Aaron Flint Jamison (1979, vit et travaille à Portland), il a bénéficié d’expositions per- sonnelles à Artists Space, New York, Cubitt, Londres, CEC, Genève et castillo/corrales en 2011. Aaron Flint Jamison est le co-fondateur du centre d’art YU à Portland, Ore- gon et le fondateur et éditeur de Veneer Magazine. Cet été Yale Union et castillo/corrales ont permuté leurs espaces. Dans le cadre de cet échange, Yale Union organise chez castillo/corales l’exposition Love Shack avec Anne- Mie Van Kerckhoven dont le vernissage aura lieu le samedi 12 Septembre de 19h à 21h et sera visible jusqu’au 7 Novembre 2015. On the occasion of his second solo exhibition at Air de Paris, Aaron Flint Jamison edits «2x Scrypt Huffer». The work is a busy machine, a litany of nodes. Aaron Flint Jamison (1979, lives and works in Portland), his works were on view in solo exhibitions at Artists Space, New York, Cubitt, London, CEC, Geneva, castillo/ corrales, Paris and Liverpool Biennial. Aaron Flint Jamison is the co-founder of Yale Union art center in Portland, Oregon and is the founder and editor of Veneer Maga- zine. This summer Yale Union and castillo/corrales swapped their spaces. As part of this exchange, Yale Union will presents at castillo/corales the show Love Shack with Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven which opening will take place on Saturday, September 12, 7–9pm. Air de Paris www.airdeparis.com [email protected] Ingrid LUCHE Les œuvres d’Ingrid Luche s’inspirent pour certaines du contexte même de l’exposition. Jouant parfois avec des persistances rétiniennes de lieux fréquentés ou simplement fantasmés, ses œuvres intrigantes interrogent sans cesse notre perception des espaces en développant notamment une forme de temporalité intermédiaire : un présent qui n’est plus, un futur qui est déjà-vu. À l’instar de sa quatrième exposition personnelle prenant comme prétexte un lieu pré- cédemment investi et photographié, c’est lors d’une banale prise de vue de repérage de l’espace dévoué à sa future exposition que l’artiste s’aperçoit que les néons retrans- mis à travers un écran déforment et font vibrer Air de Paris ! Elle décide alors de le transformer davantage. Les œuvres présentées aujourd’hui résultent de cette courbure de l’espace - d’une exposition passée - et apportent une vision inédite en rapprochant notamment des points autrefois éloignés. Un phénomène qui dans le domaine de la cosmologie est déjà théoriquement possible ! Parmi les œuvres produites à l’occasion de cette exposition une autre espèce s’est invitée, cosmique cette fois. En effet, «Maquette pour une robe à partir de l’œuvre Sternhimmeltuch (1968) de Sigmar Polke, paraphée I. Luche » n’est pas seulement le déploiement et l’emprunt d’un titre énigmatique, c’est aussi la reproduction d’une constellation d’étoiles dans lesquelles Sigmar Polke écrivit son nom en 1986. Ingrid Luche superpose aujourd’hui le sien et transforme ainsi ce tissu spatial en nouvelle-née de la série des «Ghost Dresses». Et pourquoi pas se parer à présent de ses astres ? Dans cette nouvelle exposition, se cache aussi l’agrandisse- ment d’un livre sur lequel est gravé un dessin représentant Achille. Le point commun réside sans doute ici, dans le monde, le socle qu’il a volontairement quitté pour se voir plonger dans le fleuve… Il est parfois difficile de savoir si le cosmos convoqué dans les œuvres d’Ingrid Luche existe ou si nous l’avons rêvé ensemble, mais finalement cette dissociation n’a que peu d’importance dans le plaisir de découvrir ce nouveau voyage dans l’espace. Ingrid Luche (1971, vit et travaille à Paris) participera avec Air de Paris à Artissima/ section Present Future, Turin en Novembre 2015. Son installation permanente «The Gold, the Night & the Noon» est visible à Von-der-Heydt-Museum, Wuppertal ainsi que l’oeuvre «Morceau de lune» produite spécialement pour la Triennale de Beaufort «Beyond Borders». Elle participe également à l’exposition «Et nous voici plus bas et plus haut que jamais» organisée par Vincent Romagny à Chiso Gallery, Kyoto. Air de Paris www.airdeparis.com [email protected] In some cases Ingrid Luche’s works take their inspiration directly from the exhi- bition context. Sometimes making play with persistence of vision relating to places she has known or simply fantasised, her intriguing pieces endlessly challenge our spatial perceptions, notably by generating a kind of intermediate time frame: a no longer ex- tant present, a déjà vu future. As with her fourth solo exhibition, which took as its pretext a venue where she had already shown, it was after taking photographs of the space she would later use that the artist realised that the vibrations of the fluorescent lighting at Air de Paris set the gallery undulating. She then decided to alter the frame of reference by using another artist’s ex- hibition views as part of her project. The works on show here are the outcome of this use of curved space, creating a new vision by, among other things, bringing points in space closer than they were before – something already theoretically feasible in the field of cosmology. Among the works specially created for the exhibition is a new, cosmic kind: «Maquette pour une robe à partir de l’œuvre Sternenhimmeltuch (1968) de Sigmar Polke, paraphée I. Luche» not only involves borrowing and reusing an enigmatic title, it is also a reproduction of a constellation in which Sigmar Polke wrote his name in 1968. Here Luche overlays