Rolling Tire Table

Materials 2 3/4” pieces of , 24” 1 used car tire, 15” rim 1 metal drink bucket 4 ½” screws 1 24” square wood door panel 3 1 5/8” caster wheels w/ bits 1 finishing w/ bits Orbital Length of Rope Disc sander w/ brushes Screwdrivers Lacquer Clamps

Base: -Center tire on one piece of plywood. Place bucket inside. Measure height of bucket above tire. -Mark same distance from bottom of bucket and measure circumference at mark. -Calculate radius from 2휋푟 = 푐푖푟푐푢푚푓푒푟푒푛푐푒 and draw circle from plywood center. -Cut hole using jigsaw. Set wood from center aside. -Mark outside of tire wall on same plywood and cut with jigsaw. Disc sand to round. -Fit bucket in plywood hole trimming where necessary. Sand with orbital sander -Drill holes above marks on four sides of bucket. -Set tire on plywood, insert bucket and attach with screws. -Attach casters at 12, 4, and 8 oclock positions on bottom. Set aside.

Top: -Measure 8” radius circle in second piece of plywood, cut with jigsaw. Disc sand to round. -Disc sand center scrap from base cutting to round and attach rope to outer edge with nail. -Lay wood panel on tire base. Mark outer circumference of tire treads on panel. -Cut circle with jigsaw and disc sand to round. -Center eight inch, center scrap, and panel pieces to rest on bucket. -Ensure sandwiched top doesn’t rest on tire! Orbital sand all pieces. -Mark and glue all pieces. to dry overnight. -Wrap rope around center gap, knot tight and cut excess. -Lacquer panel and paint everything else. Let dry.

Base: -Use to cut two sheets of plywood 2’x 4’. Mark one top and one bottom. -Evenly space buckets on top sheet and mark. Use jigsaw to cut out marked circles, trim to fit. -Use router to detail inside edge and glue top and bottom pieces together. Let dry. -Use circular saw to trim excess from all four sides and sand smooth. Lacquer and let dry. -Attach casters to bottom of base.

Top: -Cut one sheet of plywood 2’x4’. Center on top of buckets on base piece and mark. -Using jigsaw cut 1” inside of marked circles, trim to fit. Place tiles on top of holes and mark. -Use router to cut ¼” impression and trim to fit. Notch sides for ease of tile removal. -Use table saw to cut two 2’x2”, two 4’x2”, and two 2’x1” strips of plywood. -Use miter saw to cut 45 degree angles in 2” wide pieces to fit outside circumference. -Cut 1” pieces to fit between holes. Glue and clamp strips to underside of top. Let dry. -Use circular saw to trim excess from all four sides and sand smooth. Lacquer and let dry.

Set aside. Cut 3 ½” notch in center of both long pieces. -Fit together to form H frame. Drill hole in center of each joint and secure with screws. -Cut 10 fence slat tops to 18 ½” and two scrap slats to 18”. -Nail slat tops to top of H frame with base of slat flush to back. -Nail scrap slats to bottom outer edges of h frame. Attach casters to bottom with 8 bolts.

Back: -Use miter to cut remaining 4x4 into 36” piece. Cut 2x4 into two 40 ½” pieces. -Use table saw and chisels to cut two 1 ½” notches in 4x4: At end and 18” from opposite end. -Cut notches in center of both 2x4 pieces. Fit together to form H. -Drill holes in joints and secure with screws. Measure unsecured length of 4x4 to 2x4. -Use miter to cut 2x2 angle supports between ends and secure with screws. -Cut 10 slat tops in staggered lengths from middle to cover 2x2 supports in front: -One 42”, two, 38”, two 34”, two 30”, two 26” -Cut two 18” slat scraps for backside. Secure slats with nails to frame.

Assemble: -Attach bottom of base to bottom of back with hinges and secure with 8 lag bolts. -Cut PVC pipe and remaining 2x2 into four 17” sections, 2 each. -Drill 5/8” hole through center ¾” from each pipe end and in back 4x4 ¾” from top junction. -Bolt pipes through 4x4 and tighten nut. Insert 2x2s into pipes and measure to ground. -Drill hole in 2x2 to desired angle and secure with bolts and nuts. Paint, dry, enjoy! End table ottoman corral

End table: -Use miter to cut 2x4 into two 18” and two 15” lengths. Drill 2 holes in ends of 18” pieces. -Assemble into a square. Cut 2x2 into four 20” lengths. -Angle 2x2s from bottom of square edge to 1” from top. Mark angles for flat placement and cut. -Drill one hole 1” from top of each 2x2 and screw into inside square for flush mount on top. -Cut 18” square plywood to fit top. Turn table upside down and screw top through 2x2s. -Set right side up and measure and cut slats to fit angled short sides and one long. Nail in place. -On the open side cut one piece for top and rip two lengthwise with table saw for sides. Nail. -For square perimeter fit slats ¼” above table surface then glue and nail in place. Set aside.

Ottoman: -Use jigsaw to make circles from both 12” plywood squares. Disc sand to match. -Use jigsaw to cut matching 2” square notches at 12, 4 and 8 o'clock positions in both. -Use miter to cut 2x2 into three 4 inch pieces. Fit into notches on circles and secure with screws. -Glue round panel to top plywood, Let dry. Attach casters at 12, 4 and 8 o'clock of bottom. -Cut 5” slats and overlap on sides of ottoman, nail in place. Lacquer top and paint sides.

3D top: -Place small decorations on top and glue in place. Level table in dust-free low traffic area. -Mix glaze according to directions and fill top. Only apply 1 quart at a time. -Let harden and repeat. Use to remove any excess. Polish top and paint end table.
