DORSEY, Tommy, and his Orchestra #8# MEM/HOT '37 Born on 11/19/05 in Mahanoy Plane, . Choked to death on 11/26/56 (age 51). Esteemed trombonist. Played with the same wide range of bands as his older brother Jimmy, and with Vincent Lopez and Rudy Vallee, as well. After leaving Orchestra in 1935, he started his own band with the heart of the Joe Haymes ensemble. Over the years, he led an extraordinary array of top musicians. The of Sy Oliver were among the most acclaimed of the era. In 1940 got a sensational new star in . Band's theme was "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" (#8 in 1936). The brothers appeared in the 1947 movie . Reunited with Jimmy in the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra in 1953. They hosted the musical variety TV program, Stage Show, 1954-56.
