At about 8:30 AM on November 23,23, 1963,1963, LARRY phoned RUBY and asked him what kind of dog food he wanted. RUBY said that before he realized that he had toldtold LARRYLARRY he was not going to bed, he talked realreal uglyugly toto LARRY.LARRY. He decided to stop and look at all the wreaths that had been placed on the side of the street near where President KENNEDY had been shot. He looked at the wreaths, then went over to talk to Police Officer CHANEY, who was on duty there, and talked with CHANEY for a few minutes, but choked up and left because he did not want CHANEY to see him crying. He went on up the street and met WES WISE, of KRLD television station, and talked to WISE for a few minutes. He drove on away and as he was leaving he noticed that Captain FRITZ and Chief of Police CURRY were walking around the scene of the assassination. He backed up and told WISE, "There goes FRITZ and CURRY". He drove on up Main Street and as he passed the City Hall he noticed a number of people around there.•there.. Just befora he reached the next corner, he made an illegal left turn into a parking lot across the street from the Western Union Office and parked his car there. He left his dog in his car. He then walked across the street and sent a money order for 625.00626.00 to LITTLE LYNN at - -Fort-Fort Worth. After sending the telegram, he left the Western Union office and walked west on the same side of the street, toward the City Hall, located on the next corner. Before he reached the Police Department building, he noticed a police officer standing at the entrance to the ramp going into the basement from Main Street, but he did not know the police officer. Just before he reached that point, a police car came out of the basement, and he recognized the driver of the police car as Lieut. PIERCE. He explained he has known Lieut. PIERCE for twelve or fourteen years. PIERCE did not look toward-him or speak to him and RUBY did not speak to Lieut. PIERCE. RUBY. could not recall seeing anyone else in the police car with Lieut. PIERCE in either the front or back seat of the police car. As the police car driven by Lieut. PIERCE came out of the basement ramp, the officer on duty at the entrance stepped . .back and walked toward the curb next to the street, with his back toward RUBY. As the police car got even with this officer, the officer stooped down and looked inside the car. At about this time, RUBY had reached the entrance to the Main Street ramp, and he took in the movement of the police car and the officer on duty at the ramp, with a quick glance. Without breaking his stride or hesitating, RUBY turned to his left and walked down the ramp into the basement. As he entered the ramp, he does notmot- recall seeing any person standing around the - entrance,entrance. and he does not know .a former police officer named DANIELS. RUBY said hetishe`is positive he did not have either of his hands in any of his pockets--either coat or trouser pockets-- r, when he entered and walked down the ramp. RUBY was asked why he killed OSWALD, and he said, "I was in mourning Friday and Saturday. To me, when he shot before me like he did, something in my insides tore out, and I just went blank. To me, he represented--I'll go back a little bit. I listened to a eulogy Saturday morning, I am sure, and I heard Rabbi SILVERMAN speak about our President. He said, IHere•is'Here- is a man that fought in all battles, but he didn't have a chance to fight here, he was shot from the rear'. RUBY ated that in August 1959 he went to Havana, Cuba, to see_L. C C WILLIE, who was "some sort of a good will man" for the Tropicana, a gambling establishment. 'RUBYRUBY statedstated he has not been a member of any political associations, clubs or organizations. He said his brother HYMAN was at one time interested in politics in Chicago in a small way. He said he may have belonged to SinaiB'nai B'rith and the "Jewish Welfare Fund". He said he has never been a member of the Communist Party or any "front" organizations, that he has had no membership in, or affiliation with, or interest in "Fair Play for Cuba" or any other Cuban organization of any type.

RUBY volunteered that some years ago, "at a time when CASTRO was popular in the United States", he read of an individual in the vicinity of Houston, Texas, having been engaged in "gun .4.4' running to CASTRO". He said he attempted by telephone to get in touch with this individual as - he had.- in mind "making -a- buck" by possibly - acquiring some Jeeps or other similar equipment-which he might sell- to persons - interested inin theirtheir importation importation to totia;-t45i; He said nothing came of - this.this. He did not recall looking towards the east while assisting the vehicle and was certain he did not stop any carsears that were driving from the east in a westerly direction on Main Street. He observed no one entering the basement during that time. He did not know where the vehicle driven by Lieutenant PIERCE was going and after observing it make a left turn onto Main Street, did not follow the car visually. He did not know where the car went after it made this turn. He immediately walked back to the ramp after the car passed in front of him and returned to his position which was about one yard inside the ramp and in the center. He again faced in a northerly direction and there was no possibility as far as he was concerned that anyone could have come down the ramp while he was standing there and not be seen by him. He also recalled that when he motioned for the police carcar toto enterenter thethe • street that vehicles were parked at the parking meters west of the exit on the south side of Main Street. He stated the nearest parking meter is about ten feet from the ramp exit and he was certain a car was parked•at that meter.

