Mostra-se que as equações integrais resultantes podem ser formuladas na linguagem dos operadores lineares, daí resultando uma notação simplificada em que as propriedades algébricas das equações que determinam a propagação da energia são mais facilmente caracterizadas. São apresentados alguns métodos gerais de resolução de equações integrais tal como métodos aproximados e métodos de bases vectoriais finitas. Apresentam-se, ainda, as definições necessárias envolvidas na descrição de campos de energia acústica, que servem de ponto de partida à aplicação das técnicas apresentadas. ABSTRACT: This paper introduces some basic concepts of boundary integral equations and their application for the determination of the propagation of sound energy inside enclosures. Linear operators are shown to provide a simplified notation and to emphasize the algebraic properties of the resulting integral equations. Some general methods of solving linear operator and integral equations are reviewed and discussed, such as approximation methods and finite basis methods. In addition, some of the necessary definitions involved in describing acoustic energy fields for applying these techniques in the field of room acoustics prediction are presented. 1. INTRODUCTION Energy based methods offer an interesting and valid alternative mid and high frequency technique to classical predictive methods such as FEM, BEM and others. -

Let H be a complex Hilbert space, n a given positive integer and let Pn(H) be the set of all projections on H with rank n. Under the condition dim H ≥ 4n, we describe the surjective isometries of Pn(H) with respect to the gap metric (the metric induced by the operator norm). 1. Introduction The study of isometries of function spaces or operator algebras is an important research area in functional analysis with history dating back to the 1930's. The most classical results in the area are the Banach-Stone theorem describing the surjective linear isometries between Banach spaces of complex- valued continuous functions on compact Hausdorff spaces and its noncommutative extension for general C∗-algebras due to Kadison. This has the surprising and remarkable consequence that the surjective linear isometries between C∗-algebras are closely related to algebra isomorphisms. More precisely, every such surjective linear isometry is a Jordan *-isomorphism followed by multiplication by a fixed unitary element. We point out that in the aforementioned fundamental results the underlying structures are algebras and the isometries are assumed to be linear. However, descriptions of isometries of non-linear structures also play important roles in several areas. We only mention one example which is closely related with the subject matter of this paper. This is the famous Wigner's theorem that describes the structure of quantum mechanical symmetry transformations and plays a fundamental role in the probabilistic aspects of quantum theory. -

In [2] Kuˇcera proves that an LF-space is regular if and only if it is sequentially complete. In [1] Bosch and Kuˇcera prove the equivalence of regularity and sequential completeness for bornivorously webbed spaces. It is natural to ask: can this result be extended to arbitrary sequentially complete spaces? We give a partial answer to this question in this paper. 2. Definitions. Throughout the paper {(En,τn)}n∈N is an increasing sequence of Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous identity maps id : En → En+1 and E = indEn its inductive limit. A topological vector space E is sequentially complete if every Cauchy sequence {xn}⊂E is convergent to an element x ∈ E. An inductive limit indEn is regular, resp. α-regular, if each of its bounded sets is bounded, resp. contained, in some constituent space En. 3. Main results Theorem 3.1. Let each space (En,τn) be sequentially complete and indEn regular. Then indEn is sequentially complete. Proof. Let {xk} be a Cauchy sequence in indEn. -

COMPLETENESS IN QUASI-PSEUDOMETRIC SPACES – A SURVEY S. COBZAS¸ Abstract. The aim of this paper is to discuss the relations between various notions of se- quential completeness and the corresponding notions of completeness by nets or by filters in the setting of quasi-metric spaces. We propose a new definition of right K-Cauchy net in a quasi-metric space for which the corresponding completeness is equivalent to the sequential completeness. In this way we complete some results of R. A. Stoltenberg, Proc. London Math. Soc. 17 (1967), 226–240, and V. Gregori and J. Ferrer, Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III Ser., 49 (1984), 36. Introduction It is well known that completeness is an essential tool in the study of metric spaces, particularly for fixed points results in such spaces. The study of completeness in quasi-metric spaces is considerably more involved, due to the lack of symmetry of the distance – there are several notions of completeness all agreing with the usual one in the metric case (see [18] or [6]). Again these notions are essential in proving fixed point results in quasi-metric spaces as it is shown by some papers on this topic as, for instance, [4], [10], [16], [21] (see also the book [1]). A survey on the relations between completeness and the existence of fixed points in various circumstances is given in [7]. -

This conception of equicontinuity can be easily generalized to maps between topological vector spaces. For simplicity we only consider linear maps between topological vector space , in which case the continuity (and in fact the uniform continuity) at an arbitrary point is reduced to the continuity at 0. Definition 1.1. Let X; Y be topological vector spaces, and Λ be a family of continuous linear operators. We say Λ is an equicontinuous family if for any neighborhood V of 0 in Y , there is a neighborhood U of 0 in X, such that L(U) ⊂ V for all L 2 Λ. Remark 1.2. The Banach-Alaoglu theorem for topological vector spaces Christiaan van den Brink a thesis submitted to the Department of Mathematics at Utrecht University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor in Mathematics Supervisor: Fabian Ziltener date of submission 06-06-2019 Abstract In this thesis we generalize the Banach-Alaoglu theorem to topological vector spaces. the theorem then states that the polar, which lies in the dual space, of a neighbourhood around zero is weak* compact. We give motivation for the non-triviality of this theorem in this more general case. Later on, we show that the polar is sequentially compact if the space is separable. If our space is normed, then we show that the polar of the unit ball is the closed unit ball in the dual space. A Riesz Decomposition Theorem on Harmonic Spaces Without Positive Potentials

In this paper, we give a new definition of the flux of a superharmonic function defined outside a compact set in a Brelot space without positive potentials. We also give a new notion of potential in a BS space (that is, a harmonic space without positive potentials containing the constants) which leads to a Riesz decomposition theorem for the class of superharmonic functions that have a harmonic minorant outside a compact set. Furthermore, we give a characterization of the local axiom of proportionality in terms of a global condition on the space. 1. Introduction The Riesz decomposition theorem for positive superharmonic functions states that any positive superharmonic function on a region of hyperbolic type in C can be expressed uniquely as the sum of a nonnegative potential and a harmonic function. This result is of no interest when the region is parabolic because there are no nonconstant positive superharmonic functions. By a Riesz decomposition theorem for a class of superharmonic functions we mean a unique representation of each member of this class as a global harmonic function plus a member of the class of a special type. For a harmonic space with a Green function, this special class is the class of nonnegative potentials. In this case the most natural class to consider is the admissible superharmonic functions, which are the superharmonic functions that have a harmonic minorant outside a compact set.
