FREEREEPHAM LIFE YOUR Community Newspaper www.reephamlife.co.uk No. 26 September 2015 ‘Always busy’ bank closure ignites business concerns HSBC is to close its branch in Market Place, Reepham, at the close of business (3 pm) on Friday 9 October. Customers were sent a letter on 14 July signed by retail branch manager Ed Taylor informing of the “difficult decision” and stat- ing that all accounts – both personal and business – will be trans- ferred to the Street, , branch. The nearest branch and HSBC cash machine will be in Mar- ket Place, , with another on Mile Cross Lane, Norwich. While offering apologies for any inconvenience caused by the branch closure, which he said was partly due to the growth of telephone and online banking, Mr Taylor pointed out that HSBC customers can use the post office in Reepham to pay in cash or cheques, withdraw money and check balances. However, these services will only be available for personal account holders – business customers will have to use the HSBC branches in Norwich, Dereham or elsewhere. Meanwhile, traders in Reepham say they are worried about gling in the current financial climate. their future after HSBC’s decision to shut the town’s only bank. “The bank here is always busy and I am disappointed that Some town-centre retailers fear the closure of the branch could HSBC have taken a decision that seems short-sighted.
