Once again we are offering top football coaching using the best club coaches trained by the Academy leading trainers. Summer Holiday Weeks 30th July and 20th August BOOK NOW Full details on www.cityyouthfc.com

  From the Secretary

Much of the emphasis for the past season has been off the field. The club marked its 40 years with a very successful reunion evening at Nicholas Breakspear School when many old members and managers relived their years with St Albans City Youth. Many thanks to Brian Pyke and his team for the organisation of this event.

The club’s continued input to the community under Dave Wray’s leadership, has been recognised by the District Council and is of great credit to all those involved. The all- weather pitch at Nicholas Breakspear School has finally come to fruition and will be in use for training next season. All credit here to Clive Attwood for getting things initially under way and to Mervyn Morgan for driving this through the red tape and opposition to a successful conclusion. This facility will clearly be of enormous benefit in the future. Forty years of ex- players and managers can only be jealous. Links have been established between the girls section and an American club which is likely to lead to exchange visits

On the field pride of place goes to Chris Johnson’s under 11 Girls South side who added to our County Cup triumphs. Other Cup winners were Mark Stevens under 12 North who completed a double winning the Watford Friendly League Challenge and League Cups, Mark Smith’s under 11 North coming back from 2 goals down to win the Watford Friendly League Spring Cup and Charlie Boswell’s and Matt Wyatt’s under 11 East in the West Herts Youth League League Cup and Tony Moss’s under 9 Central in the Mid Herts Youth League Divisional Cup. Matt and Charlie also led their team to League success as did Harpal Lailey with the under 10 East.

As always this season sees teams ending their time with St Albans City Youth as they move on. Paul Clarke’s under 18 girls and Peter Towndrow’s under 18 South leave us this year. We wish them all well in their future football and thank Paul and Peter for their input, not only to their team but also to the Club. We will miss Paul’s hair styles and Peter’s “invaluable” contributions to managers’ meetings. Perhaps mention should also be made of one member of Peter’s team as Jake Deacon moves on having become the player who has played the most games for the club with a massive 284 appearances. Also standing down this year are Kevan Parker and Stefan Weidmann who are handing over management of their teams and Neil Almond who is taking more of a back seat while as part of a reorganisation of the under 12 teams for next season Phil Cowley, Mike Leto and Gary Pollard are taking a break from management. Again the Club is very grateful for all they have done over the years. The end of the season will also see the departure of Sam Mardle who is one of the Club’s apprentices and who has made a huge impression across the club with his coaching skills and input. His involvement in the link with America has led to his being offered a post there. We wish him every success in the future.

None of the above would have been possible without the continuing selfless input of managers and coaches, including the young coaches who help at Saturday morning sessions, and the tolerance and understanding of their long suffering families.

Ian Woods

  Under 8’s Central

This team was only formed once the season was well under way and after a couple of false starts owing to the intervention of snow and frost, the boys played their first match on February 25th. They hit the ground running, with 6 different players getting on the score sheet. The season has continued in much the same vein ever since, with the players continuing to gel together, steadily improving their positional sense and team-play and most importantly loving their football.

Adam Guilder Very much a team player, Adam has great positional awareness, a nice touch on the ball and has also weighed in with a few goals.

Alejandro Moreno Fernandez The youngest member of the team, Alejandro adds a continental flavour to the team, particularly when it comes to goal celebrations! Alejandro has natural attacking instincts and is learning to develop his work rate and team play.

Benjamin Maher One of the team’s hat-trick heroes, Benjamin is most adept at releasing the ball at just the right time and bringing his team mates into the game.

Ben Wick Combative player, who is just as likely to be charging back to defend as charging forward to attack. Sheer determination, in conjunction with some good ball control has helped Ben to hit the back of the net in all six of the team’s League games.

Daragh Gallagher Undoubtedly possesses the best heading ability in the team; Daragh demonstrates good close control and dribbling skills and has made some decent tackles.

Graydon Orchard Displays immense strength when moving forward with the ball. Graydon has shown true quality in front of goal, simply sliding the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper. Has a goal- scoring record to rival Messi – with goals in all five of his League appearances at the time of writing.

Wasim Boksh The latest recruit, Wasim has slotted in well and bamboozles the opposition with deceptive speed and a neat little turn all of his own

Zahid Nasser Comfortable in any position, Zahid has put in accomplished performances in defence and midfield, as well as scoring a contender for Goal of the Season, when in attack.

Zakaria Mrabate Zak has good positional discipline, keeps his eye on the ball and makes timely interceptions again and again.

Samuel Baker-Madec Apps 22 Goals 5 At left wing or left back, he is a pleasure to watch a solid defender but great to watch him running down the wing making and taking goals

Sam McKenna Apps 19 Goals 4 Another left footer, this Sam is equally versatile and particularly strong as a left midfielder taking on defenders and great header of the ball.

Joe Flude Apps 24 Goals 2 Enjoys playing forward, but equally happy to play in midfield or at the back, his all round game has improved significantly through the season and we look forward to more to come next year.

Daniel Curran Apps 24 Goals 6 Another greatly improved player, as part time goal keeper he closes down players beautifully and comes out with confidence. Playing forward he takes on players and is a great shot taker.

Harrison Smith Apps 6 Goals 3 Our super sub, from the Under 7s, strong in defence, fast and skilful through the midfield and a great shot taker. He has been a great asset to have in reserve and we wish him well with his own team next season.

Under 8’s North U8’s South

Alex Laking-Jerez. Alex has demonstrated a relentless commitment to the team both as goalkeeper and midfielder. Thanks to his physical strength Alex is capable of chasing and intercepting the ball in any side of the field. As a goalie he is very calm, instinctively well positioned and never afraid of the ball or opponents

Ben Whitehouse. Ben is a brave goalkeeper and midfielder. He complements his natural instinct to save the ball with a strong drive to defend our goal. Both as goalie and field player Ben has made crucial saves throughout the season

Stefano Geymonat. Stefano is one of the best defenders in the league. Through a mix of physical strength, strategic vision and skill he is always capable not only to abort most of the opposition’s attacks but also recover the ball, dribble elegantly and pass the ball precisely to build up a goal chances.

Callum Solly. Callum is a very skilful player, he plays with both feet equally well and watching him tackling the opponents is a real pleasure. He has a great timing on the ball and this makes him a strong defender. He is also a very good goalkeeper.

Alex Woodford. Alex is a very reliable player and keeps his defensive position with great responsibility. He is always ready to repulse an attack. He is also very brave and his teammates respect him very much.

Leo Geymonat. With 36 goals Leo has proved to be a goalscoring machine. Apart from his extraordinary skill and strength, Leo is particularly motivated when the team is behind in the score, being the main contributor to memorable comebacks during the season. He is an example for team mates to follow for his dedication and commitment to the team

Sam Hicks. Sam is a vey skilful midfielder; he has a great touch of the ball and can easily slip away from the control of the defender and score goals. His movements are elegant and watching him playing is a pleasure.

Ryan Solly. Ryan is one of the quickest player of the team (if not the league!). He is a natural attacker and has an instinct for the goal (he has scored 12 times this season!): a real nightmare for any defender. His strike is potent and accurate.

Joseph Stone. Joseph is a strong striker who can easily generate goal chances through his powerful shots. As the season has progressed he is more involved in creating chances either through wing runs or providing crucial goal assists. He is always a phenomenal threat for the opposition.

Hector Almela-Lozano. Hector is passionate for football and takes it very seriously. He can play in any position with great flexibility and he is always a danger for the opponents. He has made tremendous progress this season and he is an asset for the team

UNDER 8’s WEST

The boys have had a great first season playing in the Mid Herts Rural League. They have developed as a formidable unit willing to take on any opposition, passing, defending and scoring some fantastic goals. We look forward to taking on anyone next season. A big thank you to all the parents who have contributed to an enjoyable season, to our sponsor Crabtree Consulting, to those that helped , put the goal-nets up, and be there for the boys rain or shine...... mostly rain!!.

Stats: Played 18 – Won 8, Drawn 5, Lost 5

Andrew Gentle: GK/Attacker: (Appearances 15 – Goals 3). A natural footballer who has grown up battling against two older brothers. This Leeds United fan is fearless in goal and tackles as hard as his heroes of old.

Finley Tetlow: GK/Midfield: (A10). As talented in goal as he is in the field. Always hunting for the ball and regularly stops the opposition with vital tackles.

Lucas Osborn: GK/Attacker: (A15 – G3). As happy flying through the air stopping shots as he is flying through the air to score. Not many teams have goalies that can score as easily as Lucas can.

Charlie Battle: Defence: (A15). Nothing gets past Charlie at Left Back. A top five pick who tackles so hard we feel it on the sidelines. He can turn a defensive position into attack with great ‘tekkers’.

Sam Tillin: Defence: (A14) A natural Right Back defender who hates too loose. Always a cool head under pressure who can be relied on to stop any opposition in their tracks, and move the ball straight back into attack.

Finley Kilner: Defence: (A15 – G1) The blond assassin, who sticks to the opposition like glue, then takes them down when close to goal.

Jack Farnham: Defence/Midfield: (A11) Football is in his genes, always works hard to close down the opposition and look for passes to set up goal scoring opportunities.

Jack Raffa: Defence/Midfield: (A15) Always smiling and always prepared to run his socks off in every position. Quick feet and creative passes.

Orlando Sandiford-Cummins: Defence/Midfield: (A8) Offers the team great options with the ability to dribble out of defence, and one of the hardest tackles on the pitch.

Fabian Brouwer: Midfield: (A8). Our Dutch signing who has added continental swagger to the team, who works hard all game tackling and passing.

Huw Dawson: Midfield: (A14 – G10) Runs on Duracell batteries. First on the team sheet each week, with the quickest feet in the squad. Loves to score, loves to win, loves football.

Ed McJannet: Midfield: (A15 – G19) Our Mid-Field-General with a world class left foot. Gives 110% every match and has become the player that binds the team together. Top Scorer this season who runs through opposition defences like a hot knife through butter. Man Utd….keep off!

Luke Roberts: Forward: (A15 – G12) In front of goal he does not miss. Born wearing football boots (ouch!) and a role model centre forward. He has racked up a hat-load of goals this season and a name to look for in the future.

Gaffers: Tony Moss and Richard Kelly. Honours: Played 28, Won 20, Drawn 2, Lost 6, For 72, Against 35. Herts County Cup Last 16 and MHRML Orange Division League Cup Winners. We are extremely proud of the attitude, determination and team spirit showed by our squad of12 boys who are rotated equally resulting in every player making a significant contribution to this seasons success, our first full season together in the MHRML.

1 - Jack "big cat" Kelly – Our number 1, prowls inside his penalty area, pouncing on every ball and indeed every striker venturing onto his territory. With his mean left foot, “big cat” has been known to venture up front into unfamiliar territory in search of goals.

