatives re rubbish collection and recycling. Take more care of the beaches and reduce water pollution. Weaponness & Ramshill No idea what is being done now! Weaponness & Ramshill Street cleaning - signage - dog mess - pavements - gull mess - litter - commercial ??? and ??? not left on street e.g Grand Hotel Weaponness & Ramshill More detailed recycling, engaging businesses with recycling. More bins on beaches especially recycling ones Cycle paths are not maintained don't join up, not advertised sufficiently, recycling is not achieved appropriately, bus service and trains Weaponness & Ramshill poor Weaponness & Ramshill Stop using one off plastic - zip ties/laminated/signs actively target one area and clean/litter pick Weaponness & Ramshill More staff Weaponness & Ramshill More dog wardens Police on foot day and night Litter fines Weaponness & Ramshill Grass cutting on village green Concentrate on reducing cars to the town, create better/cheaper public transport and encourage cycling/walking. Create a 5 year/10 Weaponness & Ramshill year plan aimed at getting cars off the road/park at park and ride/incentives to use public transport. More investment be given to area around Spa. It is dark and depressing with broken down buildings and beach huts. Compared to Weaponness & Ramshill north side how can we attract visitors. Weaponness & Ramshill More involvement of the public Weaponness & Ramshill Maintain buildings and public areas. Weaponness & Ramshill Regular cutting of verges. Removing litter from steep slopes below Esplanade Weaponness & Ramshill Ongoing maintenance of gardens should have a little more priority Weaponness & Ramshill Keep streets free from litter/seagull droppings etc/cull pigeons and seagulls Weaponness & Ramshill Rationalise the duplication of double decker buses used, going around the bay You - the Council cannot do much more expect ???? ???? where ab?? The general public should be more responsible for their Weaponness & Ramshill actions Weaponness & Ramshill advertising to promote this idea on bill boards on public transport

Weaponness & Ramshill Regular cleansing of streets in the town Planting of trees More bins - better ones strategically placed

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill See previous answer Weaponness & Ramshill LOOKS O.K. How about setting up small community mutual support groups where people can gather for a coffee and a natter once a Weaponness & Ramshill week. Or maybe go for a walk and talk together. Weaponness & Ramshill Already volunteers in delivering books to housebound people and coordinate the Home Library Service. Weaponness & Ramshill My main job in Leeds as a gardener involves me talking and listening to lonely elderly people Weaponness & Ramshill Yes Making pavements more accessible - they're really really difficult with a pushchair, I have no idea how wheelchair users Weaponness & Ramshill cope in Scarborough

Weaponness & Ramshill We walk into town and around the area frequently. We have contact with neighbours and others in the area. We are retired.

With regards to healthy eating it might be useful to think about the amount of fast food outlets we have and perhaps Weaponness & Ramshill encourage some different more healthy options, it’s such a shame that a lot of our local fish produces seem to go out of the town, and a lot of our local restaurants and cafes are very limited with their fresh vegetables, salads and fruit options.

Weaponness & Ramshill Yes, less expensive foreshore, more cheaper family places. Weaponness & Ramshill Already do this Weaponness & Ramshill No ive noticed a lot of runners and fitness groups outside which is great, healthy eating is lacking still.

Page 52 Weaponness & Ramshill Already do these things Weaponness & Ramshill yes we think so Weaponness & Ramshill One indoor pool isn't enough, Bridlington has far better facilities Weaponness & Ramshill You would need to get rid of zero hour contracts to improve work/life balance and mental health. Also eating. Weaponness & Ramshill encourage greener transport i.e. why do the new east yorks buses run on diesel? Weaponness & Ramshill Already do all this Weaponness & Ramshill Do not charge full council tax rate for people who do not work full time! Ratio rates! Weaponness & Ramshill SBC should not be involved in this Weaponness & Ramshill Ban dogs from the beaches all year round Community integration should be a priority and we should welcome refugees into town and get people involved in sharing Weaponness & Ramshill ideas with them and doing community activities. Weaponness & Ramshill As our flat is a holiday let it is difficult to commit to anything communal Weaponness & Ramshill I do a huge amount of this via church Remember many sick, disabled, elderly, frail CANNOT exercise or even take a short walk - they do however need fresh air. As well as fresh fruit and veg. Could a scheme be devised to help such people - many trapped in their homes with or Weaponness & Ramshill without a spouse - both are trying to care for each other - the blind leading the blind! So to speak. Remember who carer for the carer as a community do as we do and help your neighbour where you can Weaponness & Ramshill Already exercise and eat healthy

Ward Comment There are a number of marginalized communities in Scarborough and we need to reach out to them more including those where Weaponness & Ramshill English is not their first language Load, how much time have you got...... have a look at the work of CAVCA (and others) who are really making stuff happen within the diverse communities in the borough. All the experience from Community led regeneration (c/f Local Trust/Big Local; Totally Weaponness & Ramshill Socially) Place-based giving of time talent & treasure shows that if you trust, empower & resource communities great stuff happens. So SBC let go, give over power & resource, quickly learn the lessons from other local authorities that are doing great stuff. Happy to use my networks, skills and expertise to help Weaponness & Ramshill CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING. see previous answer. Use the expertise within the borough to develop better consultation which reaches out into communities to Weaponness & Ramshill actively involve Weaponness & Ramshill Again not sure what’s being done at mo. Certainly there’s more that could be achieved at a community level. Revive the Town Team. Councillors could hold surgeries regularly. Staff and councillors should be more willing to engage with the Weaponness & Ramshill public. Weaponness & Ramshill Hard to know how to ask people to engage, but this survey is a great start. A difficult one. Do the council really listen? Actions need to be broadcast in a variety of ways so people feel they are being listened to Weaponness & Ramshill and don't feel there is little point in commenting as no action is taken anyway. Posters in the library general places where people congregate, leaflets, local news channels. 'Actions taken in response to: etc . I only found about this consultation via a leaflet I picked up a week ago and only discovered today that it has started in January and Weaponness & Ramshill closed on 16th March so it hasn't been well communicated. If you really want to reach people its important to use all means - letters mailed to addresses, local radio, social media and posters, etc Weaponness & Ramshill People don't feel part of things maybe because they are not aware of what is available to them. Weaponness & Ramshill Make council consultations more engaging!

We have the impression, rightly or wrongly, that in the past the council has just gone it's own way without consideration for the residents. The closing of public toilets being just one point. A stupid decision in a major tourist town. Again, restoration of old buildings Weaponness & Ramshill should be tackled, the previously mentioned toilet and sunbathing block south of the Spa lift is a case in point... it has been like that fo over 40 years! When the South Cliff Garden project is finished this dilapidated building will be even more of an eyesore.

