Employees of area Industries and businesses will be educated about hazardous waste and The Clean Air Act compliance issues at a seminar Nov. 10 at the University of Toledo. The main objective of the seminar will be to help industries and businesses understand some of the future changes which will be Im- plemented in the hazardous waste regulations and the Clean Air Act, according to Richard Nieman, general manager of HAZCORP Envi- ronmental Services, Inc. and moderator of the seminar. "We're trying to promote a forum in which the anxieties of envi- ronmental compliance can be released," he said. Speakers will include members of the Ohio Environmental Protec- tion Agency, a representative from the Toledo Pollution Control and an attorney in the law firm of Rohrbacher, Nicholson and Light. Linda Tilse, public information specialist for the Ohio EPA, will speak about how the organization is structured and how to obtain in- formation on new and current regulations. Tilse will also provide names and phone numbers of contact people who can answer specific questions, she said. Jeff Steers, the environment supervisor of the Ohio EPA and Mike Terpinski, environment specialist for the Ohio EPA, will present in- formation on current and future hazardous waste regulations. They will speak on the different aspects of the Resource Conserva- tion Recovery Act, which is a federal hazardous waste law, Steers said. They will also inform people how to identify the different classifi- cations of hazardous waste and the laws that apply to each, as well as the economic benefits of compliance to current and future laws, Ter- pinski said.
