Separate components – overall vision . Decouple interdependencies

. Provide design solutions that work in short and long term

. Take advantage of construction timings Preferred Downtown Programme

✓ Brings people into city centre ✓ Quality urban space in core ✓ Achievable pre America’s Cup

✓ In line with CCMP . CRL construction . Ferry basin ✓ . Seismic upgrade Independent of other projects . Private developments . America’s Cup Planning ✓ Avoids redundant work { . LRT

Design choice will affect: . Britomart Precinct Masterplan/Streetscapes Upgrade . Quay Street cycleway – conflict?

Decoupled from CRL and Commercial Bay deadlines All options remove buses from Lower Queen Street Lower Queen Street Lower Queen St

Connects:Considerations . Queen Street . Britomart . Queens WharfLower Queen Street likely to have highest footfall in New Zealand . Quay Street. Major new civic space. Fundamental to success of Downtown . Ferries . Redesigns by CRL have led to a decluttered, resilient space . Buses . LRT. Construction to be coordinated with Commercial Bay programme . Commercial Bay Britomart West Lower Hobson Street Lower Albert Street Quay Street B2Considerations

. Timing depends on decisions and phasing regarding Light Rail . Lower Albert Street is happening as part of CRL/Commercial Bay . All designs to be initially applied to the north of the new kerbline . Bus funding confirmed. Requires design and phasing direction

We have enough information to design the northern promenade irrespective of Quay Street carriageway layout Ferry Basin

Considerations (Monday 14 August workshop)

. The ability to redevelop the ferry basin, including the Downtown Ferry Terminal, will need accommodation by cruise . Piers 3 and 4 will need to be relocated to enable either the seawall works and/or the development of the Downtown Public Spaces – into cruise space . Temporary staging options may need to be considered to enable the development of Downtown Public Spaces and Seawall for America’s Cup.

Further developments will depend on working with Ports of Auckland Assembling the pieces Sequencing Matters Ongoing