Support local communities more. Parish Councils receive some funding that they are able to spend on local priorities, which will make Weaponness & Ramshill those communities feel good. That does not happen to other 'non-Parish' communities who have no financial help to support local priorities, instead having to rely on the whims of a Borough Council, who do nothing to identify local priorities.

I think this has got better in recent years, however I feel some of that is down to the efforts I’ve made personally or as part of a group. The communication and passing on of information is still generally poor, we should have a central point for all to pass on important and Weaponness & Ramshill relevant information, I’m afraid you can’t keep using the excuse of looking at websites for everything, if your not aware of events taking place you don’t always check websites and sometimes these forums are not kept up to date. A local Scarborough app that is accessible with good WiFi connection and managed properly and then promoted would be a vast improvement.

Page 59 More free parking for 1 hour around the market, would encourage shoppers to use it. More signs for the market, it is a lovely place but Weaponness & Ramshill a well kept secret. Weaponness & Ramshill Giving people the sense that if they make suggestions they will be taken on board or at least discussed Weaponness & Ramshill Community groups do this, not sure how much the council helps. Weaponness & Ramshill This comes after tackling poverty and homelessness Weaponness & Ramshill I find most community projects boring and stuffy. I don't engage because of this. Need more outside of box ideas. Weaponness & Ramshill Encourage more community groups Weaponness & Ramshill not sure what you do at the moment Weaponness & Ramshill more awareness to what is going on. to do more in day time hours older people like to be involved but in the day time. Weaponness & Ramshill Support for local existing clubs and societies. The way the council makes decisions needs to change. We vote councilors in (some of us) but they do not seem to know or vote on Weaponness & Ramshill issues that come up. Needs system/cabinet change. Makes voting pointless. Weaponness & Ramshill More local groups/club nights/socials etc Weaponness & Ramshill I feel that I have never had much engagement/communication from the Council apart from elections and this form. Weaponness & Ramshill Unsure Weaponness & Ramshill Invest into more support for vulnerable people Community Angels - White Rose - need Faulty Team Weaponness & Ramshill Increase opportunities for people to be involved. Increase available information on community involvement in discussions. Weaponness & Ramshill What is the Council doing? NO IDEA Weaponness & Ramshill More engagement local facilities and bring in a cinema without more years of delay. Pleased that Town Hall now open to public. Weaponness & Ramshill Reach out to people in Scarborough. Have resident passes or discounts for people. Communicate more. More community activities. Fund raising events, open up community centres for all to join in crafts, coffee mornings, jumble sales, Weaponness & Ramshill recycling ideas Weaponness & Ramshill Reinstate area to Eastfield Parish Council Weaponness & Ramshill Very often charities are left to pick up the pieces of poverty and deprivation. Weaponness & Ramshill Not sure of what goes on in the area to achieve thriving and engage communities Weaponness & Ramshill Look at events that draw in all ages and genders publicise! Weaponness & Ramshill This consultation and the public meetings associated with it are a big step forward. I mourn the passing of the town team. Weaponness & Ramshill ? Be more proactive in taking an inclusive approach when planning and delivering community activities - particularly for harder to reach Weaponness & Ramshill groups Places where engaged communities are doing well for those who go are churches, and pubs, theatres etc especially YMCA do a good Weaponness & Ramshill job for those who can afford them. Weaponness & Ramshill Get the public involved Weaponness & Ramshill Getting back services that were cut by austerity would be a start. Weaponness & Ramshill Surveys/discussions are good only if they are listened to and not only given lip service

Weaponness & Ramshill we are introverts, don't like groups but do what we can to help those in our building Weaponness & Ramshill Already involved but would be eager to support more, if there is proof that it is worthwhile and not lip service. Weaponness & Ramshill Pretty well. Weaponness & Ramshill We're really lucky to have some great community venues and groups. When it comes to listening to local priorities within smaller communities, 'one size' questionnaires don't fit everyone. The Weaponness & Ramshill questions have to be open, not closed where the answers are given. Weaponness & Ramshill already a volunteer Weaponness & Ramshill Already involved with sccg Weaponness & Ramshill Need to talk about dedicating bridleways across sbc land. Weaponness & Ramshill The library smells which also goes back to my point about boring and stuffy. It is full of people I don't want to engage with.

Ward Comment Good services (police, community support officers, street angels, CCTV etc.) However drug use appears to be forever increasing Weaponness & Ramshill within the town and obviously this brings an increase in crime Crimes also appear to be more severe within the area (stabbings, muggings, violent attacks etc.) On the whole Scarborough feels relatively safe (except in the town centre on Friday and Saturday nights when it can feel a bit Weaponness & Ramshill intimidating). Weaponness & Ramshill I think (having moved from London) that Scarborough is a very safe place to live, work & play Weaponness & Ramshill MORE POLICE ON BEAT. Crime and ASB happens 24/7 but police and council staff are not. More out of hours working required. Apart from parking there is little Weaponness & Ramshill enforcement. Weaponness & Ramshill Police to drive round this area on Friday/Saturday nights between midnight and 5 am. Weaponness & Ramshill don't know but I have been told by people that they are uncomfortable in Scarborough shopping are in the evenngs Weaponness & Ramshill more police presence on the streets Weaponness & Ramshill Hope that the government really does come up with money to support the police here. Previously stated. Greater patrols of community police in the South Cliff area, Esplanade hotel area, Birdcage Walk, Garden next to Weaponness & Ramshill the Cat's Whiskers, always has drinking groups in. Better lighting too. Dog warden needs to been seen more often on Belmont Road, Crown Terrace and Esplanade. Scarborough feels a very safe place to live but there is obviously an issue with homelessness, poverty and anti-social behaviour so are Weaponness & Ramshill there enough 'safety nets locally? Weaponness & Ramshill Not concentrating on property and car crime. more visible protection on the streets e. g. police on the beat. Weaponness & Ramshill More CCTV CAMERAS Weaponness & Ramshill Get drugs off our streets and have harsher penalties for the dealers. More police involvement. Weaponness & Ramshill A better police presence would be of great benefit. We already have a community group which is marvellous. Weaponness & Ramshill I think we have a great and very visible policing force - just support them as much as possible Weaponness & Ramshill More Police foot patrols. Maybe more education as to life in general, coexisting with others, etc., by parents and eventually schools. Weaponness & Ramshill Sadly, the biggest thing to be done is totally out of the Borough Council's control - invest in more police officers. This seems a bit hit & miss, I seem to experience spells when I walk through town when there is no obvious police presence and witnesses varying levels of antisocial behaviour ranging from shouting, arguments, excessive alcohol consumption and mental health related issues etc, and then other times when campaigns are evident where i genuinely wonder if police resources are being used Weaponness & Ramshill efficiently. I just wish we could have a more consistent status quo of policing being constantly evident on our highly populated areas. I was stood in Scarborough police station towards the end of last year and a father and his young daughter came in to report something they felt was quite important, reception told them that there was no available to speak with, so they left, I wonder if they ever went back. Weaponness & Ramshill More cctv cameras. Weaponness & Ramshill Anti social behaviour is connected to poverty and disaffection. This should be tackled Weaponness & Ramshill Scarborough has become safer over the years and compared to most places in the country is very good