2 - John "headhunter" McVeigh – Everything about this little lad is BIG! Big heart, big tackle, big head. If the ball is in the air, “headhunter” locks on, homes in and strikes with his head to plant the ball firmly in the back of the net, premiership style. 3 - James "rambo" McVeigh – Passionate, fierce and determined. Whether it’s a crunching tackle, a blistering run or a right foot screamer into the top corner, “rambo” can’t be held back. As the saying goes "when the going gets tough, the tough get going". We all dream of a team of “rambo’s” 4 - Tom "twinkletoes" McVeigh - this cheeky chap skips and dances, twisting and turning from defence to attack with the ball firmly glued to his feet making his opponents and spectators dizzy and confused. Go near him at your peril, he’ll make you look silly. 7 - Nick “pow pow” Powdrell - firing shots from all angles and with a brain that does the running, this clever fella conserves energy moving calmly round the pitch using vision and awareness to score from nothing, hit precise free kicks and corners or hold up the ball while his team mates find some space. 8 - Elliot “ice man” Smith – whether it’s controlling the midfield or defending as last man, this kid is cool, calm and composed, even in the most stressful circumstances. You can’t fluster him, you can’t confuse him, he just coolly goes about his business fearing nothing. 9 - Luis “el nino” Moreno – top goal scorer bringing a touch of continental class, “el nino” is Barcelona rolled into a single priceless player. Precision, touch, speed of thought and movement come naturally leaving opponents lost and bewildered as he leaves them for dust. 10 – Will “backbone bill” Brown – the spine of the team, plays every position through the middle from goalkeeper to centre forward with style, control and determination. Calmness and composure are consistently applied to take the pressure out of any heated situation. 12 - Angelo “cannonball” Calatrava – the proud owner of the Calatrava Cannonball and a tackle that sends unwary opponents into the middle of next week. When “cannonball” takes aim, opponents are advised to hit the deck, because when his foot makes contact with the ball, it’s dangerous. 14 - Corey “rocket man” Rodriguez – with legs as long as lampposts and a shot like the shell from a howitzer, speed and power combine to put fear into every opponent. With a beaming smile, knowing what is to come, he’ll bring the ball forward and unleash a fierce shot faster than the blink of an eye. 15 - Dan “miracle man” Baylis – whether it’s popping up in the opposing penalty box and tapping the ball into the net, skipping past opponents down the right or appearing in defence with a perfectly timed sliding tackle to prevent a goal being conceded, everyone asks “how did he do that?” 16 - Joe "mossy monster" Moss – running further than Paula Radcliffe and covering every blade of grass, never think you’ve got the better of the tenacious mossy monster, because he’ll be back faster than you can say “yes”, with challenge after relentless challenge until the ball is won and defence is turned into attack.

   Under 9 North

A thoroughly enjoyable season this year with its fair share of ups and downs, waterlogged pitches battling performances and a fair sparkling magic moments, an appearance in the divisional cup final and runners up in the King George tournament. They have each worked incredibly hard this year to improve their individual skill levels and as a result have progressed enormously as a team. The boys can be safe in the knowledge that they have done themselves, their coaches and their parent proud with their efforts this season. Well done boys it has been a pleasure to coach you Adam and Mark

Samuel Pollard Samuel “ The Cat “ is the unsung hero of this team, he has been an absolute rock this season and whenever the opposition gets through his team mates know they can rely on Samuel to produce the saves to win the game. Samuel has not missed a game or training session all season, has 9 clean sheets to his name and was deservedly named captain for the recent cup final.

Olly Townshend Olly has had a fantastic season and has made the position of the lone defender his own. He can be relied on to halt any attack and always puts in 100% effort. Olly is the “Mr Happy “of the team as whatever is happening on the pitch or training ground he always has a huge smile on his face.

Guy Butterworth Guy was voted players player of the season this year deservedly, a new member to the team this year who adapted straight away to his role. His ball control, running down the wing taking on any player that gets in his way have created numerous goals and he is the first player to get back and defend whenever our attacks break down.

Jake Fleming Jake has had another excellent season providing support in both defence and attack, his strength on and off the ball is second to none. Jake always gives 100% on and off the pitch, has scored a hatful of goals this year and has a wicked curl on his free kicks that even Ronaldo would be proud of.

Daniel Eaves Dan has had an brilliant season this year always putting 100% effort in and wears his “CITY“shirt with pride. Dan can be relied on to defend and attack and helps the rest of the team gel togeather as a unit is the player that makes the whole team tick. He has scored a number of goals this season and has the back heel trick perfected.

Daniel Ludwig A fantastic season for Dan who always works hard on the pitch both on match day and at training. He has scored a few goals this season including a memorable hatrick against St Albans Central. His strength and speed down the wing are a vital part of the team.

Tom Griffiths Tom was another new player this year and knew straight away that he had picked the correct team. Tom always puts 100% effort in and has come so close to scoring this season on numerous occasions. Tom is happiest with the ball at his feet using his speed to run past players and is never afraid to get stuck in with a tackle.

Daniel Hussain Dan has had a brilliant season this year and always seems to provide us with that little piece of “Messi magic”. It is without doubt that Dan has scored the Goal of the season this year an unbelievable volley from outside the box which flew into the top corner against Bengeo Tigers which is still available on “YouTube”.

Marcus Cunnington Yet another fantastic season this year from Marcus as the lone striker scoring an unbelievable 26 goals in all competitions. We can always rely on Marcus to be up there in the thick of it to put that final touch on the ball to drive it past the keeper. His scoring technique has improved so much that he scores from all around the box using different parts of his feet and body.

Will Monk Will has had a fantastic season this year and is the teams “Mr Reliable” you can always rely on Will to put in 100% effort and he is comfortable playing in every single outfield position of the team. Will is able to read the game very well and has a shot on him that is feared by keepers throughout the league.

Luka Beardsworth Luka has not been available for part of the season but when he has played he is a valued member of the team. He always plays and trains with a smile on his face and will fit into any position or role that is required of him and put in 100% effort.

    Under 9’s South

Led by 3 rather handsome coaches the boys have had a fantastic season. Although playing in a non- competitive league, they have been regarded by their opponents as one of the stronger teams in their division.

Goalkeeper Kit Rainford – Kit has shown excellent reflexes and managed to save many a shoot that had been heading towards the top corner. His positional awareness means he is like a sweeper for the team, he must also be working out as his goal kicks and throw outs have doubled in distance from the start of the season.

Defender Alex Harris – A versatile defender that is at home on either the left or right hand side. Happy to coolly take on the first attacker Alex, has improved tremendously as the season progressed and his ability to read the game and get in the right position has proved vital throughout this campaign.

Defender Max Varney – Our only left footed player has proved solid on the left side of defence all season, proving near impossible to get past. He has a fantastic knack of getting his foot to the ball just before any attacker breaking up play.

Defender Sam Doidge – Always calm and assured he has captained the side for the second half of the season. A fantastic defender that is also very comfortable on the ball. His ability to read the game ensures that the team can move quickly from defence to attack and back again if required.

Defender / Midfielder Mark Allan – Captained the side for the first half of the season. He is a strong tackling defender but normally also at the start of our attacking play. Equally at home in the midfield position means the team always has options. Always involved even when not on the pitch he leads by example.

Midfield Louis Baker-Madec – The heartbeat of our midfield, with an engine that is equal to a Rolls Royce. He not only has great skill on the ball and a fantastic eye for goal, but is always able to get back supporting the defence to win the ball back.

Midfield Will Baynham – A versatile midfielder, that has played on the left and right side, but has also proved very comfortable in the middle. His vision and ability to pick out the right pass has resulted in many of the teams goals. Good things tend to happen when Will is involved in the play

Midfield Charlie Barnett – A natural right sided winger with lightning speed that is able to take on players and deliver quality crosses into the box. Charlie is always up for it, usually smiling and always ready for action

Midfield Harvey Connor – A powerful addition to the midfield. Harvey is as happy taking players on as he is with the ball at his feet in dead ball situations. He has proved too strong for some of our opponents this year. Always got a ball at his feet which probably explains why his free kicks and corners are so good.

Midfield Scott Ovenden – He reads the game well, never gives up and has proved far “too hottie” for most of our opposition this year. He knows where the goal is and on top of that his pace and commitment makes him a formidable member of the team.

Midfield Freddie Collins – Another player who doesn’t give up, Freddie’s energy and commitment to the cause speaks volumes of his approach to the game. Tenacious in the tackle and out jumping every other player on the pitch at times, Freddie can be relied on when we need an impact player to shake things up. Under 9’s West

The Mighty Under 9 West – always improving, willing to listen and learn.

Ed Earl – regardless of the conditions Ed threw himself at everything that came his way, making some amazing saves throughout the season, a committed, determined individual.

Matthew Roome – caused significant problems for those in the way of anything he put on the end of his foot. His powerful kick, Delap style throw and strength in the tackle troubled many opposition teams.

Louis Johnston – played in various positions throughout the season and scored some valuable goals at crucial times. Enjoyed barking orders at unsuspecting defenders when playing in goal.

Tim Davies – his energy and enthusiasm shows no limits, with the ball at his feet he challenged opposition teams with his sound touch, setting up and scoring several quality goals with both feet.

Niall Kim – composure on the ball and a sound spatial awareness resulted in many valuable contributions to the team. His ability to think his way out of trouble in a calm manner often bewildered those watching.

Arin Mangan – strong in the tackle, using his sound defensive skills to stop anything in his way Arin’s strength in defence added a key ingredient to any successful team performance.

Robert Brown – a mature, calm, cool approach to dealing with anything that came his way. Plays the ball out from the back with skill, pushing forward more and more as the season progressed.

Luke Hill – speedy and spirited Luke’s contributions going forward and in defence this season were valuable. Always willing to take the game to others, Luke’s energy is his true strength.

Joshua Penning – a new edition to the West line-up for this season, Joshua fitted in well to the team. Proof that it is essential to use both feet Josh scored some amazing off his left foot.

Joe Scragg – always asked pertinent questions at crucial times, Joe has a sound knowledge of the game. Showing great composure in scoring some great goals and holding up the ball well for others.

Joe Cussans – his ability to use his left foot to score many classy goals this season added a vital dimension to the team. Joe has an acute awareness of where others are to play them into space.

Charlie Stewart – a never give up attitude makes Charlie a force to be wary of, working back and forth down the left or right, some classy finishing touches and goal assists.

Jason Roome – enjoys taking on the opposition with the ball, Jason scored a great goal away to Potters Bar, chipping the keeper from outside the area. Energetic throughout the season.

14th men/women/children – braved varying conditions, always positive and supportive. Player chauffeurs, match delegates, respect barrier markers, net hangers, ticket collectors, kit organisers – all for the measly reward of a warm cup of tea and bacon sandwich if they were lucky. Many thanks for your support.

Hannah “Mazy” Martin. (Alan Kennedy) Hannah is a great player to have in your side as she can do a great job up front or in her classic position as wing back. She has 2 great feet, goes off on mazy runs and scored our goal of the season.

Jessica “The Simpsonater” Simpson. () Jess is great up front but has recently found a new lease of life in midfield. Great vision, ball skills and turn of speed, give her some space and the other teams are Simpsonated!

Katie “Hot Shot”Holder. () Katie is our captain and playmaker in midfield. She plays in the centre, has a ferocious shot on her and has scored some sublime goals this year. She always gives her all and is currently our leading goal scorer.

Anouk “The Dazzler” Denton. () Anouk is a player’s player; natural, selfless and skilful she dazzles us all with her determination and ball skills. Plays in midfield, is fearless in defence and solid in attack –she can even play in goal!

