En enero de 2014, CentOS anunció la unión oficial con Red Hat mientras se mantenía independiente de RHEL, [9] bajo una nueva junta directiva de CentOS. La primera versión de CentOS en mayo de 2004, numerada como CentOS versión 2, se bifurcó a partir de la versión 2.1AS de RHEL. Desde la versión 8, CentOS admite oficialmente las arquitecturas x86-64, ARM64 y POWER8, las versiones hasta la versión 6 también admiten la arquitectura IA-32. A diciembre de 2015, las versiones AltArch de CentOS 7 están disponibles para la arquitectura IA-32, Power ISA y para las variantes ARMv7hl y AArch64 de la arquitectura ARM. CentOS 8 se lanzó el 24 de septiembre de 2019. En diciembre de 2020, Red Hat terminó unilateralmente el desarrollo de CentOS. En respuesta, el fundador de CentOS, Gregory Kurtzer, creó el proyecto Rocky Linux como sucesor de la misión original de CentOS. En marzo de 2021, Cloud Linux (creadores del SO CloudLinux) lanzó un nuevo derivado de RHEL llamado AlmaLinux. Características: • Estabilidad: CentOS se desarrolla de forma continua con el fin de ofrecer la plataforma perfecta para el software más reciente. En este proceso no se pierde de vista al aspecto de la compatibilidad con las aplicaciones más antiguas. Cada paso en el desarrollo orientado al futuro siempre se hace pensando en garantizar la estabilidad de los componentes activos. Además, este sistema convence con un gran rendimiento en cuanto a la virtualización (basada en KVM o máquina virtual basada en el núcleo) y con una alta disponibilidad, siendo esta la principal razón por la que esta distribución da la talla en el funcionamiento de servidores en la nube y de virtualización. • Seguridad: este aspecto es hoy más importante que nunca, con lo que CentOS como solución corporativa basada en RHEL representa la mejor elección. Gracias a la detección proactiva de vulnerabilidades por parte del equipo de seguridad de Red Hat, su código fuente subyacente cuenta con un elevado nivel en seguridad. Además, a la hora de integrar nuevos programas o actualizar CentOS, la comprobación de la seguridad y de errores tienen prioridad. Por otra parte, la distribución de Linux soporta la extensión del kernel SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux), un producto de código abierto que cuenta con la colaboración de Red Hat y la NSA. Este programa implementa controles de autorización para el uso de los recursos informáticos, protegiendo, de este modo, contra accesos no autorizados. • Ciclos largos de mantenimiento y soporte: desde la primera versión de CentOS, tanto los lanzamientos grandes como los pequeños han estado estrechamente vinculados a las publicaciones de RHEL. Para la 4 distribuciones de LINUX adaptación del código, proceso ya suficientemente rodado, el equipo de desarrollo prevé un periodo de 2 a 6 semanas (o de unas pocas horas si se trata de pequeños cambios). Los números de cada versión se mantienen (por ejemplo RHEL 6.2 à CentOS 6.2), aunque desde la versión 7 se añade una marca temporal (timestamp) que hace referencia a la publicación del código base. Así, por ejemplo, la fuente de la versión 7.0-1406 fue publicada en junio de 2014. Además del control de versiones, CentOS también se ha ocupado de las directrices para el periodo de soporte técnico: está previsto un soporte general de hasta 7 años y un suministro de hasta 10 años de actualizaciones de seguridad (hasta la versión 5.0 eran solo 4 y 7 años). Instalación: A partir de la versión 8, CentOS es totalmente compatible con arquitecturas x86- 64, POWER8 y ARM de 64 bits, mientras que las siguientes arquitecturas no son compatibles: • IA-32 en todas las variantes, no compatible desde CentOS 7 • IA-32 sin extensión de dirección física (PAE), no compatible desde CentOS 6 • IA-64 (arquitectura Intel Itanium), fue compatible con CentOS 3 y 4 • PowerPC de 32 bits (Apple Macintosh y PowerMac con el procesador PowerPC G3 o G4), el soporte beta estaba disponible en CentOS 4 • IBM Mainframe (eServer zSeries y S / 390), no soportado desde CentOS 5 • Alpha, el soporte estaba disponible en CentOS 4 • SPARC, el soporte beta estaba disponible en CentOS 4 A diciembre de 2015, las versiones AltArch de CentOS 7 están disponibles para las variantes ARMv7hl y AArch64 de la arquitectura ARM, y existen planes para admitir otras variantes de la arquitectura ARM.     Yellow Dog 6.1 PS3 Cluster guide Hello everyone, my name is Samir Gartner and this guide is part of my university graduation project. I decided to share it because of the lack of clear documentation about the process of deploying a PS3/YDL cluster. Consider this almost a “PS3 Cluster Deployment for Dummies” guide since I putted some very clear and for some people unnecessary and obvious instructions. I apologize in advance for my grammar but English is not my main language. If you find any technical errors please let me know. The instructions to install GNU/Linux or other opensource OS in the PS3 are widely available (you can use the first part of the PS3/FEDORA instructions) so refer to those instructions for installing Yellow Dog Linux first. I recommend installing all the development tools as well as KDE and Enlightenment GUI even if you don’t like it. In my case I didn’t installed enlightenment and experienced some weird behaviors that lead me to a reinstall. Despite yellow dog has its own boot loader it is very raw and not pretty so I recommend to use OpenSUSE boot loader because it has a beautiful GUI with functional mouse and it allows you to boot into game mode very easily. I also recommend to use identical users and passwords across every node in the cluster and if you pretend to use different operating systems I also recommend to assign identical permissions users and group IDs in every machine, this will facilitate some processes and services like NFS and file sharing, Shell environment variables You must add some paths to the shell environment variables to simplify some commands and access.

U ovom radu je opisano DWARF okruženje koje omogućava autentifikovani i autorizovani prenos RPM paketa i kreiranje APT/YUM repozitorijuma korišćenjem digitalnih sertifikata. DWARF je realizovan kao veb aplikacija koja pruža autorizovano organizovanje strukture repozitorijuma, prenos RPM paketa i nezavisnu izgradnju različitih delova repozitorijuma, odnosno repozitorijuma kao celine. DWARF se trenutno koristi u SEE-GRID-SCI Grid e-Infrastrukturi. Abstract – The most of modern RPM-compatible Linux systems use YUM or APT tools for automating retrieval, configuration and installation of software packages. These package management utilities rely on the concept of software repository - storage location from which software packages may be retrieved and installed on a computer, with automatic resolution of package dependencies. When a software repository is managed and organized by many contributors from different institutions, access to the repository has to be provided to each of them.
