The seating capacity of the 719-358-3340 / [email protected] facility is 4,700 spectators. 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Championship Trials 1 Event Preview Press Release @USA_Swimming l #Phillips66Nats l Facebook.com/USASwimming FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 Contact: John Martin ([email protected] / 719-866-3603) U.S. Swimming Stars to Compete at Phillips 66 Nationals in Indianapolis Five-day meet set for June 25-29 at Indiana University Natatorium COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – National titles and U.S. roster spots for next month’s world championships will be on the line for the nation’s top swimmers at USA Swimming’s Phillips 66 National Championships, which opens Tuesday, June 25 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the Campus of IUPUI. Among the swimmers slated to compete in the star-studded field are more than 30 members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, including gold medalists Missy Franklin (Centennial, Colo.) and Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.). Additional individual event Olympic gold medalists from London scheduled to swim in Indianapolis include Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.), Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif.), Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.), Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md.), Allison Schmitt (Canton, Mich.) and Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas). In total, nearly 500 of the nation’s top swimmers are expected to compete in the five-day meet, which will decide who will represent the U.S. in the sport’s biggest international competition outside of the Olympic Games. The action begins Tuesday, June 25 and continues through Saturday, June 29. Prelims will be held each day at 9 a.m. EDT, followed by finals at 6 p.m. EDT. Tickets are required for each session and can be purchased online. This meet is the sole qualifier for the U.S. team for the pool competition at the FINA World Championships, which runs Getty Images July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona, Spain. The winner of each Olympic event will claim an automatic spot on the roster, and a complete team selection procedure is outlined at usaswimming.org. Extensive television coverage of the event will be aired by the NBC Sports Group. See page 3 for a complete schedule. This year, Phillips 66 – the title sponsor for the event – is celebrating 40 years of sponsoring USA Swimming, the longest consecutive sponsorship of any amateur sport in history.
