Construction Noise Bylaws For Area Municipalities

Port Moody • 7am to 8 pm Monday to Saturday • Sunday or Statutory Holiday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., provided that such construction is not being carried out for profit or gain.

Vancouver • Construction on private property must be carried out between 7:30am and 8pm on any weekday that is not a holiday, and between 10am to 8pm on any Saturday that is not a holiday. Construction is not permitted on Sundays. • Street construction must be carried out between 7am and 8pm on any weekday or Saturday, and between 10am and 8pm on any Sunday or holiday.

Burnaby • No construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, landscaping or demolition shall be carried out: a) Before 7:00am or after 8:00pm from Monday to Friday. b) Before 9:00am or after 8:00pm on Saturday. c) At any time on Sunday or any Statutory holiday • At any time shall continuous noise exceed 85 dBA when measured at least 15.2 meters from the source in a residential, multifamily, public or institutional district.

Coquitlam • Construction noise Monday to Friday - 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. • Construction noise Saturdays - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. • Construction noise for non-profit projects (such as a homeowner building a deck) on Sundays and holidays - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. • The restrictions only relate to loud work that is a nuisance to neighbours. Construction activities that take place quietly indoors and don’t disturb neighbours, such as painting or electrical installations, are permitted at any time.

Port (Construction Noise) • 7 am to 7 pm Monday-Friday • 9 am to 7 pm Saturdays • No construction is permitted on Sundays and statutory holidays

New Westminster • Construction noise is permitted from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm from Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday. Construction noise is not permitted on statutory holidays. • Notwithstanding Section 4, a person may carry out Construction on his or her residence on a Sunday or other holiday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., provided that such Construction is not being carried out for profit or gain. For the purposes of this section, "Residence” means the place where the person regularly, normally or customarily lives. o Section 4 - Construction which disturbs the quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort and convenience of the neighbourhood or persons in the vicinity is not permitted, except during Permitted Hours.

District of North • Noise from construction projects is not allowed: before 7:00am or after 8:00pm from Monday-Friday. before 9:00am or after 5:00pm Saturdays. on a Sunday or statutory holiday.

City of • Permits construction activity to occur between the hours of: Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 8:00PM Saturday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Sunday & Statutory Holidays* PROHIBITED

Township of Langley • Allow construction noise from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with noise prohibited Sunday and statutory holidays.
