Previous meetings • Belgium have had the better of the sides' 12 meetings to date, but only just: W5 D3 L4. • The teams were pooled together during qualifying so know each other well; they drew 0-0 in Brussels, while Gareth Bale got the only goal in a 1-0 win for Chris Coleman's men in Cardiff in the return fixture on 12 June 2015. • The teams for that game were: Wales: Hennessey, Gunter, Taylor, Richards, Chester, Williams, Allen, Robson-Kanu (King 90+3), Ramsey, Bale (Vokes 87), Ledley. Belgium: Courtois, Alderweireld (Carrasco 77), Lombaerts, Nainggolan, Vertonghen, Witsel, De Bruyne, Benteke, Hazard, Mertens (Lukaku 46), Denayer. Follow all the build-up to Wales v Belgium in the EURO2016.com MatchCentre EURO facts – Wales • Wales have never before reached a UEFA European Championship final tournament. Their previous best performance came in 1976, when they lost to Yugoslavia 3-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals, losing the first leg 2-0 in Zagreb before a 1-1 draw in Cardiff. • Wales have matched their greatest international success by reaching the last eight; they were also quarter-finalists at their only FIFA World Cup in 1958, losing out 1-0 to eventual winners Brazil. • Bale scored seven of Wales' 11 goals in qualifying for UEFA EURO 2016, providing two assists – meaning he scored or set up 82% of his side's goals. With three goals and one assist at the finals so far, he has been a little less efficient – he has had a hand in just 57% of the Dragons' strikes in France. • This is the first time a Welsh side – club or national – will play a game in Lille. EURO facts – Belgium • This is Belgium's first UEFA European Championship final tournament since they co-hosted UEFA EURO 2000 with the Netherlands, and their fifth EURO in total. • The Red Devils' biggest achievement to date was reaching the final of this tournament in 1980, when they lost 2-1 to West Germany in Rome. • Belgium's 4-0 win against Hungary in the round of 16 was the most emphatic victory recorded at UEFA EURO 2016, and their biggest margin of victory at any major final tournament. • Lille is just over the border from Belgium, and this will be the national team's third game in the city; they lost 4-3 to France in Lille in a 1914 friendly game, and more recently won 5-0 as the away side in a World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg played in the city in 1989. Coach and player links • Current team-mates: Joe Allen and Danny Ward with Christian Benteke and Simon Mignolet (Liverpool FC) Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembélé and Jan Vertonghen with Ben Davies (Tottenham Hotspur FC) • Eden Hazard (2007-12) and Divock Origi (2012-14) both started their professional careers at LOSC Lille, having crossed the border into France to play in the club's youth academy. Hazard won a domestic double with the club in 2010/11. • As a player, Coleman remained on the bench for Wales in two World Cup qualifiers in which Wilmots featured for Belgium: a 2-0 loss in Brussels in November 1992 and a 3-2 defeat in the Belgian capital in October 1997, with Wilmots playing all 90 minutes and scoring in the more recent game after coming on as a late substitute in the former. Penalty shoot-outs • Belgium beat Spain 5-4 on penalties in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals – their only previous competitive penalty shoot-out. They also beat England 4-3 on spot kicks after a goalless draw in a friendly match in Casablanca in May 1998. • Wales have yet to feature in a shoot-out. 4 Wales - Belgium Friday 1 July 2016 - 21.00CET (21.00 local time) Match press kit Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille Métropole Squad list Wales Current season Overall Qual.