Page 67 Weaponness & Ramshill I don't know what you are doing. There are even "???? on the beach" Weaponness & Ramshill Rehabilitate and press for community service - do you? Weaponness & Ramshill nothing it seems to be the age we live in Weaponness & Ramshill Stop other councils dumping homeless on Scarborough. Weaponness & Ramshill more police on the beat Weaponness & Ramshill Where have the pcso's gone? 6 years ago they were a regular sight. I have not seen one for at least 2 years. Weaponness & Ramshill not enough police on streets especially in town Weaponness & Ramshill cctv police patrols Weaponness & Ramshill Drug problems Alcohol problems Light sentances dish???? no deterent encourage the government to not just replace the 20,000 police they cut in the last 10 yrs but to actually increase those numbers to Weaponness & Ramshill match the increase of population Weaponness & Ramshill I have been harassed physically, verbally and sexually in the town centre especially on nights out this town is barely LGBTQ friendly. Weaponness & Ramshill Look at the drunks beneath the town hall! This is a big problem for the borough. Weaponness & Ramshill Increase funding for neighbourhood Policing Weaponness & Ramshill provide more places where the young can meet up. tackle rogue landlords Weaponness & Ramshill Groups gather town centre - nights in Scarborough would not encourage visitors Weaponness & Ramshill More visible Policing on the beat. Weaponness & Ramshill Stop drunken behaviour around clubs/pubs - stop people selling cannabis! Police ignore anti social side Weaponness & Ramshill No effective action taken between Council and Police to drive out anti social behaviour in town centre. Better use of CCTV Weaponness & Ramshill More qualified youth workers and mental health support services/groups Weaponness & Ramshill Anti social parking (wheels on kerbs, parking completely on pavement, publish anti social behaviour results to show its being achieved. Weaponness & Ramshill More CCTV, more activities for young people to encourage productivity and reduce crime. Police in cars no good. Need them on the beat morning and night. Stiffer penalties for miscreants to start with littering, public Weaponness & Ramshill drinking/drugs/graffiti. Weaponness & Ramshill Restore street lighting to previous lighting levels. LED replacements inadequate to dangerous levels Weaponness & Ramshill Don't know Weaponness & Ramshill Improve lighting in streets of terraced houses. Totally inadequate in places. Weaponness & Ramshill More presence on the streets!! Street Angels etc are good. On foot and on cycles Weaponness & Ramshill Additional Police/support officers visible to people Weaponness & Ramshill Improve standards equally across both north and south Scarborough Weaponness & Ramshill More CCTV cameras Neighbourhood watch areas Weaponness & Ramshill more police walking the streets Maybe more could be done to provide play safe areas and centres for young peoples activities, and projects to help them get involved Weaponness & Ramshill with improving their environment.

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill ENOUGH. Weaponness & Ramshill Already in a community group. Report anti social behaviour when seen and report to the dog warden.. Weaponness & Ramshill Already help in community. Ward Comment Scarborough is still a rubbish place for jobs and the low wage capital of the UK which is not something to be proud of. There is a real shortage of high quality jobs in the 30 - 50k salary bracket and very little for new graduates so why would they ever bother coming back Weaponness & Ramshill after moving away to study. We need to be attracting better quality employers to the area but look what happened with Sirius minerals! One of the reasons companies don't come is because the transport links are so awful too. A massive amount. For the start embrace the movement of Community Wealth Building and the circular economy, examine your own Weaponness & Ramshill supply chain and learn from the good examples elsewhere like Preston (although there are other better examples like Morecombe, Dover and work done by NEF and Local Trust on Costal Economies Weaponness & Ramshill GET THE MESSAGE OUT THAT SCARBOROUGH IS A PLACE FOR BUSINESS AS WELL AS A RESORT. Better performing schools - should lead to better skilled, ambitious individuals and also support regeneration and investment as without Weaponness & Ramshill good schools for their children to go to business leaders won't want to set up their businesses here...... Weaponness & Ramshill Don't know Weaponness & Ramshill encouraging new businesses to set up in the borough. bidding for available development money Weaponness & Ramshill Improvement of communications, roads. Better paid and higher quality jobs I think you're on the case. Keep up the push for education both at schools and colleges. Push for good transport links and try to attract Weaponness & Ramshill more companies into the area. There is still plenty of space at Eastfield. It's worth emphasising the wonderful quality of life available to companies and their staff here. Retired, so apart from the activities we are already involved in, and what we read in the local news, cannot really comment. It is how Weaponness & Ramshill that investment is encouraging small businesses to be promoted and supported. Support local suppliers, growers, manufacturers and so o by helping to reduce rates and fixed costs that small businesses find hard. Weaponness & Ramshill More hub premises and 'incubator' hubs to help young entrepreneurs. More training places and apprenticeships Tourist Industry vital to Scarborough. Should have an aim/ambition to be the number one resort in England, Potential is there, need to publicise it, so that get full participation, suspect there is not the drive/ambition.at present, (hope I am wrong on this). South Bay Sea Weaponness & Ramshill Water, needs Blue Flag Status. A Reef could improve Surfing, large number of participants, surf contests would draw large numbers and gain considerable coverage, Nationally. ( the North and South Bays huge areas ). Web site and tourist office, scope to up their impact See my previous comments about prosperity not growth. Business have to be sustainably sound to be welcome. Again I know this is out of scope but make sure the train connection is excellent - the delays and inconsistencies over the last 18 months have caused Weaponness & Ramshill significant difficulties. Establish (or promote if one already exists) a social enterprise/co-working space. Provide routes into employment for refugees in the borough. Weaponness & Ramshill Quite a lot has already been done on this theme... the Tech, University, Sirius, etc. This theme is again about a strategic vision and investment in long term development of the area, and its communities. I just don't see Weaponness & Ramshill this happening at the moment.

