Wrestling has unique position among Olympic disciplines in India, from being provider of first individual medal to newly independent nation to lately becoming most significant contributor in medal tally. This coming of age of Indian wrestling team with double medal tally in the last Olympics has been outcome of long and steady journey of Indian wrestling team over a period of 40-50 years and numerous Summer Olympic Games. However, this journey of Indian wrestling team in the Olympics is also a story of significant twist and turn, near misses and also of glory. So this article covers the entire saga of Indian wrestlers at highest sporting event of world—Olympic Games, from inception of first Indian team of mere three grapplers to latest Olympics with debut of first Indian female grappler in Olympic arena. This history is written by sweat and hard work of Indian grapplers with its own highs and lows. Ugandan President Signed Anti Gay Law Uganda’s President Yoweri-Museveni has signed a controversial anti-gay bill on 24 February that allows harsh penalties for homosexual offences, calling them mercenaries and prostitutes.Yoweri Museveni signed the bill, which holds that homosexuals be jailed for long terms, outlaws the promotion of homosexuality and requires people to denounce gays. Arseniy Yatsenyuk Elected As Ukrain Interim PM The Ukrainian parliament has on 27 February elected former opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk as the country’s Interim Prime Minister.He was backed by 371 of 417 participating deputies in the Parliament. INDIA & WORLD India and Germany Signed Two Agreements On Financial and Technical Co-operation India and Germany have signed two umbrella agreements for financial and technical co- operation under Indo German bilateral Development Cooperation framework.The Umbrella Agreements were signed by Finance Minister P Chidambaram and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Mueller during their bilateral meeting on 5 February in New Delhi. -

Dr HARBHAJAN SINGH (19l6-l974) DR Harbhajan Singh was born at Pusa (Bihar) on February 6, 1916. After obtaining the degree of Master of Science in Botany fi'om Agra Uni versity in 1938, he joined the Indian (then Imperial) Agricultural Research Institute for a t-wo-year Diploma course of Associateship in Economic Botany. Thereafter, he was taken up on the research staff of the Division of Botany where h.e pursued his scientific career with imlllcnse zeal and devotion, and rose to the position of the Head of the Division of Plant Introduction in that Institute. Dr Singh was among the first to l'calisc the immense possibilities of crop improvcment in India through systematic plant introduction and exploration. He was a plant explorer of eminence with regard to cultivated plants and their wild relatives, and carried out one-man trips, as well as led teams of agricultural plant explorers to different parts of India and the neighbouring countries such as Nepal. -