Alice “The Boot” O’Brien. (Alan Hanson) Alice is a no-nonsense first pick defender, with long legs and no small amount of ball skill to boot! “If in doubt, hoof it out” is what we cry, but when given some time, Alice can turn on her elegant skill and land the ball on a sixpence.

Catherine “Sick Note” Buck. (Sammy Lee) One of our youngest players and what a player she is! She gives everything in defence for the team, has made countless last minute tackles and when we can get a full game from her we concede fewer goals and win more games.

Mariona “The Magician” Horne-Batet. () A Gladiator for the team going forwards. Maz plays up front on her own, she is a natural with both feet and has scored some wonder goals that have been vital for our success, just don’t ask her to track back!

Freya “Cookie” Cooke. (Ray Kennedy) Freya plays up front and sometimes in midfield, she has a silky left foot when she lets it fly and don’t be fooled by her demeanour – she is often our super sub and can change a game with one of her pin point passes.

Alice “AJ”Jones. (Jimmy Case) Alice gets stuck in and plays mainly in midfield, but can also fill a defenders position when called on. Alice has a big smile, but opponents beware, she is our secret smiling weapon and often makes crunching tackles and telling passes.

Ellie”Safe Hands” Ralph. (Bruce Grobbelaar) Ellie is the newest member of our squad and after a shaky start has made the keepers jersey her own. With some match saving one on one saves and fantastic shot stopping in recent weeks we are very pleased to have welcomed her to the team.

Following on from last year’s League Cup success the team were promoted into the Mid Herts Rural League top division this season. The boys quickly responded to the higher level of football and have developed and are now starting to implement in matches the skills learnt from the FA training drills.

The boys finished their season in characteristically strong fashion, winning their last three matches. They are all a real pleasure to coach and their enthusiasm and keenness to learn is inspiring. The boys want to train into the summer and are already looking forward to the step up to 9-a-side football next season.

The squad maintains its community feel and has fantastic regular support from the parents of the players. Thank you to all the boys parents for their continual support.

Lewis Covey-Crump (goalkeeper) (15 appearances) As an original member when the squad formed in 2005 Lewis is one of the most supportive team members. His favourite position is in goal and he continues to develop as a goalkeeper and makes some fine saves at crucial times. Kishan Dhivar (midfield) (23 appearances, 5 Goals) Kishan trained with the squad last year and made his debut this season. He has fitted in with his school friends and has also quickly developed his skills to play as part of the team. Kishan is an unselfish player who can spot a pass but also links well from midfield supplying the strikers with chances up front. Adam Johnson (striker) (25 appearances, 26 Goals) Adam once again finished the team’s top scorer averaging over a goal a game and finishing the season completing a late hatrick with two late goals to snatch victory. He has developed this season as a footballer and is now making better decisions linking play with his midfield and is also capable of holding the ball up front. James Johnson (midfielder,Goalkeeper) (22 appearances, 7 goals) James trained with the squad at the end of last season and has been a welcome addition to the squad. James is one of the team’s cleanest strikers of the football and scored in just his second game with a spectacular overhead kick to win a first round County Cup game. He certainly isn’t scared of a tackle and has now shown a desire and natural ability to play in goal. Thomas Liddelow (midfield) (18 appearances, 8 Goals) Thomas is a powerful footballer capable of unsettling any opposition but also driving forward from midfield earns his fair share of goals, many from outside the area. He finished the team’s second top scorer but is also able to play a defensive role in the team when required. Donald Mackay (defender) (17 appearances) Donald is one of the team’s strongest players and is rapidly developing into a tactically aware Central Defender. He is improving his spacial awareness on the football pitch but is also comfortable on the ball and able to take play forward and make quality passes to his team mates. Stefan Martin (midfield /defender) (26 appearances, 6 Goals) Stefan is an unselfish team player who only knows how to give 100%. He has really developed as a footballer this season but is in his element when grafting in holding midfield or defence breaking up play and moving the ball forward to his team mates. Stefan is capable of getting forward on occasions and the fans certainly know when he has scored. Ben Mehta (midfield/defender) (16 appearances, 1 Goal) Ben has really developed this season and is a popular, warm and friendly member of the squad. His technical skills have developed this year and is able to play comfortably both in midfield and defence. Ben is keen to keep improving and enjoys his training. George Pelham (Goalkeeper/midfield) (23 appearances, 6 Goals) George epitomises the spirit and effort of the squad and has a great sense of humour to keep the coaches on their toes. He never shies out of a tackle in midfield and is another capable of getting forward to keep his goal tally ticking over. George shows a very natural ability as a goalkeeper with excellent ball handling. Joel Rutherford (goalkeeper) (17 appearances) Joel is a brave and committed goalkeeper who tries his very best every time he pulls on the City Youth shirt. He has learnt more goalkeeping skills through the season and is a fine shot stopper. Joel continues to work hard and enjoys his training sessions. William Skinner (midfield) (27 appearances, 4 Goals) William has an excellent footballing brain and a work rate and team spirit to match. He will work up and down the pitch but will inevitably be in the right place at the right time when the team needs him, particularly if required to help out his defence. William scored one of the goals of the season with a fine diving header that would have graced any professional match. Matthew Stevens (defender/midfield) (18 appearances) Matthew is a delight to coach and is always keen to learn and develop his footballing skills. This year he has progressed and will utilise his speed and fitness to his advantage on the pitch. Matthew has improved his tackling and is now far from hesitant with the more physical aspects of the game. Thomas Tillin (defender) (18 appearances, 1 Goal) Tom has a great sense of humour and when not on the pitch has taken on the role of team motivator, to great effect when the team recently came from behind in the last 2 minutes to win 4-3. He is a defender that does the simple things very well and has a prestigious kick when required to move the ball forward quickly.

Under 11’s Girls South Another successful season for the girls, adding to their collection of silverware with their County Cup triumph. Our first season in Division 1 was also a great success. Despite a difficult start to the season, the South went on a 9 game winning streak that saw them rise to second in the table by Christmas, finally finishing 4th in a very competitive division. In a addition to the county cup win, the girls were also runners up in the HGFPL Shield final. The squad has tremendous team spirit, and incredible energy. They continue to challenge themselves with their new found love for FUTSAL, and are working hard raising money for their USA tour to Centreville, Ohio in 2014- as guests of City Youth’s sister club, Cusa Courage.

#1 Emily Sibley – Goal Keeper Sibo clearly loves her work, and is never happier than when covered in mud after a morning of throwing herself around the goal mouth. Her manager is a little happier when she finishes a game spotlessly clean. A brave keeper, who has pulled off some truly spectacular saves. #4 Francesca McGlenn – Defence/Midfield A hard working and brave player, strong in the challenge and excellent technique. Fran can play in defence and often plays out on the right. A dedicated trainer and highly valued member of the squad. #5 Sophie Hegerty – Defence Last season’s manager’s player of the year. Outstanding athlete, extremely quick with great timing and technique. Works hard to win the ball, and distributes the ball well. A sweet right foot when she has sight of goal. #7 Lauren Walker – Midfield/Attack Lauren joined the team at the beginning of the season from our North team. Lauren scored 32 goals in 25 appearances this season. A very talented and dedicated young lady with match winning ability. Phoebe has continued to score goals, and has also thrived playing in midfield in the latter part of this season. # 9 Hannah Coote – Midfield /Attack Another versatile player, who creates and scores goals in equal measures. A very quick, skilful, and very hard working player who is a great asset to the squad. #10 Molly Johnson – Defence/Midfield One of the squads many competent defenders, who is equally comfortable playing on the left side of midfield. Naturally left footed, Molly enjoys breaking up play and pushing forward ,assisting in attack. #11 Lauren Standing - Centre Midfield Squad captain, and a tremendous example to all her team mates. Extremely hardworking, and a genuine box to box player. Lewis Figg: having Lewis in the club would be similar to having Victor Valdez; excellent reading of the game and any striker would be pleased to score past. His throw is like a bullet pinpoint accuracy.

Owen Carrick: Owen is the stats man, he tells me the week before which team we are playing, goals scored and conceded. It’s like having in your team! Quality keeper, any striker will struggle to score against.

Harry Doherty: one of the most improved players this season he has become this team’s rock in defence. His attitude has been spot on and always leads by example.

Jacques Noltie: this player has no pulse! His like an assassin, you never see him coming. You will never see him panic on the ball. I believe next season he could push up into a midfielder.

Ernesto Rodriguez: the name says it all really - skilful, passionate, hardworking and won't let anything passed him. Ernesto has been a consistent performer this year.

Edward Shaw: signing on half way through the season and has spiced up the team. With the strength of a bull and technique of a South American. Won man of the match 3 times in 6 games.

Rocco Rahho: missed the middle of the season and the team started to starve of goals. The vision of this guy's passing is cake cutting sharp!

Max Bell: you talk about the complete package this guys got it all. Don't be fooled by his size he has been working intensely hard in the gym! He will pinch any defenders back pocket but need's to learn to SHOOT!!

Kai Chan: his been our Scotty Parker in the middle he breaks up everything and plays the short simple pass. His tucked in with some important goals as well. Most tenacious player in the team, doesn’t matter if he is carrying an injury of missing a leg he will always try his best.

Callum Sweeney: if St Albans gave away a award for most assists, this guy would have won it ten times over. The wizardry of his run's and the eye for a killer pass is sensational. Probably the most improved player on the team this season also netting in around 20 goals. Next season expect big things.

Michael Gabblah: one of our tree strikers who have netted over 100 goals added together. Only playing football for a season showed in the first half. But in the second half has been unstoppable with 26 goals in last 12 games.

Finley Banks: what a character, captain material and super hot finisher. Who says England stopped producing poachers? They just missed out on a diamond. Hitting an impressive 50 goals In his first season. You put him in front of goal your keeper may not as well be there.

Toby Byron: the striker who makes the impossible, possible. Bicycle kicks, volleys, scissors kicks he’s done it. This season providing some jaw dropping goals. Top goal scorer for district A and 100 goals hit in two seasons. I don't think it's the last we have seen of him.

Kwame Youri,: Kwame has every trick in his locker, once he learns to believe in himself he can reach any level. Very liked throughout the team and always tries very hard. Doesn’t matter if he loses the ball he will win it back.

Kyle Hooney: solid defender, unfortunately for us through this season he decided to become a goalkeeper and already having two means he hasn't played as many times as we would have liked.

League Runners Up and Winners Spring Shield 2011/2012

Goalkeeper Nathan Glasscoe – Has made many stunning saves this season and his bravery at the feet of all strikers is unrivalled. For some strange reason he loves the pitches to be very muddy!

Defender Ben Dimmock – Ben is as last year-Mr. Dependable, we have heard parents say as our opponents attack “it’s ok Ben’s there” on more than one occasion, never flustered and always there to protect his playing partners.

Defender Cameron Smith- Given a player to mark , Cameron never shirks from that big tackle and has been heard to growl a few times, always giving his all.

Central Defender Harry Watts – A new addition to our team this season and has slotted into the heart of defense, his reading of the game has added a new dimension.

Utility Player Tom Noble-Nesbit – Has played every position but between the sticks, he is fast, strong and determined and has come up with some great goals.

Midfielder Sam Day- Another new member of our squad and despite not being the biggest , Sam has come out on top against many a player half his size again. Sam scored perhaps the most important goal this season to put us into the Spring Shield Final

Midfield Rob Mckee - Rob has found his natural position and has made it look easy. He is brave, strong and his link up play with the rest of the midfield has made the team tick.