Page 79 Scarborough has evolved into far too many fragmented groups with vested interests in various areas and although it is healthy to have alternative views and opinions sadly my experience of these groups tends to be for political or personal gain. It would be more Weaponness & Ramshill productive to have professional people appointed by qualified and experienced panels to specifically help with problems in their area of specialty. There is a wealth of experience in many professions in Scarborough that lays unused that could make a difference to the Borough at virtually zero cost. Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing. Weaponness & Ramshill We need to be considering how to 'build economy' effects environment. We can't build Scarborough on destroying the environment. Weaponness & Ramshill More job opportunities, especially in the skilled and qualified sector. Education in the town has much less opportunity than in past and I think the Council need to try and get more tech, and prosperous Weaponness & Ramshill businesses to move to town. Weaponness & Ramshill Tackle homelessness and poverty first Weaponness & Ramshill I don't work in Scarborough as cant get a decent paid job . Training people for jobs is important and invest in new start ups. Weaponness & Ramshill we don't know what you do Weaponness & Ramshill Not sure what you are or are not doing! Weaponness & Ramshill Support for new and local businesses - financially, and how to set up as a new business - (shared knowledge and support groups) Weaponness & Ramshill not sure Weaponness & Ramshill I'm not sure of anything that is being done. Weaponness & Ramshill not enough done Weaponness & Ramshill More small industrial units with acceptable rent charges. Weaponness & Ramshill Press hard for duell carriageway A64 Weaponness & Ramshill keep it up given we have maybe the lowest average wage in England we need to sort Zero-hour contracts, pay below the minimum wage, Weaponness & Ramshill business rates so high they force closures. Weaponness & Ramshill We have so many homeless and underpaid people. Our only real opportunities are fast food/factory work. Weaponness & Ramshill Reduce business rates. More diverse businesses and shops being in the town centre and for them to be promoted by the Council initially. Reduction in Weaponness & Ramshill expensive car parking charges in town centre. Weaponness & Ramshill again I wonder if the council is fighting with one hand tied behind its back, it certainly is vocal about the case though Weaponness & Ramshill Town rates - more affordable to encourage investment and business Weaponness & Ramshill Keep plugging away for the Sirius Potash Mine nr Whitby Weaponness & Ramshill Only charge part time workers the proportion of Council Tax that they work in a week! SBC CT keeps people from working ! Weaponness & Ramshill Need to encourage improved transport links Weaponness & Ramshill No we don't do enough to drawn in or encourage bespoke business to start or thrive. Weaponness & Ramshill Provide better jobs and apprenticeships, especially for young people. Weaponness & Ramshill Keep pressing Government for help to improve transport links Weaponness & Ramshill Encourage more apprenticeships. UTC and CU in Scarborough were good ventures. Support TEC Weaponness & Ramshill Need more communication and information - open and transparent, in order to comment and suggest improvements

Page 80 Weaponness & Ramshill Stand up to the Government so that we do not receive from them less than folk in London More help and training for older people to develop new skills which may help them to set up businesses, or in turn help younger people Weaponness & Ramshill (or refresh old ones) Weaponness & Ramshill Ensure that businesses treat and pay employees fairly/good and best practice

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill Loads more to do but needs a major mind shift within the public sector (and others as well) THE LOCAL PROVISION OF MEANINGFUL TRAINING SEEMS TO BE INADEQUATE. THE RELEVANCE OF THAT Weaponness & Ramshill OFFERED TO REAL NEEDS SHOULD BE EXPLORED. Weaponness & Ramshill Yes, more start up concessions - rent and rates very expensive.

If people on benefit, particularly ESA, felt they could do voluntary work more without somehow being penalised for it they'd feel they were contributing something, and putting something back. Eventually they may be able to help themselves into Weaponness & Ramshill some paid work, but the DWPs "Work Capability Assessments" are so harsh and vindictive I feel people become scared to even try to do anything,

Ward Comment Better shops and restaurants Modern cinema Bigger budget for events to enable yearly events to be bigger with more attractions - so Weaponness & Ramshill people would be more likely to visit or stay in the Borough Fill in empty gaps such as Futurist site with an attraction for visitors

We need a more boutique offer in Scarborough instead of rows and rows of poor quality B and Bs - there is a real shortage of luxury Weaponness & Ramshill hotel and self catering accommodation Weaponness & Ramshill See previous answers i.e. use the expertise of the people whose day jobs it is Weaponness & Ramshill More seating in the town centre, more flowers, shrubs and outside eating and drinking Weaponness & Ramshill LOBBY FOR MORE FREQUENT AND RELIABLE RAIL LINKS. The varouis approaches to Scarborough needs to be litter free. Streets that used to be premier guest accommodation areas ie North Weaponness & Ramshill Marine Road now look neglected and scruffy - heading in the same direction as Blackpool. Weaponness & Ramshill Scarborough Contemporary (see previous) Encourage a boutique hotel into town? Weaponness & Ramshill Make the street scene more attractive e.g empty derelict buildings like St Thomas's hospital are not a good look. Too many potential tourist attractions left to degenerate: the star map, and the old sunbathing roof/buildig at the end of the Spa Complex. Very poor quality toilet facilities at the 'end of the Spa' (no hand washing facilities!!! and run down. Poor lighting on the Weaponness & Ramshill footpath from he Esplanade down to the Spa Footbridge: half a lamp post with no light on the top! I fell here, after a hip operation, in at dusk (early winter) as I could not see uneven patches in the damaged walkway.. more quality attractions more places where families can go if it is wet sensitive redevelopment of old Futurist site - not a funfair! more Weaponness & Ramshill evening busses Weaponness & Ramshill Don't waste millions destroying a building without guaranteed commitment . Weaponness & Ramshill better transport links, help to stop the closure of small hotels and guest houses, better tourist information facilities Nothing other than attracting a better type of tourist who doesn’t litter and drink and ruin the environment for those who live here. Far Weaponness & Ramshill too much emphasis on tourism and not enough emphasis on the people who live here. I don't really know what promotion is done for the Tourism side. Obviously special events like the open air concerts and weekends like the Jazz Festival bring people to stay from all over and they use the hotels. Everyone knows about the beaches so that's established. There is a big market for walkers cyclists etc who like the outdoors but would stay in a town for the evening offer. I notice a new venture in the town centre specific to this market and encouraging people with specialist interests to use the town as their base could Weaponness & Ramshill be an avenue to attracting extra visitors. Apart from our wonderful town there is so much to do around the area for naturalists, outdoor enthusiasts, fishermen, watersports whilst enjoying the benefits of Scarborough as a base. We need to attract as broad a customer base as possible, and maybe do more to move part of the offer more upmarket to draw in higher spending people. Sadly even my own daughter (now living in London) was worried that we were retiring to Scarborough. Now after many visits she really loves it, who wouldn't?