At the ■moat,oat, about three minutiaminutes of time elapsed from the time he returned to the center of the ramp and heard a muffled shot in the basement. Just before he heard that vshotvehot he beard someone holler in. the basement, "Here he comes." Within a matter of seconds after that he heard the muffled shot. He then immediately looked down into the basement and saw a scuffle. He did not believe that someone could have gotten into the basement when he walked to the curb. He was able to see ' the ramp exit when the police car pulled out and if someone f had attempted to walk down the ramp at that time he was quite: 4

The period of time that elapsed from when he left his post to walk to the curb and return was justJust long enough for him to walk there, glance up the street, and wave the car on and walk back. He recalled that during this period of time there were about four or five people standing on the west side of the ramp entrance. The only individual he recalled in that group was the former shoeshine boy at the police department. He recalled that he had a pair of binoculars hanging from hishis neck.neck.. He did not watch the car as it drove west on Main Street and did not know whether or not the car turned onto Harwood Street. In.attempting to come to an estimate of how much time elapsed between the oar leaving the entrance and the shooting of OSWALD, he seemed to recall that the car was gone for a long enough period of time for it to arrive at its destination. After VAUGHN returned from the street, he again positioned himself in the center of the Main Street ramp facing out towards Main Street. He could not recall in which direction VAUGHN's eyes were fixed: at the time, but he did recall that he was facing directly out towatd the street. As soon as VAUGHN positioned himself there.he left his position at the end of the marble pillar and walked closer to the curb so . as to get a better view down the ramp and into the basement. After taking the few steps to that position he then faced the building and made every effort to see into the basement. It was while he was standing in that position that the man, who a few moments after that walked by VAUGHN into the basement,appeared in his vision. He stated he observed this out of the corner of his eye and the man was probably about 18 to 20 feet away when he first realized that someone was walking in his direction. The man walked directly in front of him which would have meant that he walked between the building and himself. He stated this is probably why• he distinctly recalled that the man's right hand was in his coat pocket as the right side of this individual would be the only side thatthat peps could observe as he walked by him. As previously stated po one walked down the ramp during' the time VAUGHN stepped into the street. Mt.Mr. ALNOLDEN, Westube Corporation, 1920 East Maple Street, El Segundo, calgatal,galtamal, upon interview advisedadvised as follows: He stated that he formerly resided at 13551355 Western Avenue, Northwest Section, Chicago, Illinois, and attended Schley Grammar School located at Oaklerind Patomic Street, Northwest Section, Chicago, Illinois. Mr. GOLDEN states that to the best of his recollection he attended this school in the early "1920's" and added that JACK RUBENSTEIN was also in attendance at this grammar school. He stated that after graduating from Schley Grammar School he and RUBENSTEIN, who was generally known as "Yank" among the other school children, then went to Sabin Junior High School. • Mr. GOLDEN advised that it was his recollection that he attended this latter school for one or two semesters and withdrew as his family moved to another section of Chicago, Illinois. He added that while attending Schley Grammar School he became involved in an argument with RUBENSTEIN, nature un- recalled, in the school yard of Schley Grammar School, where- upon RUBEN "knocked the hell out of me". Mr. GOLDEN described RUBENSTEIN during that period as being a "real nice kid but somebody ybu should not mess around with". He stated that RUBENSTEIN had a "trigger temper" and stated that if other school children took advantage of RUBENSTEIN it was the general rumor among the school children . hat "you were in for trouble and a beating". Mr. GOLDEN added that from a temperment standpoint RUBENSTEIN was no worse than the other kids but his temper was "triggered real quick" and by the same token he, RUBENSTEIN, "calmed down just as fast" and held no grudges against any of the kids with whom he might get in an argument with.

Mr. GOLDEN stated that after he and RUBENSTEIN en- gaged in a scuffle they became the best of friends while in attendance at the above schools as previously indicated.

On December 4, 1963, EDWARDARNORRI , Jr., owner, MORRIS MOTEL, advised that he is,ii, no doubt, the person who was overheard to remark that he, MORRIS, could call Chicago, Illinois, anytime and get all the information he wanted on JACK RUBY. MORRIS pointed out that he had been drinking at the time on November 24, 1963, but he pointed out that he had formerly resided in Chicago and, when he had seen the picture of RUBY on TV, he is sure that this is the same person who ran the TORCH CLUB, or the bar next to the TORCH CLUB, about 18 to 20 years ago. The TORCH CLUB was located on the northwest corner of Walton and Clark Streets in Chicago. The bar next to it is not believed to be any longer in existence. At that time RUBY was not using the last name of RUBY and the name he was using may have been RUBENSTEIN or similar.

MORRIS also believed that this man had worked as a bouncer at other places in Chicago. MORRIS said he is going back to Chicago next week for a visit and, if he learns any information there, be will contact the Chicago FBI Office.. MORRIS noted that there was a• rumor to the effect that this man, whatever his name, was run out of Chicago by "the syndicate." '

Previous information was received at West Yellowstone, several years ago, that EDWARD MORRIS, Jr., the owner of the MORRIS MOTEL, is a member of a Chicago meat packing house family,. that MORRIS had been given some money to go to West Yellowstone and build and operate a motel, because he was quite wild and embarrassing the family in Chicago.

Be sold insurance in Dallas, and beginning in 1953 until 1957 he worked as a salesman at the Olmsted-Kirk Paper Company, 1033 Young Street, Dallas. While working as a salesman, he had part-time work during the same period at the Fitzgerald Supper Club in Dallas. He lived in an apartment on Maple Street in Dallas, which was located across the street from the Stoneligh Hotel. Several doors nearby were some bars and one of these was called the Fitzgerald Supper Club, which was later called the Red Jacket. AYCOCKAYCOCK believedbelieved thatthat itit waswas whilewhile he waswas working part-time at the Fitzgerald Supper Club that he first met JACK RUBY. He had heard that RUBY owned the Vegas Club which was located some two miles away in Dallas.
