Retail General Manager Wonderland Gear Exchange is an outdoor equipment consignment shop founded in 2018 by adventure buddies Ben & Nate. Located in Seattle’s Crown Hill neighborhood, Wonderland is driven by three guiding principles: keep gear in the wild, and out of the landfill; make adventures cheaper and easier; and broaden the outdoor community.

Wonderland Gear Exchange is hiring for a Retail General Manager to lead daily operations of our outdoor equipment store. A consummate problem solver, the Retail General Manager is expected to be adaptable in the face of a variety of challenges, all while remaining upbeat and an effective communicator.

Wonderland’s ideal Retail General Manager has significant experience in a broad range of outdoor pursuits and equipment. Moreover, he/she/they loves to share this passion and expertise with others. This knowledge lends itself to customer service, as well as leads to improving the merchandising of consigned items in order to create a fun and intuitive shopping experience.

The Retail General Manager should approach the position with an entrepreneurial mindset to help develop customer and consignor experiences. This role is expected to analyze the daily operations of the store in order to work with the co-founders on new ideas for how Wonderland can grow and improve.

Essential Job Functions • Manage the scheduling, training and development of Retail Associates and Inventory Managers • Analyze and report to co-founders on weekly/monthly sales and inventory trends • Collaborate with Inventory Managers to ensure consistent item pricing and quality of store inventory • Lead the Retail Sales Associates on merchandising and store layout strategy • Troubleshoot any technical or interpersonal issues that arise • Initiate and coordinate both external and internal events for community engagement • Cover other store duties such as running the checkout counter, consignor check- in desk, merchandising, cleaning, assisting customers, giving high-fives, etc.

Qualifications • 3+ years of manager-level experience in a retail environment (outdoor industry preferred) • Demonstrated success in personnel and leading successful teams • Consistently positive, energetic, and perceptive of interpersonal/team dynamics • Experience with POS/inventory systems • Highly attuned to providing exceptional customer service to consignors and customers • Experience in a variety of outdoor activities, such as , skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, etc. • Must be comfortable with lifting bins and items weighing up to 25 lbs and potentially standing for long periods of time

Compensation This is a full-time, salaried position. Starting salary range is $45-65,000/year and is commensurate with experience.