Think its the stay longer and return that needs to be the focus. Day trippers are great but boy they are messy! A greater balance across the two bays would be welcome. South Cliff does not appear to get the same funding in terms of what we see in the Weaponness & Ramshill environment to make it more attractive. Buildings looking dilapidated that are owned by the council. Often visitors we have had to stay comment how scruffy areas are whereas the north bay always looks so fresh. Of course we will always fight the weather too.

Page 85 Weaponness & Ramshill Tidy up the town a bit more, get rid of eyesores Weaponness & Ramshill More indoor family orientated activities. Park and Ride buses, routed to take in Clock Tower South Bay, Spa, Harbour, north Bay, Peaseholme Park, Town Centre. Popular visitor area, Esplanade, From Clock Tower to Ave Victoria, re Parking, no controls, no restrictions, no time limits, thus long Weaponness & Ramshill term vehicle dumping, taking up parking spaces, that should be available to Residents and Visitors. Need Controls, Parking Meters, could be considered, Resident Fees excluded, already paying high council taxes, Parking spaces allocated. Weaponness & Ramshill See my previous comments. A decent Tourist Information Office in or near the railway station, which is a focal point for visitors, is vital. Clean, rubbish free streets Weaponness & Ramshill and open areas with fewer 'eyesore' buildings. There are some good and new small cafes and shops opening but unfortunately much more needs to be done to improve Eastborough, Newborough and the town centre. Weaponness & Ramshill Who is deciding what visitors want, in order to attract them? There seems to be a focus on improving transport routes into the Borough at the moment, which is obviously a good thing, but I would have thought improving the facilities and offer of events and entertainment along with a mix of catering and accommodation should be Weaponness & Ramshill slightly more important, if you get this right people will find a way of getting here and then the improvement of transport connections will ease the hopefully increased popularity. Weaponness & Ramshill Parking too expensive. Very little for children to do. Weaponness & Ramshill provide tourist information Weaponness & Ramshill More promotion Weaponness & Ramshill back to my previous point Cleaner streets, do something about ugly, ruined sites like the old bathing centre on the South beach. It is an eyesore and has been Weaponness & Ramshill for the 14 years I've lived here. It is important but the town can concentrate on this to much and for most people who work in tourism there is low income and limited Weaponness & Ramshill opportunity Weaponness & Ramshill Tidy up the Harbour area behind the Ask Weaponness & Ramshill Architectural trails, ghost walks, things like Hartlepool historic quay are an inspiration. Weaponness & Ramshill cleaner streets, better public conveniences, better transport links , more funding for arts events Weaponness & Ramshill People do not want to come to a dirty, unattractive town. Weaponness & Ramshill Night time economy - vibrant "covered" areas for cafes, music, cultural events. Attractive, safe spaces. Weaponness & Ramshill more out of town advertising Weaponness & Ramshill Poor hotels (now offering bed only) which attracts the wrong sort of tourist. Bring back the futurist!!! Upgrade the seafront. Lower business rates to encourage smaller traders/more diversity. address the drug and homeless problem. Look at Whitby, 30 -20 years ago it was a failing town - losing it's ice house then the fishing fleet - closed Weaponness & Ramshill shops- unemployment etc. Now it is thriving - top quality accommodation, interesting shops - excellent places to ear - a top destination. Follow its example. Weaponness & Ramshill scarborough is charming but tired and run down e.g bathing building by spa, public toilets, bins outside grand hotel etc etc Weaponness & Ramshill we need local services for local residents Weaponness & Ramshill Less anti-youth activities, take control over car cruising scene and help them enjoy be safe not ban! Weaponness & Ramshill better visitor centres Weaponness & Ramshill Control seagull numbers

Page 86 Given the mindset which partners councils with large corporate development but with no penalty clauses for non-completion of latter Weaponness & Ramshill phases of development. Alpamare is too expensive, corner café is incomplete , just blocks of flats Weaponness & Ramshill We are lucky in that the beach is a natural resource for us. Weaponness & Ramshill Regenerating the town centre and South Bay. Less fish and chip places and make more of the harbour. Weaponness & Ramshill ix the scarce toilet problem it is awful Weaponness & Ramshill Need activities - if weather bad - projects slow eg cinema - utilise the seafront and town centre more. Weaponness & Ramshill Once again look closely at the town centre - attract a more varied clientele. Dogs/bikes. scooters - kept from high street. Indoor swimming pool which is redundant could be knocked down to create more parking especially for the Open Air Theatre also Weaponness & Ramshill cinema complex would be good. Weaponness & Ramshill What is being done? Train stations and bus stops should provide info 24/7 in signs/not leaflets Weaponness & Ramshill Whitby is too full with visitors already Weaponness & Ramshill Affordable all weather family facilities and a cinema Quality hotels More consistently reliable trains Support local accommodation by stopping planning permissions for HMO's near to them. Realise that hospitality brings a lot of money Weaponness & Ramshill into the town. Weaponness & Ramshill Do something about empty shops in town and make the journey into Scarborough more attractive. Weaponness & Ramshill Raise quality Weaponness & Ramshill Preserve the flag ship tourist attractions and market them better, instead of just "kiss me quick" impression of the town. Weaponness & Ramshill See previous comments Weaponness & Ramshill More activities Better advertising More shows (at Open Air) Weaponness & Ramshill As in theme 4 Weaponness & Ramshill More marketing in UK and Europe

Improve look of town - its shabby and empty shops give area a look of neglect. Parking is expensive. Park and Rides are unpopular. Weaponness & Ramshill People do not want to stay. It's difficult to speak positively about the town when it is so shabby. It looks great from a distance but you get closer and its clear that money needs to be spent. We need to attract people but keep them coming back.