Wide Midfielder Matthew Breeze - Scored some great goals and works hard for the team, Matt has also covered perhaps the most mileage on the pitch and has often cleared off the line and then been up in the opponents area in the blink of an eye.

Central Midfielder Harry Smith (Captain)- Harry as always, has played with passion and determination this season, a strong tackler and as many of our opponents have found out he has a match winning free kick in his boots.

Wide Midfielder Mario Eguiluz- Has great skill on the ball and has played consistently well. Mario Is great at running at defenses and like Matt has covered mile after mile and has scored some spectacular goals

Striker Jack Hughes – Deceptive in front of goal and only needs half a chance to unleash his wicked left foot and beware any defender who dwells too long on the ball as Jack is likely to pounce.

Striker Dominic Dee – Dominic is not only deadly in front of goal he is one of the best crossers of the ball at speed. He would even have a go at getting at the end of his cross if he could.

   Under 11’s Orient

Aaron Cowley – As solid as ever in right back but has added a new attacking element to his game resulting in a move to right wing. From here he has provided some valuable assists as well as some goals.

Ben Muckleston – Mainly played as an attacking winger or forward but who has developed very well defensively and now looks very comfortable at right back also.

Brendan Warren – A lynch-pin in the defence and able to play left, right or centre. Was much-missed during a long lay-off due to injury but back to his usual high standard for the remainder of the season.

Bryn Rigarlsford – A great debut season for Orient providing some real steel to the central midfield role. A good passer of the ball with a cool finish when played further up front.

Callum Ralph - This has been an extremely busy season with much opportunity for practice in all aspects of goal-keeping !! Has kept his head up well during difficult times and shown good improvement in the command of his six-yard area.

Dominic Knaggs – Dedicated team captain. Always comfortable on the ball and a real handful for any opposition what-ever position he is playing. Dangerous and tricky in mid-field, composed and creative when at right-back.

Henry Pike – Has stepped up to the role of playing in central midfield extremely well and always has lots of running and energy – he pops up over the pitch. Links up play and creates chances for the forward players.

Jamie Durham – An excellent first season and has made the step up to league football look easy. Brave in the challenge and disciplined in positioning, always looking to set things up for the midfield players in front of him.

Lee Axworthy – A consistent and reliable player regardless of the position he is asked to play in. Primarily a midfielder but played much in defence because of his cool tackling & ability to play out from the back. Now looking to add the role of good goal-keeper to his CV !!

Louis Goosey – Has played much of the season as the lone front man due to his ability to dribble and shoot with the ball. A strong player who always gives at least 100 % and who always gives the opposition’s defence something to think about.

Matt Hicks – joined half-way through the season, answering an S.O.S. for a high-standard out-field player. Plays mainly on the wing and bagged his first goal in only his second start for Orient.

Manger Nick Doyle

Assistants Tony Pringle & Neil Newton

The team enjoyed another fine season performing admirably in the ultra competitive premier division of the Mid Herts and adapting well to the 9 a side format. The consistently high attendance at training speaks volumes for the team spirit and friendships that have developed and no little talent on show- the group have been a pleasure to coach. All credit to the support of the parents and the help from Tony and Neil throughout another roller coaster but enjoyable season.

Austin Dilkes (21 appearances, 0 goals) Improved in all aspects of his goalkeeping finishing the season strongly and very popular character in dressing room.

Ed Stafford (20,3) Didn’t come across a better left back all season although clearly prefers playing in a more advanced position! Great crosser of the ball.

Jed Lumb (17,4) Two footed, fantastic athlete who has a great engine covering the ground with his long stride. Bagged his first hat trick this season.

Harrison Doyle (20,3) Skilful winger, regularly chips in with disallowed goals. Great on set piece delivery and high on assists. Never known to have a cross word with the manager.

Ollie Driscoll (3.2). A handful of excellent performances from a top draw player whose appearances were limited due to district commitments.

Harrison Arnold (9,1) Another district player but highly competitive and strong in the tackle. Fit as a flea and leads by example.

George Heeley (6,0). The third of my district players, very talented and mobile. The district were fortunate to have him.

Jack Fletcher (17,2) Powerful player, physical and two footed. Lots of scope but awful joke teller.

Guy Miller (19,1) Calming influence, great passer of the ball and best dressed player. Joint most hair products with Harrison D.

Adam Pringle (20,32) Midfield dynamo, best header in team and dominant in the middle of the park. Superb athlete.

Ben Campbell (18,0) First season with us ,fitted in brilliantly and great attitude. Shot like a hammer.

Callum Furness (17,0) Made huge strides this season with excellent defensive displays and also signs of a right foot

Callum Hunter (18,2) Debut season and lighting quick. Joker in pack though not sure on his musical tastes.

Joe Newton (22,30) He scores when he wants. High accolade of top scorer in the league. I wouldn’t like to play against him.

Fergus Sherwood (17,7) Captain marvel and chipped in with seven goals from midfield. Goal of the season against Wheathamstead.

  Under 11’s West

Noah Charsley-Smith - Once again Noah has had a tremendous season at the heart of our defence. He's been strong, quick and very few opposition players have got past him! It's been great to see how his ability to read the game has improved even further this year. Another excellent season.

Joe Parkin - Joe is another key member of our defence and he too has had a great season. His tackling has been the key area of his game that has improved this year - I certainly wouldn't like to be tackled by him. Joe is a much valued member of the team - he's both a very able player with a great team spirit and overall attitude.

Cameron Clark - What can I say - league's top goal scorer for the second year running (33 goals). It's not only the quantum of goals that impresses, but also the quality. Some have been truly breathtaking and the power and composure he shows is truly beyond his years. Cameron always tries his best. Well done Cam.

Mohamed Mazari - Mohamed has proved to be one our most versatile players this year; he has played in goal, defence, midfield and upfront. He has always proved willing to do whatever is required of him for the team. Mohamed’s tackling has been excellent this year – well done for another successful season.

Pippa Palmer - Pippa has played left back this year. Her tackling and passing has improved tremendously this year. She never panics on the ball – her composure is an example to all. It’s been great to have Pippa in the team over the last three years and we wish her all the best as she transfers over the St Albans girls set up.

Matthew Nash - Matthew has made the left midfield position his own this year. His darting runs down the left flank have left have frustrated many of our opposition teams. Not only has Matthew scored 16 league goals this year, but he has also had an endless number of assist. Well done Matthew; great season!

Ollie Wakeling - Ollie’s first season with us has been a successful one. He started off playing in goal and defence. In goal he regularly pulled off some great saves and his defensive play was equally effective. More recently he has played some games in midfield. His tackling and energy has been an example to all. Well done Ollie – we are glad you joined the team!

James Pollard - Most of James’ games have been played in defence this year. His enthusiasm and continual running have been great to see. He always gives his all when he's on the pitch. His tackling and passing have improved greatly this year and we wish him all the best as he goes onto new things next year. Well done on a great three years with St Albans West!

Daniel Napier - Daniel's sheer persistence is great to see; he never gives up. He has had another good season playing primarily in either defence or midfield. Amongst other areas of improvement, Daniel's passing has improved greatly this year. He always tries to play ball to feet. Daniel’s attitude is excellent; works hard, enthusiastic and always shows a great attitude. Well done Daniel, another great season.

Sam Leto - Sam started off the season playing in midfield. His tackling and strong runs have been great to see this year. More recently Sam has been playing in goal. Some have said that it's a shame he didn't start there - he's pulled off some superb saves since being in goal. The best one the manager missed because I turned away thinking it was definitely going to be a goal to the opposition. Well done Sam and all the best for next year.

Thomas Keating - Tom has had another impressive season in the centre of our midfield. His skillful ball control has frustrated many an opposition player. He has linked brilliantly with our centre forward and he's scored his fair share of really important goals for the team. He has also played an extremely important defensive role for the team; he always works hard to get back when we are defending an opposition attack. Well done Tom, another great season.

Harrison Bean - Harrison has had another really good year for the club. He's been a versatile player, playing most of his games on the right hand side of midfield. He's also helped out on occasions in defence. He's responded well to both challenges. Harrison sets really high standards for himself and it has been great to see how his tackling and general distribution has improved this year. He's played a key part in a number of goals including scoring one or two great goals himself.

Ross Andrews - Ross has played most of the season on the right hand side of midfield. His weaving runs down the right hand side of the pitch have been great to see. He has used his speed to maximum effect and is also one of the best crossers of the ball in the league. Not only has he created a large number of our goals, but he has also scored his fair share. Some have been absolute classics! Well done Ross.

Jack Rose - Jack has played everywhere this season - what a versatile player. He's pulled off some great saves in goal and scored some great goals on pitch. Jack is a skillful player and his tackling has come on well this year. What epitomises Jack's game is the sheer effort he puts into it. One never has to tell Jack to try harder! Great effort Jack and well done on another great season.

Solomon Goslin: has tried his hardest all season putting in much effort. Although his a year younger and the goal being a lot bigger than him he still managed to spring to the top corner on many occasions. Thomas Johnson: he has really impressed me this always giving 110% to the team and lead by example. Not given the chance by many Thomas showed those critics by screaming in a great penalty late in the season. Sam Abington: very versatile player, I can say defence and he will be the best defender or upfront and believe in him to score me a goal. Keep up the good work buddy. Joe Woods: Has improved other the season, he has become a very good right back. He attacks well and because he has super fitness he manages to get back and make a last ditching tackle. Because of this he has increased his confidence and you can see it in his overall game. Lewis Palmer: he was a striker when he first signed on for me, but straight away I could see a composed player who at times looks as if he doesn’t hold a pulse. Since playing in defence he has helped the team to stop leaking in goals and started the first pass of many good attacks. Joe Jones: A little lad who had a few confidence issue’s at the start but now you cant stop him talking. He has always given his best and tries very hard in training. I think the main thing he should take from this season is how he built up a social side and now he interacts with the players so much he disturbs all my sessions! Only kidding I would change him his been a great player to work with keep it up messi. Harrison Gates: this guy would give Ronaldinho a run for his money with tricks. Any defender he comes across he has them in his back pocket. Tormenting defences all season long just couldn’t put the end product to the amazing run. Very similar to boom boom bale, I honestly believe this guy is going to turn class! Morgan Denziel :A special player who is a year younger and wowed all the spectators with incredible vision. This guy has got no heights he will reach any level he wishes to and I honestly believe he could potentially become one of the best players at his age group. Alex Gates: back up keeper to top goal scorer you name it he can play it. Hasn’t got a weakness I’ve seen him score 30 yarders to a tap in this boy really has a talent. A big thank you to him for helping us so much this season and without his precise runs and poacher like finishing I think this season would have been a lot harder. Harry Vincent: Passing and moving he does it so simple, doesn’t look it but he has the strength of an ox. I think secretly he goes down the gym during the week!! Chipped in with some eye catching mouth-watering goals this season and I wish him the very best in the future! Eoin Kellett: He is a funny paddy who makes everyone laugh as he talks about Guinness like he owns a pub and drinks it. Enough talking about his drinking addiction and go onto his football, playing Rugby for the first half of the season you don’t know what you have missed until he plays the second half. our record improved and he was our Scotty parker breaking everything up and was a brick wall. Joe Rock: Top class player could play at any level but he day dreams to much (teenage boy, hate to think what his thinking) he has wizardry skill and skips between defenders like they wasn’t there. When he wants it there is no stopping him! Matt Purkis : what a great tenacious midfielder dynmino, never seen a little lad send older boy’s up in there air so easy. Must be in the colour hair, this guy is a bulldog if he loses the ball very rarely does he not win it back. Adam Purkis: This player is moving onto better and bigger things next season and possibly should have been the captain. He always leads by example and I think most players would like to have his attributes. Great athlete he picks up the ball and can run 30 yards then lay of an amazing pass for one of our fire hot finishers to tap in. Olly Brett: good player possibly didn’t get enough time in the position he enjoyed the most. Will always work hard never the less and his a great character. Shame he support city you though! Got a left foot and a right foot and once he starts to grow he can add in goals with his head. Harry Bell : when this guy run’s it’s hard to keep you head on him ‘Its Lightning quick’ but like every rapid player they need to improve the final product. He has bags of talent and was the leader of the team with his funny personality. Still looking for a club and once he is pushed hard enough which has been by biggest regret he will become your star. Demetrius Woods : this guy’s feet must have ball magnets in doesn’t matter where he put’s his foot the ball stays with him. Keep up the good work, he is a year younger but he will become a very good player.

