You are invited to this Series of Lectures given by one of the world’s top New Testament scholars. “Christmas and Easter” Special Guest John Dominic Crossan Crossan is Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies at DePaul University. He is co-chairman of the Jesus Seminar and is considered a preeminent expert on the historical Jesus. November 11-12, 2011 The program will consist of four lectures:
Lecture 1 (Fri., 6:30-8:00pm) The Challenge in Matthew and Luke; Historical fact or parable.
Lecture 2 (Sat., 9:00-10:30am) The Christmas Story: How do each of the stories in Matthew and Luke point to a different emphasis of their entire gospels?
Lecture 3 (10:50am-12:20pm) The Execution of Jesus in Mark; Why did Jesus go to Jerusalem on that Passover?
Lunch* (12:30-1:15pm) in Fellowship Hall, Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church.
Lecture 4 (1:30-3:00pm) The Resurrection of Jesus in Paul: How and why does Eastern Christianity’s understand- ing of the Resurrection differ so profoundly from that of Western Christianity?