Scarborough has it all when the weather is good. You need more indoor leisure provision on north side. Aquapark is hugely Weaponness & Ramshill expensive. A facility like Brid Leisure Centre would be good. Weaponness & Ramshill Some motorists leave with negative feelings when encountering unsympathetic traffic wardens Not enough is being done to improve road and rail links Not enough linkage of town centre to sea front activities Not enough visible Weaponness & Ramshill tourist information services Weaponness & Ramshill All said before Cut the cosy of this repetitive survey and invest the money into the Borough You should have done more to save the Futurist! How many kids come to Scarborough and say "great! we can visit the museum or Weaponness & Ramshill the Spa none. They come to see the Chuckle Brothers (the late) Weaponness & Ramshill Marketing and promotions/advertising not just on the internet

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill YOU ARE CONSISTENTLY MISSING THE BOROUGH'S BIGGEST PROBLEM - TRAFFIC CONGESTION! Weaponness & Ramshill Call people out for littering or feeding seagulls Weaponness & Ramshill No Use and invest in the existing venues - e.g. keep the indoor bowls centre including the bar and cafe open for longer and Weaponness & Ramshill initiate more activities there. There are well over 300 Bench Seats along the Esplanade and the South Cliff area, Many have metal plates, stating, love/ Weaponness & Ramshill enjoyed Scarborough etc etc. A number of Benches and Shelters need cleaning.. would consider, other ..those drawing unemployment pay Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing more. Weaponness & Ramshill More promotion Weaponness & Ramshill I do attend events but sometimes they are too pricey maybe give a discount to local people Weaponness & Ramshill Difficult to speak positively because the only good thing is Scarborough's natural beauty Weaponness & Ramshill not at the moment Weaponness & Ramshill Hard to speak about the borough positively at the moment. Some of the past Scarborough car cruises were the biggest in the UK, control it and take benefits out of it. Stricter Weaponness & Ramshill penalties, more information about NOT FEEDING THE GULLS! Signs in every chip shop with highlighted penalties. Weaponness & Ramshill Abolish traffic wardens Weaponness & Ramshill Activities have to be affordable. We need places where visitors can keep dry in wet weather eg glass house garden Weaponness & Ramshill Once again I struggle with being involved with this kind of thing because of what the DWP did, and still continue to do. Weaponness & Ramshill There are lots of things going on in Scarborough but difficult to find a source to get this information.

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill More frequent trains and better roads!!

Interesting but not my area of expertise so don't know how much SBC can actually make stuff happen within regional connections but Weaponness & Ramshill within the borough loads of ideas including community transport, better walking and cycling arrangements etc. As mentioned not my prime area of expertise but know that there are people in the borough who do know, so use them, listen, learn and change

Weaponness & Ramshill Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) for every business and residential dwelling Weaponness & Ramshill More trains and the timetable,ed ones to actually run on time AT THE RISK OF REPEATING MYSELF, FORM A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH TRANSPORT PROVIDERS AIMED AT MORE Weaponness & Ramshill AND QUICKER SERVICES. IN MY EXPERIENCE THE DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY IS ALREADY QUITE GOOD. Traffic and traffic flow is horrendous at any time in the town centre, south cliff and seamer road areas. No coordination between Weaponness & Ramshill utilities. The bus stop up from B and Q bus needs moving. Weaponness & Ramshill Better public transport. Plus improved cycle routes the "Plug into car club coastal" electric car club idea (see earlier) The half-hourly train to York could be great. I think they should run later though. The trains home from Hull should also run later, Weaponness & Ramshill allowing Scarborough people to enjoy nightlife in Hull or Beverley before returning home. Buses are inadequate especially in the evenings. Allow people to choose NOT to have a computer. This is the third time I have tried to Weaponness & Ramshill submit this survey! Weaponness & Ramshill Improve train links and . Have a free wifi zone in the whole town. Weaponness & Ramshill provide better local transport pressure for better road and rail links digital is important but remember all the old folk who find this difficult and keep some written or Weaponness & Ramshill face-to--face contact Weaponness & Ramshill The train service is rubbish, though it is earmarked for massive improvement which can only make life easier for us. Surprised how good this is but more frequent rail service to York (every half hour) would be better as trains are almost full in the winter Weaponness & Ramshill I dread to think what it is like in the summer. Trains to holiday resorts need more space for luggage. Like buses in most towns and cities the space for cases seem to have gone. Weaponness & Ramshill better rail connections. more wifi hotspots Roads in and out of the town, and better connections between Whitby and Scarb and Filey and Scarb. Uber:electric cycle banks and Weaponness & Ramshill scooters Weaponness & Ramshill Difficult as it all depends on central government and N Yorks. Can only keep pushing for results. Transport links a continued challenge. Not the councils fault but it is becoming laughable that yet again the A64 improvements are on Weaponness & Ramshill the back burner. Local transport seems good although I only use the train because the town itself and dentist, doctor, pharmacy, etc are all within easy walking distance and other services (hospital, vet, supermarket) are all a short drive away. It would be great if there was a local tram Weaponness & Ramshill or light rail system for accessing coastal towns north and south and especially for getting to Newcastle and northwards instead of having to first travel into York station. Weaponness & Ramshill More public transport and less encouragement for car users.

Page 93 IN The Summer Months, long traffic queues, coming into Scarborough. An effective Park and Ride system is needed., bus lanes are Weaponness & Ramshill effective, . Bus, Train and Taxi services, are very good, need publicising on web sites, to get visitors to utilise. probably need more taxis at the bus and rail terminus, As per previous comment on reliability and affordability of the train line. More bus routes that go across town, not just in and out of the centre. Sustainable active travel could be so easy in Scarborough - need to prioritise *decent* cycling provision (our current Weaponness & Ramshill infrastructure isn't cutting it with the exception of the cinder track), sort out the pavements (and the dog mess), and improve perceptions of the buses. Weaponness & Ramshill Encouraging better public transport Transport connections are reasonably good, if TPE can be sorted out giving a reliable service. Direct cable internet into the home Weaponness & Ramshill should be a priority. The present phone line system is outdated and slow. Extend support for IT development within communities. There are so many people in this Borough who can't use IT - excite them to Weaponness & Ramshill learn! I have already mentioned the Scarborough app and as I understand it we hoping the duel carriage ways on the A64 are due to start in Weaponness & Ramshill 2020? Weaponness & Ramshill Poor internet connection on south cliff. Poor public transport. Weaponness & Ramshill Electric buses. Better provision for cycles Trams Weaponness & Ramshill road links are terrible the new trains are loud cold and uncomfy Weaponness & Ramshill Late trains to/from York to enable people to go out for an evening and encourage visitors to our theatres and restaurants. Weaponness & Ramshill Everything seems fine Weaponness & Ramshill not sure how much of this in council remit Weaponness & Ramshill Not sure but Transpennine have been a joke for far too long. Need later running trains too. Weaponness & Ramshill improve on transport ie trains Weaponness & Ramshill better transport, trains Weaponness & Ramshill transport not good enough a64 needs dualing Weaponness & Ramshill Train and bus connectivity is poor. Weaponness & Ramshill better transport links to major cities Weaponness & Ramshill Haven't heard that you are doing anything on this theme Weaponness & Ramshill rail and bus transport must improve especially in rural areas Weaponness & Ramshill the shocking state of the A64 and the train services Actively support the dualling of the A64. Maybe support daily train to London like Harrogate/Skipton? Improve internet connections in Weaponness & Ramshill rural areas; 5G? Some places don't have 4G Weaponness & Ramshill scored 7 because much is good but I would like to see focus on electric vehicle usage and charging points Weaponness & Ramshill Town - put on information sessions Health/vulnerable/education children first aid etc Weaponness & Ramshill Trains! Trains! Trains - that run on time and regularly buses - well served Weaponness & Ramshill 30 free minutes in public library insufficient to carry out essential internet activities - Library staff RUDE! Weaponness & Ramshill Free parking A64 dual carriage way Weaponness & Ramshill Greater demonstration of leadership when services issues arise Appalling train service Improve pursue transport in rural areas. Weaponness & Ramshill New signage in town, pedestrianize down to beach Weaponness & Ramshill Lobbying