The Under 12’s North have enjoyed a fantastic season with victories in both the WFL League Cup and Challenge cup and have been in the top two of the Red division all season. The Treble was a real and deserved possibly up until the last weeks of the season, however playing five games (including 2 cup finals) in two weeks proved just a physical ask too far. However the North have had season they should be very proud of indeed, well done lads!

Despite time out this season with injury, David was at times unplayable for defenses. His four goal League Cup final performance was arguably the best display ever from a player in this squad!

Daniel Osborn (app. 29 goals 0) Another excellent season for Goalkeeper Daniel. His amazing calmness and concentration are astonishing at this age. Daniel has been available for all games expect one this season, an enormous boost for the team and one that has allowed us to win trophies, he is simply irreplaceable.

A very important utility player who can play across the back or in midfield. Great tackler, very fit and breaks up opposition play as well as anyone. Great season Sam.

James McCallum (app. 28 goals 12) James is a powerful striker with a great shot and can do attitude. He has shown an excellent attitude this season and always puts in 100%. Barnaby Hope – Right Midfield – 19 appearances, has delivered some superb crosses with determined running down the right.

Ethan Sayers – Striker – 11 appearances, last of the new players to League football and has shown determination and desire to play the game when available.

Paul Lambert – Manager – Team formed last August with only 4 players, the other members of the squad came from advertising in the local press. In the short time the boys have played together they have shown a desire to practise passing football, a promising start to a new team in the League finishing third in their division despite only having lost 2 games.

  Under 12’s South

This has been a very tough season for the boys having moved up to the WFL White Division. With the addition of some new players they have played really well without results in our favour. We ended the season as the 2nd strongest team in the Division in 8th Place

A special thanks to Greg Gosling who brings fresh ideas to training and helped run the team. Plus some great help from the lads Ant Gosling & Chris Ladyman

JACK ARMSTRONG – 22 Appearances. Defender – he’s found the physical side of being in the white division tough this season, although his speed helps him out and he always works hard in defence or midfield.

ANDREW BAILEY – 23 Appearances & 3 Goals. Goalkeeper/Defender and Team Captain – He’s played a lot of games on the pitch this year and performed well with Dan as a Centre Back, but will always play in goal when asked and during the season has produced some world class saves. Andrew has been a great servant to the club and has played more games for this team than any other player.

CONNOR CASEY – 18 Appearances & 1 Goal. Midfield/Defender - Probably the best utility player in the team, has played a lot of games as right back this season, but will also play a central midfielder role; he’s grown a lot this year which has made him a stronger player. A memorable performance away to Panathinaikos

ALEX COX – 24 Appearances & 6 Goals. Midfielder/Striker – Alex transferred from the East at the start of the season and has made a great impact to the team, playing mostly alongside Art in midfield he likes to pick up the ball and drive forward and is not afraid to go it alone and score. His tally of 6 goals this season is a great contribution, including 1 of 2 wonder goals from half way against AC Finchley. He always stands out on the pitch, although who wouldn’t in those mango coloured boots!

ALE FARDELLA – 24 Appearances & 14 Goals. Striker/Midfielder – Ale was new to the team this year and has had a great debut season, He’s got a rocket of a shot and can use both feet, when he gets the ball and runs at players they simply cannot stop him. He has scored a lot of goals this season from outside the box, including ….the other wonder goal from half way against AC Finchley

MATTY GALLAGHER – 11 Appearances & 4 Goals. Striker/Midfield - Matty moved to the U12 West, part way through the season, we wish him well. Scored a 30 yard screamer at Highfield earlier in the season

TOM GORDON – 20 Appearances. Defender/Midfield – Tom transferred to us from the North this season, he had a slow start but boy has he made up for it! A fantastic end to the season, a tough cookie he’s rarely been beaten. One of the first names on the team sheet now

BEN GOSLING – 25 Appearances & 26 Goals. Striker - Ben has improved his goal tally as a striker this year and played in every game. Four exceptional performances:

Aldenham 3 Ben Gosling 3, Panathinaikos 3 Ben Gosling 3, Finchley 1 Ben Gosling 3, Cassiobury 1 Ben Gosling 3

CRAIG HERMON– 23 Appearances. Defender - A tough year for Craig in keeping up the pace of the White Division. He always works hard and gives 100%. He has a unique way of preparing for a match, he imagines he’s in Minecraft and the other team are a hoard of zombies!

JAMES MASON– 7 Appearances. Defender – Another player who moved to the U12 West, part way through the season, we wish him well.

DANIEL NEWTON – 24 Appearances & 4 Goals. Defender & Vice Captain – Another sensational season for Dan at Centre Back, although quite frankly you could play him anywhere. He’s the heart and soul of this team, a very popular with his team mates.

ART O’NEILL – 25 Appearances & 3 Goals. Midfield - Art has sacrificed his goal scoring from last season to play more for the team this year in his role as a central midfielder; he’s also grown about another 6 inches! He wins the ball and drives forward to support the strikers. A player who has the ability to dominate & control the game.

HARRY ROSS – 24 Appearances & 10 Goals. Midfield– Another good season out on the wide right of midfield, every team could do with a Harry! Why? Because he gets back and supports defenders but will always bust a gut to get in the box, and his reward is 10 goals, nice one.

ADAM SKINNER – 19 Appearances & 2 Goals. Midfield – Has mainly continued his role on the wide left midfield this season. Another player that absolutely works his butt off in a game, has got more stamina than anyone that I’ve ever seen!

RYAN SUTTON - 20 Appearances. Goalkeeper – new to the team this season as the 2nd goalie but has probably started in most of his appearances. He’s technically a very good keeper but found the White Division tough this year.

JARED WALSH – 23 Appearances & 1 Goal. Midfield – Jared enjoys his football and has continued to play well this season, he works very hard in midfield to win the ball and drive forward. 1st April, he was the happiest person on the pitch that day as he scored his first goal for the club

JAMIE WOODFORD – 23 Appearances & 1 Goal. Defender – Jamie has dedicated more to his football this season in his hectic social life and it’s paid dividends, he has consolidated his role as a central defender, big, strong and hard to get past, he too also scored his first goal for the club against Sun Postal.

Having gained automatic promotion last season by finishing second in our league ,the team struggled to produce the same form this season We got off to a bad start as we lost some key players through injury and leaving .What we lacked in form this season we made up with a fantastic team spirit and unrivalled support from the parents It was hard to single any one player out as there were some outstanding performances over the year both individually and as a Team as the boys battled against the odds week in and week out

Towards the end of the season the team spirit and support started to pay off and we won The George Walker Trophy and reached the semi-finals of the Spring Cup Having made some useful additions to our squad we now are looking to build on the success the team achieved in the latter part of the season .

A season of two halves for the U13 Girls. September started brightly, coming runners-up in the Start of Season Tournament. League matches too went our way, losing only 1 game before Christmas. What happened over Christmas? I am not sure, but we didn’t win again until April! In the end we finished exactly mid table, with a convincing win in our final match, which will carry us through to next season! Thank you girls for your regular attendance at training and keeping cheerful through the mid-season blues!

April Harpin (GK; app 20; goals 0) – Continues to improve. April has made some excellent saves throughout the season. In some matches, she has had plenty of practice too! Quick off her line, to pick up or clear a through ball.

Julia Halligan (Def; app 8; goals 0) – A determined defender who would always do what was asked of her. She had some excellent games against good wingers. Unfortunately, we lost her before Christmas, due to her other commitments.

Daisy Shinn (Def; app 18; goals 0) – A defender who can win tackles, when she believes that she can. Listens to instructions and always carries them out. She is faster than she thinks she is. Her passing out of defence continues to improve.

Ellen Treadwell (Def; app 18; goals 0) – Has continued to play a pivotal role in the middle of defence. Excellent tackler and confidently takes the ball forward into midfield, but will never head it! Always smiling, whatever the score.

Phoebe Harris (Def; app 19; goals 0) - Phoebe is fast and can tackle or dispossess all wingers in the league. Much to her disbelief, she has discovered that she can pass the ball accurately out of defence this season and take good “throw-ins”. Needs more sleep for early kick-offs!

Hannah Roberts (Def/Mid; app 21; goals 0) – Hannah works hard, whatever role she is asked to play. She runs and tackles well for the ball and looks to pass it constructively. Needs more confidence to shoot when the chances occur!

Abbie Sullivan (Def/Mid; app 20; goals 1) – An enthusiastic and positive player who works hard in whatever position she is asked to play. She played goalkeeper for 3 games for us and only let in 1 goal! She scored a goal against the same opposition, earlier in the season. Extremely versatile, but could be more accurate!

Olivia Almond (Mid/Def; app 21; goals 23) – Strong, fast and hardworking player. Always wants to be in the thick of the action. Fills centre mid-field and is top goal scorer this season, even though she has been playing an increasingly defensive role for the team recently.

Katie Lee (Mid/Def; app 19; goals 5) – Our international player on loan from the USA for one season. Katie played well in central midfield and even played as centre back before finding her niche on the right hand side. Crosses the ball well and scored some very useful goals. We shall miss her next September.

Morgan Jeggo (Mid/Striker; app 12; goals 3) – Joined the team in November. Willing to work hard and win the ball in midfield. Likes to carry the ball forward into attack. Scored a hat-trick in the last match of the season. Keep it up!

Ellen Jukes (Mid/Striker; app 22; goals 6) – An incredibly hard-working player, who will attack down the left at any opportunity. Willing to take on defenders and looks to pass the ball accurately. Scored some very important goals too.

Katherine Hatton (Mid/Striker; app 21; goals 8) – Skilful, attacking midfielder who can carry the ball past defenders. Can strike the ball well and scored some important goals. Needs more confidence in challenging for the ball and she will score even more.

Emily Stacy (Mid/Striker; app 4; goals 0) – Started playing for us late in the season. Very skilful on the ball and makes accurate penetrating passes. An asset for next season.

