COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS PLACE FORWARD SONNY MILANO ON INJURED RESERVE, RECALL TYLER MOTTE FROM AHL’S

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The have placed forward Sonny Milano on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 8 and recalled forward Tyler Motte from the club’s affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, club general Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Milano, 21, who has missed the past two contests, will be sidelined four-to-six weeks with a torn oblique muscle suffered on January 8 at Toronto. He has recorded eight goals and five assists for 13 points with six minutes in 35 games with the Blue Jackets and added 0-3-3 and four penalty minutes in six contests with the Monsters this season. The Massapequa, New York native has posted 8-6-14 and six penalty minutes in 42 career NHL games has 32-54-86 with 50 penalty minutes in 133 career AHL games with the Monsters and . He was the club’s first round pick, 16th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Motte, 22, has recorded 3-1-4 and two penalty minutes in 29 games with the Blue Jackets this season and has 6-2-8, four penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in nine games with Cleveland. The St. Clair, Michigan native has notched 7- 4-11 and 16 penalty minutes in 62 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks and added 18-11-29 and 26 penalty minutes in 57 career AHL games with Cleveland and Rockford. Acquired by Columbus with and a sixth round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft from Chicago in exchange for , and a fifth round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, he was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the fourth round, 121st overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft.