Make everything user friendly - accessible to prams and wheelchairs Improve bus services to outlying parts - e.g. Burniston and Cloughton. Service 93 is hopelessly over stretched in summer!! Link by Weaponness & Ramshill minibus? from station to market. Make market work it is isolated. Weaponness & Ramshill See comments about combined bus/rail station Weaponness & Ramshill Urgent action to improve rail links to facilitate access for residents/employers and visitors. Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill ENOUGH. Weaponness & Ramshill Need good cheap toilet facilities close to transport terminus Stop encouraging car usage e.g. by providing cheaper or free parking. Make it desirable for people to use local public Weaponness & Ramshill transport . Already walk and use public transport as much as possible. Cycling in and around Scarborough is dangerous... We have Weaponness & Ramshill lived in The Netherlands where cycling is a dream. Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing else. Weaponness & Ramshill Still need face to face access to council The train service was diabolical last year, needs attending to. Malton has late night buses to York, we don't. Ward Comment The council has allowed new homes to be built and there are some shared ownership options too. House prices here mean that it is Weaponness & Ramshill probably one of the few places in the country where a couple of minimum wage are able to afford a property Weaponness & Ramshill Actually this is one where I think you doing OK DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF GENUINE NEED WITHIN THE BOROUGH, AS OPPOSED TO PROFESSIONAL BEGGING. CLAMP Weaponness & Ramshill DOWN ON THE LATTER AND CONCENTRATE HELP ON THE FORMER. Don't build new homes unless additional infrastructure ie schools, health and social care are also put in place. Local GPs cannot cope Weaponness & Ramshill as it is. Despite the announcement of Rough Sleeping Money no signs of any proactive work to tackle those who I see rough sleeping every Weaponness & Ramshill day..... Weaponness & Ramshill OCCUPY EMPTY BUILDINGS Weaponness & Ramshill Selective licensing is a good start. Ensure HMOs are well managed. Work harder to re-use empty homes or other empty buildings. We see the same groups of people in different areas of the town and South Cliff, these people are sometimes drunk, loud, boisterous, Weaponness & Ramshill and scary or threatening BUT look vulnerable and desolate and alone. Weaponness & Ramshill Haven't been here long enough to rate this. Weaponness & Ramshill Very impressed with LLS, must be expanded into other wards ASAP. Reduce HMOs or stringently control their landlords Achieve double benefit by getting existing flats and houses brought up to scratch. Improves living accommodation, properties and keeps people near to town so they use the facilities. Sprawling further and further out with new builds adds to traffic and pollution Weaponness & Ramshill problems. Are there mechanisms to get landlords to make their buildings better insulated and in good condition? Obviously there will be a need for new houses too. No need for lots of very expensive ones. Not sure putting homeless people into hotels which attract tourists is a good idea. Re the incident in the ScEvNews a few weeks ago. Weaponness & Ramshill Many church halls, churches which are not well attended/used could be encouraged to support homeless people. More checks on landlords would be good, some very dilapidated properties in the Crown Terrace area. Is there a housing inspector? 'Affordable housing' is a catch-all that covers many types of housing. There is far too little good quality social housing that is well built and cheap/very low cost to run; its vital to get low income families and households out of fuel poverty for the long-term. Any local Weaponness & Ramshill authority serious about reaching carbon neutrality needs to be building new low to zero carbon housing, and making it borough policy for volume homebuilders to do likewise. See Hastoehousing.com in Essex. The borough needs a low to zero carbon strategy for retrofitting and all new development. Enforcement of laws regarding take over of empty properties and landlords' responsibilities regarding upkeep of properties. Council Weaponness & Ramshill ownership of housing stock. Weaponness & Ramshill In this day and age nobody should be homeless, everyone has the right to have a roof over their heads. Weaponness & Ramshill Am not aware of what you are doing. Street angels and various groups do lots to help. Weaponness & Ramshill Rather than building new homes, we need to maximise the usage of the infrastructure we have Weaponness & Ramshill Upkeep of the housing stock we already have. Stop knocking down beautiful buildings and replacing them with shoddy ones