Lili Brown (Striker; app 22; goals 17) – Fast and willing to harry defenders as well as take the ball past them. Responds positively to encouragement and as a result scored lots of goals. If she could believe that she can pass and shoot with her left foot, then Lili would score even more. Under 13’s East

Stefan Weidmann - Manager. Corrupt and knows nothing.

Olly Colvin - Goalkeeper - Player of the Season. Shouts a lot.

Archie Cole - defence. Archie hates getting up. When he is awake, he is brilliant.

Max Mumford - defence. Dirtiest player in the team. The first name I write down.

Ed Hollis - defence. Mr Consistent. Never lets you down.

Toby Weidmann - defence. Bleeds for the cause. Think Stuart Pearce in a bad mood. Toby also takes dreadful penalties.

David Andrews - midfield - fastest player. A mini Walcott.

Craig Reece - midfield. A terrier. Joined halfway through and gave us a big shot in the arm.

Joel Murray - the Beast from the East. No-one messes with Joel. Our talisman.

Ashley Smith - midfield. Ashley is superb. Provided he doesn't have to get muddy. Or run.

Billy Rintoul - midfield. Would have been Player of the Year but Olly's Dad gave me some money.

Joshua Hewitt - midfield. Lovely attitude. Always smiling.

Issy Doyle - midfield. Most versatile player in the team. Has played almost everywhere.

Louis Hollands - midfield. Got better and better. Scored the Goal of the Season.

Nathan Wooster - midfield. Has the heart of a lion. Plays like an angry chihuahua.

Danny Clews - midfield. One of our two "Lefties". Gives us balance.

Ben Parry - striker. Good finisher. Hates being substituted more than anyone I've ever seen.

Manager: John Oliver

We played this season in Division 1 of the West Herts Youth League where we finished in 4th place in an extremely competitive league. The boys can be extremely proud of their performances.

Alex Beard - App 19 Gls 1 – Alex has a great engine and a tenacious attitude which he uses well in our midfield.

Amir Stapleton - App 15 Gls 2 – Amir has found it hard this year but never stops trying. I’m sure he’ll come back strong next season.

Archie Oliver - App 20 Gls 1 – Archie is a cultured defender with good feet, he never panics and always looks to play out from the back.

Ben Merritt - App 20 – Ben was brave enough to take on the tricky left back position and has made it his own.

Charlie Bennett - App 19 Gls 20 – A fantastic season for Charlie who has struck fear into every defence he’s faced.

Charlie Lunniss - App 20 Gls 3 – Charlie is mister 100%, never stops running, tackling and playing good football. The heartbeat of the team.

Jacob Bockenhauer - App 18 Gls 4 – Jacob is a midfielder with good technical ability and a fantastic shot. A midfield powerhouse.

Jacob Grisenthwaite - App 20 Gls 5 –A rock in defence who can always be relied upon. This season he has added the knack of scoring vital goals.

Jake Mlodecki - App 18 – Jake has vision and awareness and a good range of passing with the ability to play the killer pass, a valuable asset to have.

Kevin Kissoon - App 18 Gls 2 – Kevin has really improved this season to become a reliable defensive asset. Good feet and a cool head are his main attributes.

Luke Houghton - App 19 Gls 4 – Luke has steadily improved over the course of the season to become a valuable attacking asset with a good left foot.

Morgan Trotman – App 7 – Morgan joined us mid-season after transferring from South. A strong running, accomplished defender.

Stephen Heather - App 17 Gls 7 – Stephen has had another good season up front causing the opposition defences all sorts of problems.

William Mattin - App 17 Gls 1 – William has had another solid season in midfield. Good technical ability allied to a good understanding of the game.

Will Moroney - App 20 – Another really good season in goal from Will who continues to amaze with his shot-stopping prowess.

   Under 13’s Orient

Completed their most successful season since the double-winning season of four years ago, finishing 4th in Division 2 of the West Herts Youth League with 25 points and a fantastic goal tally of 62. Complimented for the quality of their football from opposition sides, the level of performances has increased significantly throughout the season. All of the boys have played their part and should be rightly proud of their 2011/12 season.

Isaac Raynard (GK) (20 Apps, 0 Goals) -Still the best in the league and more commanding of his area than ever this season; more clean sheets than in any other season. Has served the team well and will be sorely missed next season.

Sam Harte (21 apps, 11 goals) - A newcomer this season and has developed into a force to be reckoned with up front, Papisse Cisse-like in the box – sight of net-one touch-goal!

Oscar Hughes (21 apps, 4 goals) - Spends more time up front these days (and it takes him longer to get back!) but is still able to operate as a covering defender too, a great asset to the team.

Harry Hussain (21 apps, 3 goals) - Has had defenders dizzy this season with newly introduced twists and turns in his game, has the versatility to revert to full back when required.

Shaun Knighton (19 apps, 0 goals) - Solid as a rock at the centre of a back 3. Captained the team for the first time this season, leads by example and has a record 4 MOM awards.

Owen Ladbrooke (22 apps, 24 goals) - Another newcomer, all present, and to cap it all leading scorer, what you might call a fantastic initial season. Has tormented defenders all year and is a real talent.

Alex Lees (21 apps, 0 goals) - Has established himself as a regular full back this season, dependable and willing to play in midfield too when needed; his best season yet.

Elliot Mason (22 apps, 2 goals) - A fine season from our second ever present. Plays mainly in the pocket, producing defence-splitting passes with either foot. Very skilful ball player.

Zac Moore (21 apps, 8 goals) - Has played throughout the spine of the team but mainly in midfield. A driving force who probably scored the goal of the season with a volley from outside the box.

Nat Nicholls (18 apps, 0 goals) - A really cultured defender or defensive midfielder who likes to carry the ball out of defence, has a great tactical awareness and reads the game brilliantly.

Tom Nicolson (22 apps, 1 goal) - Ultra competitive, stunningly powerful in the tackle and the driving force of the team. Has had a tremendous season and also earned rave reviews for his goalkeeping performance in the final successful match. Ever present.

Matthew Pollard (21 apps, 3 goals) - Possesses an exquisite left foot and is an intelligent passer of the ball with a good footballing brain. Operates best on the left and takes a mean corner; chips in with his share of goals.

Luke Rhodes (1 app, 0 goals) - Unlucky to get injured after only one game, a great covering player with speed to burn, a fantastic man-marker to boot.

Matthew Sibley (8 apps, 0 goals) - Right or left full back who had a solid first half of the season before going off to pursue a different career.

Ollie Truran (14 apps, 0 goals) - Utility player, but generally operates wide in midfield or at the back. Had a storming final game after taking a blow to the head – a possible pre-match tactic for next season!

Shiloh Wallace (22 apps, 2 goals) - Undoubtedly the most improved player of the season and another ever-present. Capable of driving and match-changing runs from central midfield, putting the fear of god into the opposition.

Toby Zell (19 apps, 4 goals) - Again has chipped in with his share of goals from an advanced midfield position, although has fitted in at the back when required.

Division One of the West Herts League proved tough this season with six players injured (at school) in the opening two weeks. Things improved but continual injuries and breakages had an impact. Despite this morale stayed high and we had some excellent performances against top sides, reaching the semi final of the Challenge Cup. New squad players show great promise for next season. Many thanks go to Parent helpers for refereeing and running the line, notably John Winks, Dave Goldstone, and Kevin Ladyman.

NATHAN LONGMORE – Fearless keeper who has developed very well and often gets praise from opposing team parents. Also shows promise outfield, and is a great character. How many broken bones?

TOM TURNER – Very strong in defence or midfield, “Tominator” has become an accomplished first choice player having developed superbly this season. There’s much more to come.

RYAN LADYMAN – Intelligent and skillful ball-playing centre half, very good at bringing the ball out of defence and turning into attack.

MATT DOHERTY – Fast and determined. Not much gets past Mattie. Very popular figure in the team, and leads by example.

KYLE HARRIS – Despite knee problems, has made a great contribution this season up front, wing and excellent in defence with the odd appearance covering in goal. Intelligent quick play a trademark.

HARRY NEWMAN-BOOTH – Strong contender for Player of Year. Controls midfield in the air and on ground. Has developed brilliantly with much more to come. Superb leadership. Fantastic season.

LUKE WINKS – Skilful creative midfielder and always in the top scorers. Excellent pace, tricky and dangerous.

OLIVER ASTLEY – Determined player with great wing back skill, offers attacking force and super link up play on the left.

FINLAY AULD – New to the squad this year and has made a great impact with scoring and crossing from the left. Great feet and skill. Another strong contender for Player of the Year.

JAMES NASAH – Persistent ankle ligament problem limited James’ appearances substantially this season, and he was sorely missed. Played valiantly when fit – great anchor in midfield or defence.

TOM GOLDSTONE – Wonderful season and great midfield role model. Contender for Player of Year again. Recently switched to striking role to add creativity and drive, and get amongst the goals on a regular basis.

BILLY LAWRENCE – Some really good team play and link up work this season, plus goals, heading ability and strength in defence or in goal.

CHRIS SALMONS – New to the squad, Chis has been a stalwart striker, ever present up front but also very capable as a wing back. Amazing speed and one of the top scorers this season, well done.

