Targeted advocacy to enhance policies, programs, resources and strategies to capitalize on the excellence of members as the key providers of advanced skills and applied research for social and economic development.

Goals

• Develop and implement advocacy strategies with a primary focus on skill gaps, essential and advanced skills, mobility, applied research and institutional capacity • Produce relevant sets of metrics to advance priority issues based on evidence • Engage with business, public sector, Indigenous organizations, regional post- secondary associations and national and international stakeholder groups to promote a pan-Canadian approach for advanced skills • Support opportunities for Canadian students to learn and intern abroad • Be a voice for inclusion and accessible learning, with emphasis on Indigenous communities, people with disabilities, immigrants, older adults and other vulnerable groups in Canada and globally • Position literacy and essential skills as a national priority to enhance graduation rates, employability and immigrant integration which drives Canada’s economy • Explore opportunities with other organizations to collaborate for effective advocacy while respecting their unique contributions and priorities • Articulate the capability, capacity, challenges and successes of members

Goals

• To identify new developments on emerging issues and trends which could impact the mandates of member institutions • Identify, connect, share and showcase members’ innovative capacities, exemplary practices and celebrate excellence • Be a catalyst for collaboration and innovation in programs and services for Indigenous communities • Facilitate the piloting of promising practices and help ensure that they are documented, analyzed, researched and shared • Promote centres of excellence on college and institute innovation • Strengthen member engagement and communities of practice • Promote and support internationalization • Provide unique and varied opportunities for leadership development • Promote leading edge teaching and learning practices • Promote pathways for learners through enhanced transferability and recognition of learning nationally and internationally • Play a leading role in international education, notably within the Canadian Consortium for International Education (CCIE), the UNESCO-UNEVOC system and the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP)

• Position our members as the educators of choice for national and international training programs with private and public sector organizations • Facilitate the engagement of national leaders in business, government and Indigenous organizations • Provide opportunities for members to develop national and international partnerships • Implement a branding and marketing plan to attract more international students and work with partners to facilitate their entry to Canada • Enhance our outreach to diverse partners to increase our influence, impact and visibility • Collaborate with governments, employers and community organizations to facilitate immigrant settlement and integration • Expand and enhance the Education for Employment approach to other countries, current and new partners and international funders