Page 104 I don't know what can be done as I'm no expert. However there is no excuse for rough sleeping in this day and age as there is help Weaponness & Ramshill and payment for the unfortunate already. I presume those who sleep rough do it because they want to. This may be a hard response but I believe it to be an honest one. The appointment of a Rough Sleeping Coordinator is a good first starting point, but so many who sleep out want to, they won't accept a roof over their heads. Realistically there is no answer to that conundrum. There must be good quality affordable housing for young Weaponness & Ramshill people who live in the Borough, to aspire to having their own home. HMO's and rental accommodation is not the answer for this group of young people. There seems to be a lot of either unused or derelict properties around the Borough, if these are not council owned the landlords or owners of such properties should be persuaded to renovate, sell or lease. If some of these properties were made good we would have a better looking town and more affordable homes or places for vulnerable people. When I look around Scarbouough we don’t seem to Weaponness & Ramshill have excessive amounts of people sleeping on the streets, ideally we don’t want any, I have been to local meetings where members of our local constabulary have informed us that there are no known people sleeping rough at that time, I have then left such meetings and come across people that are sleeping rough, so mixed messages there! Weaponness & Ramshill Make more flats available in the town centre - many are empty. Weaponness & Ramshill Building 'green' houses. Using empty houses. Ensuring private landlords improve standards Weaponness & Ramshill There never used to be as many homeless people and with the amount of accommodation there is no excuse. Weaponness & Ramshill Housing is affordable here, residents don't take pride in rented accommodation. Weaponness & Ramshill develop sites for social housing provision, redevelopment of empty properties Weaponness & Ramshill Charge 2no home owners more Weaponness & Ramshill do more affordable housing on all ready started projects Weaponness & Ramshill More landlord checks to enaure quality houses. Weaponness & Ramshill people need to want to help themselves. there is help but do they want it? access those who do. Weaponness & Ramshill Homeless people/beggars in town are not acceptable. Suitable well managed hostels in appropriate area. Weaponness & Ramshill Encourage homeless people to take temporary paid work. Weaponness & Ramshill local people should be able to stay in the area instead of relocating people out of the borough Weaponness & Ramshill no more HMO's Weaponness & Ramshill There are too many homeless on the streets/more temp accomm needed Weaponness & Ramshill So many homeless people turning to drugs just to cope. This is a huge issue. Weaponness & Ramshill Nobody has to sleep rough. It's their choice. Send them to leeds. Weaponness & Ramshill More B&Bs and hotels being offered subsidies to provide rooms for the homeless in winter. I feel awful about why we can not fix it for roughs sleeper and the lack of affordable housing. more social housing council places Weaponness & Ramshill please Individuals need holding to account for home Ramshill back roads - bags rubbish encourages seagulls etc homeless - access Weaponness & Ramshill Rainbow Centre Relax planning on window replacement/energy. Planning Officers should work more collectively. Too much variation in outcomes of Weaponness & Ramshill planning requests. Be more vigilant in deciding purpose of existing properties. Weaponness & Ramshill Where do we go with this? Its a big problem for people on low incomes/or benefits (high rents etc) Weaponness & Ramshill Do more research into people you help find homes! You place violent/dangerous/mentally ill persons endangering others. Weaponness & Ramshill Despite the levy on landlords good landlords being penalised bad landlords not being dealt with e.g. Princess Street!

Page 105 Weaponness & Ramshill Start utilising the housing stock in the Borough by renovating ths rather than new houses. Extend Selective Licensing to all areas. Unachievable because most homes are private and therefore not under the control of SBC. Affordable homes - possibly. Affordable Weaponness & Ramshill rental - definitely. Weaponness & Ramshill More support for the homeless and those living in poverty. Make sure that social housing is closely monitored If they cannot look after the properties and neighbourhoods don't put them in prime Weaponness & Ramshill tourist spots Weaponness & Ramshill Lots of empty buildings could be converted into bedsits/small flats Weaponness & Ramshill Reduce developers loopholes Too many flats in Scarborough in Victorian houses which are not always maintained to a good standard. Not everyone has pride in Weaponness & Ramshill where they live. Weaponness & Ramshill More use of vacant lots to provide housing Weaponness & Ramshill Hostels to give people shelter - not sure if there are any Convert more empty properties in town centre to homes. Stop allowing ridiculously expensive "luxury flats" to be built (e.g. The Weaponness & Ramshill Lookout/Admirals View) Middle Deepdale development seems sound! Weaponness & Ramshill Ensure GP, dentists, schools are available to meet increasing needs Weaponness & Ramshill Improve handling of and quality of multiple occupancy buildings and maintain high standards Unlikely, as more homes are provided for the homeless more people will come from the cities. There are too many empty properties Weaponness & Ramshill which need using and some badly maintained see Princess Street. Weaponness & Ramshill more support is needed for those homeless people sleeping on shop doorways in the town centre Weaponness & Ramshill There are too many expensive flats being built. £250,000+ Most of them have been on the market for 2 years. I think there is a lot of work to be done repairing and improving existing homes. Austerity cuts have "stifled" budgets both for Council Weaponness & Ramshill houses and housing association. Weaponness & Ramshill That the number of homes built does not impinge on the environment and that a communities needs - good links/hospital/infrastructure

What else are you willing to do to help with a good quality home for all?

Ward Comment Weaponness & Ramshill I know there is great learning from elsewhere and I think this is an area where you could do more (but your already doing ok)

Weaponness & Ramshill ENOUGH. From what I can see there are more that enough new homes being built in and around Scarborough. Empty properties Weaponness & Ramshill should be controlled by SBC and filled/restored as soon as possible... The Breece building in West Street being a case in point. Home improvements and low energy costs are already implemented in our home.

Weaponness & Ramshill Nothing more. Better to make sure all houses are in use. I am not sure new houses are necessary but if they are make sure environmental Weaponness & Ramshill considerations are being properly evaluated. Weaponness & Ramshill No room Not too bad on the Esplanade Already done

Page 107 No local ownership of property for investment taking money out of the community which has always be reasonably poor Weaponness & Ramshill economically. Weaponness & Ramshill what about the pavilion on corner of belvedere and holbeck Are "new builds" the answer? Does area not have enough existing housing stock that could be "re-used", "re-purposed"? Weaponness & Ramshill (older buildings, disused) Weaponness & Ramshill not sure anyone who is renting should be made to keep to a certain level of tidiness in their own area not live in a tip, because it's Weaponness & Ramshill rented. Weaponness & Ramshill the amount of empty properties above shops is disgraceful and run down make business clean them up and put to use

Weaponness & Ramshill So many empty properties, shouldn't be an issue. The policy for only allowing replacements windows to be timber in conservation areas, is outdated and irrelevant modern Weaponness & Ramshill energy efficient upvc window systems are more energy efficient and cost effective than new timber windows. SOCIAL HOUSING! New homes are not enough it needs social housing the new homes been built are outside working class Weaponness & Ramshill peoples budget. Weaponness & Ramshill Re-use, re-purpose derelict/empty properties surely beneficial?

Weaponness & Ramshill Absolutely not- destruction of more wildlife habitat. Costs so much.

Weaponness & Ramshill Limited by leasehold flat dwelling.

Weaponness & Ramshill Place anti-social people in places they can be supervised to not ruin other properties. Comet building 7 years empty nothing done to get back into use. Could commercial properties be transformed into Weaponness & Ramshill residential if left empty for long periods of time? Weaponness & Ramshill Keeping the local area clean (like neighbourhood watch but for cleaning)

Weaponness & Ramshill Rather than just build new homes look at repurposing old buildings.

Weaponness & Ramshill Not the sort we've got in Holbeck Hill Plenty empty flats there - too expensive

Weaponness & Ramshill No space Most are holiday flats used in August Have done so in the past