Under 13’s West The team finished 4th in Division 2 of the WFL and were finalists in the Spring Cup, only just losing out to a ‘bigger’ Division 1 team. The team took their cup final form into their first summer tournament at Marlow, winning the final 1-0. This is a tremendous achievement having lost 4 players at the start of the season to academy and 1st division teams. The new influx of players & parents from the disbanded Wheathamstead team have been a pleasure to welcome. The team are crazily inconsistent; losing 4 games to lower placed teams and then being unrecognizable when beating 1st division teams in the Cup; the winners of their league & in the semi and final at Marlow. My thanks to the parents for continued taxi service; Ian Lewis for his help with the team; Adrian Pattison for organising the referees, Richard Hawkes & Paul Beels for lineo duties and special mention to Tania for the additional fitness training. And thank you to Jake Deacon whose help with the team and bridging the ‘mind gap’ between teenagers and adults will be missed when he leaves for Uni. Alex Desmond (Goalie): Joined this season from the disbanded Wheathamstead team and has been picked as the schools county goal keeper. Likes to play out and scored a super goal against Whetstone in the Cup. The save in the semi and the final at Marlow were outstanding. Special mention for his supportive friendship with the teams other goalie, Jamie..well played. Appearances: 2011/12: 16 (running total 16). Competitive goals this season: 1 Alex Tyers (Midfield): Picked up a injury early season which eventually lead to forced retirement from the season. Get well soon Alex, we need you back. Appearances: 2011/12: 14 (running total 69). Competitive goals this season: 0 Alfie Seeby (Defender): Can be a match winner on his day and after moving around team positions has settled in a defensive mid field role. Lesson to all players on his suspension following the teams only ever card!. Seasons best moment was his motm performance when the team came back to beat 1st Division Omonia. Appearances: 2011/12: 19 (running total 144). Competitive goals this season: 3 Ben Pattison (Defender): Best ever goal tally and all in the right end! Links very well with the right wing, always giving them a option. Super & mature performance in the Final when he man marked their giant, repeating the feat in the Marlow final. Appearances: 2011/12: 22 (running total 148). Competitive goals this season: 3 Ben Yates (Defender): If only the rest of the team always gave the same effort as Ben, most notably in the home match against Panathinaikos. Moving into a defensive midfield role, displaying some neat foot work. Appearances: 2011/12: 22 (running total 93). Competitive goals this season: 0 Cameron Pearce (Defender): Joined this season from the disbanded Wheathamstead team and shared the full back role. Deceivingly quick and the most polite player on the pitch. The team wish you every success with Luton Athletics. Appearances: 2011/12: 15 (running total 15). Competitive goals this season: 2 Charlie Moffatt (Defender): Joined this season from the disbanded Wheathamstead team and after some debate over which was his favoured foot, settled at left back. Grew stronger in the role as the season progressed, making the position his. Appearances: 2011/12: 16 (running total 16). Competitive goals this season: 3 Frankie Levin (Striker): Joined in the new year from Aldenham. Super foot work and has promised the manager not to get dis-heartened when playing against the bigger chaps...your time will come Frankie. Scored his first of many at Marlow. Appearances: 2011/12: 7 (running total 7). Competitive goals this season: 0 Harry Deacon (Midfield): Has no pace but his passing is super, his reverse pass in the Final was a different level. Effort is always rewarded & for Harold his reward was getting the winner in the semi final of the Spring Cup and the Marlow final. Looking forward to him tackling in a match the way he tackles his brother in the back garden! Appearances: 2011/12: 22 (running total 147). Competitive goals this season: 3 Harry Hawkes (Striker): Great all round striker, but like Frankie has struggled at times against the bigger teams.....keep playing football and it will soon level out. His goal in the Spring Cup Final was something else and best goal by any team i had seen all season. Appearances: 2011/12: 20 (running total 148). Competitive goals this season: 8 Harry Lewis (Midfield); Harry has still not missed a match and having experimented elsewhere on the pitch has reverted back to centre back where he excels. Has saved the team numerous goals by just reading where the danger is. Appearances: 2011/12: 23 (running total 155). Competitive goals this season: 0 Jake Beels (Defender): Has moved from right wing to left back and is now the teams established centre back where he has continued to be outstanding, epitomised by his performance away to Omonia. His pace gets the team out of trouble and he uses it to bring the ball out, causing opponents all sorts of trouble Appearances: 2011/12: 22 (running total 128). Competitive goals this season: 0 Jake Anthony (Striker): His first season with the team and what an impact. I have been very impressed with his ability to hold a ball up, link up play and then get on the end of it to be the team’s top goal scorer. Really good attitude and effort. Will remember his 4 against Omonia in the Cup. Appearances: 2011/12: 22 (running total 103). Competitive goals this season: 18 Jamie Fanning (Goalie): The teams goalie, saving a penalty away at Sun Postal. Huge praise for sharing the spot with Dessie...well played both these chaps for no silliness and just full on mutual support. Jamie is now experimenting with the occasional outfield foray and scored a stunner in the Finchley friendly. Appearances: 2011/12: 20 (running total 125). Competitive goals this season: 0 Joe Galliford (Midfield): Joined this season from the disbanded Wheathamstead team and has unbelievable stamina in the middle. Breaks the play up and gets forward, his break from the middle to score at Marlow was stunning. Pretty good cricketer too! Appearances: 2011/12: 19 (running total 19).Competitive goals this season: 1 Josh Emmins (Striker): Great first touch and a natural athlete. His final match for the team was in the Spring Cup Final when he almost got on the end of 2 Jake Anthony crosses. The team wish you every success with Norwich. Appearances: 2011/12: 8 (running total 68). Competitive goals this season: 3 Sebastian Camp (Striker): Joined this season from the disbanded Wheathamstead team and is the fastest boy in the team but he is not all about pace, scoring a number of his goals from taking up good positions in the box. Paul Ferdinand – Manager/Coach , Richard Cook – Organiser Third straight promotion meant Division 1 football this year. A great challenge for the boys particularly without a goalkeeper and a number of new players coming into the squad. Paul Ferdinand helped the boys grow as a team playing some great football against some tough opposition. Well done boys. Special thanks go to Paul Ferdinand, Ian Ypey, and Ben Ypey . Also thanks to all the parents for their help and support. Cheers Richard

Central Midfield Jack Ypey – When on his game Jack is a very talented footballer. The cleanest striker of a football in the league and scored some great goals (2nd top scorer with 11 goals).

Central Midfield Will Spencer - A key player in the teams spine. Will has had another great season and leads by example as a great ball winner, driving the team forward. Can also play and has a great attitude.

Centre Back Alex Cook - Fantastic consistently in the heart of the defence. A great reader of the game as he sweeps up at the back. Equally good with both feet and has amazing stamina.

Striker Arthur Smith - Arthur has shown a great attitude throughout the season playing wherever the team has needed him – always gives 100%. Has a nice touch, holds the ball-up and nicely links up play.

Striker Sian Khan-Boylan - Top goal scorer for the 5th consecutive season with 18 goals. A big factor in the team’s success. Has pace, strength, skill and a great determination that inspires others.

Central Midfield Thomas Lander – Can play anywhere as his great run in goal demonstrated. Lovely on the ball, great dribbler and tenacious tackler on is day. Has the ability to go far in this game.

Winger/Striker Daniel Metcalf – Missed much of the season due to injury and was a big loss. All round footballer who can play anywhere. Always looking to play the killer pass and has a delightful touch.

Winger/Striker Andrew Hewitt - Andy is another all round footballer including a couple of great performances in goal. Always gives 100%, combining great stamina with two footed talent.

Midfielder/Full back George Dearlove – George has been a joy to manage over the last two seasons. Has a great football brain, and an ability to strike a lovely ball with either foot.

Centre Back Matthew Hubbard - What an excellent first season for Matthew slotting straight into the middle of defence. Strong in the tackle but also very comfortable on the ball and has a great attitude.

Full back/midfield Jordan Wonnacott - Moved from the East and made the right side of the team his own. Has pace and stamina and is determined in the tackle.Excellent commitment throughout the season.

Striker/midfield Ben Smith - Fantastic attitude on match day or in training – led the line against some big/touch defenders getting into great positions to score even with his head! Also good on the ball.

Full back Matthew Welford – Matthew struggled with injury but when 100% demonstrated what a good player he could be. Great reader of the game, nice touches on the ball and real team player.

Midfielder/Full back Numan Hakim – Numan was the find of the season. Asked to slot into defence and made the position his own. Great pace and strength and lovely skill on the ball. A top footballer. JRV`;Q` .

A talented group of young people and footballers who have been producing steadily improving performances every week, there is no doubt that we can beat anyone on our day and always attempt to play a passing game no matter the opposition. The quality at times has been superb and the boys should be very proud of themselves. They narrowly lost the Challenge Cup Final and finished 3rd in the top division. Thank you to Gary for always running the line and fixing the nets, Adelaide for being match delegate/results secretary and all the parents for your enthusiastic support.

Akim Akinbinu – Striker/Midfielder - Never stops working and has a great ability to beat any defender. Supports his team mates constantly and continues to improve as a player every time he plays.

James Cameron – Defender – Tenacious and can play in a number of positions. Can spot a pass to set up an attack and has made some great goal line clearances.

Callum Clifford – Midfielder/Striker – The link man from midfield to defence with an amazing shot and quick feet. Always willing to give advice to the referee. Scores vital goals and sets up many more.

Matthew Harvey – Midfielder – Protects the defence and then springs into supporting the attack. Timing of the tackle is superb and never gives up.

Luke Lanham – Defender – Can match the fastest striker and has made many last ditch challenges this year. Improving in many areas and stepping out of defence more often to great effect.

Alex Levy – Midfielder – Tireless midfield general and leader. Understands the game very well and can see what is needed to change the dynamics of a game.

Joe Lowthian – Striker - Unfortunately has suffered from injuries this year but has scored some great goals with a fierce shot. Quick feet and able to create his own chances with his skill levels.

Dan McGoohan – Defender – Solid as a rock in the heart of the defence, goes for every header and intercepts many passes before they get through. A real lionheart and consistent performer.

Tom McLeod – Goalkeeper – Developing into a fantastic goalkeeper, his improvement has been meteoric and is making brilliant saves all the time. Getting more confident in the area and who knows what he could be at this rate.

Stuart Peet – Winger – Torments defenders with his quick feet and changes in direction. Stays wide to provide options and provides tantalising crosses from both wings. Scores the odd brilliant goal as well.

Jake Sahota – Defender – Times his tackles to perfection and links with the midfield very well. Spots a pass before many others and overlaps to great effect.

Gerardo Smalldone – Midfielder – A skilful bulldozer who slices through the opposition then recovers to challenge them if they get the ball from him.

Yaku Stapleton – Striker - Speedy striker who never stops trying. Always willing to support the team and get in areas where we can create opportunities.

Charlie Ward – Midfielder – Goal scorer who has great presence and can will the team to win. Wins most headers in the centre of the park and takes to a leadership role very well.

  Under 15’s East

Having won promotion to the White Division we started the season poorly losing our first three league games .It took us a while to get into our stride but we did start to get a few results and more importantly got over the early slump in form and confidence. It’s been a tough slog but 2012 has seen a revival in spirit and some fun back into training and match days. Looking forward to next season where we have the talent for a top four finish.

Alex Hall (P 26 G0) Alex has played a much more prominent role in central Midfield this season and has started to spread play and deliver some lovely incisive passes. His ball control and technical ability has been superb and a joy to watch.

Alex Port (P26 G1) Alex has had a great season making the left back position his own. His speed allows him to see off the right wingers he faces with ease. Scored a Nando style goal running from the half line and rounding the keeper – superb.

Anthony Gosling (P26 G28) Even though we’ve moved up Anthony’s goals ratio is still fantastic. His combination of speed, power and great technical ability always means he can change a game with a goal or a surging run to create havoc in the opponents defence. Drives the team on every second of each game.

Bachir Loussahi (P24 G9) Bachir’s shown greater depth to his game this season. In addition to his poaching skills we’ve seen some great driving runs, some superb crosses and much more teamwork from this very capable striker.

Bradley Kelly-Keener (P26 G8) Bradley has rejoined the colours of City and has had an excellent season with the team. He can pull a ball out of the air and whip in a cross with a rare combination of grace and power. Scored a thunderous 30 yarder from a free kick and has great technique when striking the ball.

Callum Addison (P22 G1) Callum has had a tough slog this year with injury but despite that has remained a great squad member and contributed in 22 games and grabbed a goal. Once he’s fully fit his vision and passing will enable him to play a much greater role in the team.

Charlie Hughes (P24 G7) Charlie has enormous energy and speed on the pitch and really gets at the opposition with his presence. Has added to his striker’s repertoire this season with a much better appreciation of the team game – but he’s also shown he can still score some cracking goals.

Chris Ladyman (P25 G3) If you had to go “over the top” in the First World War this is the man you’d want by your side, never ever gives up. Continues to lead the team at centre half and pops up with a few goals usually by jumping in head first with no thought for his own safety! Great team player.

Jake Lachau (P23 G1) A real centre half of the old school, big strong brave yet with a turn of speed and a cracking shot that you sense there’s a frustrated striker lurking. Always an automatic selection on the team sheet and there’s a noticeable groan from the team when he’s missed the odd game.

James Aviles (P26 G0) James’s has had a great first season after joining from the ‘ol enemy Rangers. His vision, slick passing and intelligence in reading the game suits our play and he’s establishing himself as an invaluable midfield player for the team.