her own name and transforms this space cloth into the latest-born of her Ghost Dresses series. After all, why not use one’s stars as adornment? Also to be found in this exhibition is a blow-up of a book inscribed with a drawing of Achilles. The common factor is doubtless right here, in the world: the base he deliberately left so as to see himself plunge into the river… It is sometimes hard to tell if the cosmos conjured up by Ingrid Luche actually exists, or if we have dreamed it together. In the end, though, this disconnection is of little importance; what counts is the pleasure of discovery, of this new journey into space. Ingrid Luche (b. 1971, lives and works in Paris) will be joining Air de Paris in the Pre- sent Future section of Artissima, in Turin in November 2015. Her permanent instal- lation «The Gold, the Night & the Noon» can be seen at the Von-der-Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal, together with her «Morceau de Lune», specially created for «Beyond Borders», the fifth Beaufort Triennial in Ostend.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 20, 2021 CONTACT: Mikaela Hawk, [email protected] Fit to Print May 1 – June 30, 2021 PHILADELPHIA, PA – (April 20, 2021) The Print Center is pleased to present Fit to Print, an online exhibition which explores the use of newspapers in art from the post-war era to the present day. It addresses how artists work with the medium of newsprint as a nexus where the studio, everyday life and current events perennially merge and collide. This exploration is particularly timely in an age when truth in news is fractured and suspect, due to the proliferation of sensationalist stories pitted against traditional sources of journalism. Fit to Print features Lisa Blas, Jennifer Bolande, Chryssa, Laura Fields, Jef Geys, Beatriz González, Helena Hernmarck, Rita Maas, Dan Perjovschi, Donna Ruff, Soledad Salamé and Paul Thek. The works of these twelve modern and contemporary artists reveal slippages between everyday life and what is depicted and recounted on the printed, published page. In this exhibition, they present visual spaces of rupture as sites for re-inscription, socio-political critique and material transformation. In each artwork, image and language oscillate, stretching notions of time and triggering memories.     M HKA, Antwerp Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven 20.01–06.05.2012 22.01–29.04.2012 Introductie Introduction Introduction Spirits of Internationalism vindt gelijktijdig plaats in het M HKA in Antwerpen en het Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. De tentoonstelling behandelt de periode 1956 –1986, die wordt gekenmerkt door de bipolariteit van de Koude Oorlog en de verschillende reacties daartegen. Het vertrekpunt is de Benelux- regio, die zoals heel West-Europa actief de Amerikaanse overheersing omarmde – in de kunsten en op andere gebieden. Dat vertroebelde de bestaande relaties tussen kunstenaars over de continenten heen. De tentoonstelling toont, aan de hand van een dwarsdoorsnede van de kunst, enkele onverwachte gelijkenissen tussen kunstenaars die werkzaam zijn in het Westen, het Oosten en elders. De tentoonstelling is onderverdeeld in acht ‘spirits’ of denkbeelden: ‘het Concrete’, ‘het Essentiële’, ‘het Transcendente’, ‘het Ondermijnde’, ‘het (Ver)plaatsende’, ‘het Universele’, ‘het Gestelde’ en ‘het Geëngageerde’. Deze tentatieve categorieën nodigen u uit om nieuwe relaties tussen bekende en minder bekende kunstenaars en hun werken te exploreren. De spirits reflecteren ‘internationalisme’ op twee manieren. Aan de ene kant brengen ze kunstenaars bij elkaar die in verschillende landen wonen en werken. Aan de andere kant proberen ze aan te geven hoe de kunstwerken zweven tussen het specifieke en het algemene. De tentoonstelling is de laatste in een serie getiteld 1956–1986: Kunst van de neergang van het modernisme tot de opkomst van de globalisering.     For his new exhibition at Galerie Micheline Szwajcer, Jef Geys collects a number of concepts: As the old masters in their studio, he gives a “final touch” to the artworks, and like the apprentice, he completes his paintings by afixing the last clouds on the canvas. His system, that he baptized “format”, depicts the same subjects in different sizes. For Jef Geys, It is now time to understand the notion of “format” outside the IT technics and the “format”. The main reminds us the old-time studio. The activities of Martin Douven (1898-1973), a self-taught artist from Limburg, provide the starting point of the Jef Geys interest for production-line painting, for authenticity in art and for the creative process a work of art goes through. The man began selling his own paintings in 1928 in furniture shops. As soon has his nine children were old enough, he got them painting also. According to the method of the “painter’s chain” each child took care of a part of the canvas (blue sky, cloud, tree...), and the father would nish it off. In the 1950s the family Douven went to live in Leopoldsburg, where Jef Geys was living. He became friend with François, one of the Douven children, and was then able to visit the factory nearby in full productivity. Today Jef Geys takes great interest in the work of painter Jef Lenaers, born in 1943 in the Campine. He used to work at the Douven factory, and for this exhibition he reproduces some of the model paintings of the Douven factory in wich the sky has often the central place.