Josh Harpin (P26 G0) Josh has added some great attacking skills to his often peerless defensive displays. Drives down the right cutting up defences and delivering pin sharp crosses. Very rarely matched for power and pace even now we’ve moved to a higher level in the game.

Josh Rodway (P9 G2) Late January signing and a better bargain than Cisse. Josh is a very welcome addition to the squad combining strength, vision and accuracy to deliver some great Midfield performances in the short time he’s been here. Looking forward to next season as he develops within the squad.

Kieran Thorne (P26 G7) Running out of superlatives to describe some of Kieran’s performances but here goes: exciting, thrusting, tireless and a real joy to watch. Great natural talent and a player any team would want in their squad as he can always do something that little bit special.

Matt Harris (P25 G0) Matt’s had a much busier season now we’ve moved up and he’s had to adapt to the change to full size goals. Still a fantastic stop shopper and has started to build his all round Keeper’s game with box domination, kicking and a powerful throw out.

Matt Pearce (P22 G0) Matt has really developed this year with lots more game time; he’s doubled in size and is now a really terrific squad player in our holding midfield slot or at centre half.

(P23, W 6, L 15, D2, For 44, Against 71) A difficult season sees us sitting in 8th place in the WFL Blue Division at the time of writing. With a bit more luck we would have secured a few more points from games that we did not deserve to lose. As always, the boys have been a credit to the club. Thanks to everyone for all the support throughout the season. Special thanks to Mike Slater who has coached the boys extremely well this season.

Sam Angel (18 appearances) – Sam passes the ball well and has a good range of passes. The pace & intensity of football in this division was a test for Sam but he made a good effort and grew in confidence.

Saul Beels (20 apps, 1 goal) – Another good, solid season from Saul. Scored our goal of the season with his rising volley from outside the area against Evergreen.

Alex Coakley (20 apps) – A very good season from ‘Coaks’. Tough tackler with good positional sense and growing in confidence. Great lad.

Jack Collard (18 apps, 3 goals) – A really good individual goal, beating 4 players before scoring against AC Finchley was a highlight for Jack. Keep working hard.

Ben Collins (14 apps) Always works hard for the team but injury has again disrupted his season.

Matt Cross (21 apps, 9 goals) – 2nd top scorer, playing midfield & upfront. Great goal against London Lions, crashing a 25 yarder in off the underside of the bar & a fine hat trick against Alexandra Park.

Shay Emerton (20 apps, 1 goal) – Real determined performances from Shay this season, in midfield or defence. Great deliveries from set pieces.

Clark Hodsdon (16 apps, 1 goal) – Mainly played up front. Great work rate & gives defenders no time on the ball. Great finish for his goal against Evergreen. He’s earned his new set of golf clubs Glenn!

Ollie Innes (10 apps, 4 goals) – Good addition to the team for the 2nd half of the season. Played well up front or in defence. Good to have you with us Ollie.

Kieran Irons (9 apps, 3 goals) – Unfortunately, Kieran’s 1st season with us has been blighted by injury. Good target man with a real physical presence.

Chris Litchfield (20 apps, 2 goals) – Always gives everything for the team & scored a couple of good goals from midfield. Well done Chris.

Gus Scott (22 apps, 10 goals) – Mainly played in midfield this season & is top scorer – really good finisher when the opportunity presents itself. Well done Gus.

Ollie Sykes (11 apps) – Missed a lot of games but his end of season impressive defensive performances should give Ollie real confidence.

James Thompson (14 apps, 3 goals) - Good with the ball at his feet & a good passer. Keep working hard on your positional play James. Well done.

Robbie Tominey-Nevado (13 apps) – Superb all season in central midfield. Great ability & gives everything. Same again next season please Robbie.

Alasdair Walker (20 apps) – A tough season in goal for Alasdair, behind a defence that had to deal with some strong opposition. Well done Ally.

Jack Wells (21 apps) – A very solid season at right back for Jack. Strong in the tackle & good distribution. Well done Jacko.

Alex White (8 apps, 1 goal) – Unfortunately, Alex is another who has missed a lot of the season thro injury. His MoM performance & goal against Olympiacos in December was his last involvement. Good luck with your recovery Alex.

Conor Yapp (23 apps, 6 goals) – Captain. Another really impressive season, whether in defence or upfront, when he scored consistently the few times he was asked to play there. Well done again Cons.

GOALKEEPER- HANNAH PEPPETT-10 GAMES, We didn’t have a keeper at the start of the season, but despite not playing for 5 or so years she came to our rescue. She has been invaluable and I would like to say a big thank you.

DEFENCE- HOLLY CLARKE-18 GAMES-11 GOALS, GRACE CAMPION-16 GAMES, STEPHANIE PLUNKETT-15 GAMES-1 GOAL, FAITH TROUNCE-15 GAMES, CORAL CLAYTON-12 GAMES.

Holly hasn’t missed a single game for several seasons now, this has aided in her constant improvement in both skill and confidence, so to reward her I gave her a run up front for the last 3 games where she scored 7. Grace is Miss Consistent, the backbone of the team and captain. Never moans and loves playing for this team, a great leader. Steph is fast, determined and gives everything with a smile no matter what the game or situation (one of the best attributes you can have as a player and in life). I know I shouldn’t have favourites but she is one of mine. Faith is my soldier, and will run through walls for the team, a tough tackler who beats players twice her size. She never lets anyone down, even playing when injured. Coral is a fast right back, a winger’s nightmare with her great timing on tackles and good distribution.

The best thing I can say about any player in any position is to have a “you won’t beat me” attitude and all these defenders have it in bucket loads.

WINGERS- PHOENIX HICKMAN-16 GAMES-2 GOALS, REBECCA HARRINGTON-15 GAMES-2 GOALS, ANNA NAYLER-12 GAMES, JOANNA JI-9 GAMES-2 GOALS.

Phoenix has come back well from a bad injury last year and got one of the best goals of the season in the last game. Very skilful and can play on both wings, also the best out of the wingers at getting back and helping the defence. Rebecca is a quick player, who loves to attack and causes plenty of problems for defences. Anna has shown more and more confidence as the season progressed and can produce a super curling attacking pass. Joanna is another skilful winger who was sorely missed near the end of the season.

MIDFIELD ENGINE ROOM- SAMMY MAY-18GAMES-6 GOALS, ABIGAIL KEMBALL-COOKE-17 GAMES-5 GOALS, JANAE GUISHARD PINE-12 GAMES-14 GOALS, NATASHA OGBE-8 GAMES- 2 GOALS, Sammy has been our main driving force this year, plus still the best dead ball specialist I know (including boys and adults). A great captain when grace is missing. Abi is simply one of the best all round ability players you will see, she gets targeted and fouled by all opposition who know her, with very little protection from refs but still comes back for more. Janae came in just after the start of the season but still finished leading scorer. Very difficult to knock off the ball with powerful forward runs and has also brought in her friend Natasha who is also very forward thinking. She is strong and has been a real bonus.

STRIKERS- HOLLY SHERIDEN-12 GAMES-11 GOALS, AMY FARMER-11 GAMES-11 GOALS. Holly has done well this year despite sometimes having to play up front by herself. She is a natural born striker. Amy has got some great goals this year and left a massive hole when she had to stop playing because of work. Players who score a goal a game are like gold dust.

THANK-YOU After losing 5 players last season, I would like to thank the new players for coming in and fitting in so well, also the players who keep turning up week after week despite me being in charge. I am indebted to the girls for letting me be part of the team and have taken great pleasure in watching them develop into a team I am extremely proud of, playing the game in the true nature of the sport, and improving year on year. Holly C. and Sammy have actually played 200 or more games for St Albans Youth, which shows great commitment, considering we play less than 20 games a season. A huge thank you to Jeremy Hickman and Dave Campion for their continual support and also for running the line for me. Last but by no means least I would like to thank Ian Woods for all the help and patience he has given me during my time with St Albans Youth. It’s been an honour and a pleasure to know so many dedicated people. Thank-you Paul JRV` ;:

  Under 18’s South

We have been the South for a couple of seasons and plain City Youth for one but for the other seven we were the West. On the same day Chelsea were crowned champions of Europe the West played and won their final game. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from my favourite teams! Many players have come and gone over the last decade and everyone of them deserves a mention:

Lewis Baxendine 24 apps - No goals but some great tackles and assists plus the odd yellow card.

Laurence Blow 18 apps 1 goal - at left back hit with mid season injury but back on the last game Jake Deacon 27 apps 4 goals - Highest capped City Youth player ever!

Connor Emerton 22 apps - Big Con playing at the back or in midfield… or studying or playing cricket

George Guest 27 apps 3 goals - Guest is the Best when he plays for the West !

Adam Luck 20 apps 9 goals - at the beginning of the season then forgot where the goal was.

Josh Meija Searle 19 apps - Very hung-over a couple of times but still able to play !

Dominic Oliver 19 apps 4 goals - Dorres as he is affectionately known and as always saved the best till last!

James Pellington 20 apps 2 goals - Pell the Captain 10 years in control .. well most of the time (Jaaammmeess).

David Towndrow 26 apps 2 goals - Shearer scored the West’s final goal… a better header than Drogba’s !

George Sanderson 12 apps 1 goal - Where is George? Working or injured no one is too sure.

Sam Rogan 12 apps - Retired mid season… but popped back for one last game.

Adam Jacobs 12 apps 1 goal - Work and injury hampered Adams season but some very useful appearances.

Jamie Denyer 26 apps 4 goals - Jamie what can we say except there is nothing Jammy about his performances.

Marino Hadjisavva 22 apps 13 goals - Leading goal scorer… I will miss the Sunday chats!

Andy Taylor 13 apps 2 goals - Sadly injured in Harvesters derby but made a much needed return at the end.

George Wright 8 apps 7 goals - Last ever signing and what a great scoring record.

From the past: Tom Pugh, George Martin, Joe Crawshaw, Hayley Ladd, Joe Madley, Jack Madley, Chris Hudson, Toby Sakata, Felix Ashwood, Jacob Wroe, Laurence Wroe, Oliver Marjoram, Alistair Sandiford , Jack Evans, Tom Reading, Matt Rodford, Ben Lee, Ben Attewell, Michael Lee, Will Jacobs, Carl Palin, Tom Coulton, Jack Cowlard, Ahmad Zaman and of course Harvey Scott. Thanks to Jez for all his training and everyone who has put up nets and run the line. Tezzy Edvards for all of his reports and everyone at the club for their support……………….. The End.

Five City Youth Disability Coaches picked for Paralympics’ Torch Relay

St Albans City Youth has managed to get five of their young disability coaches recognised by the Paralympic Committee for their contribution to Community Sport. They will each have the opportunity to carry the Torch on the Paralympics Torch Relay.

The Coaches have been rewarded for their services to sport which sees them work in many Special Needs Centres and Schools as role models across the District.

Dan Rogers said ”Who would have believed that when I joined St Albans City Youth in 2005 with 5 members it would have grown to this”.

The coaches are clearly excited and want to thank everyone for their support. The Torch-bearing team, will carry the Paralympic Flame in the 24-hour Relay from Stoke Mandeville to London on 28 - 29 August 2012 and are already looking forward to it.
