With thankfulness to my encouraging husband Jim who dared to love “because Jesus is Love” and whose love for children lights our way in parenting. I would also like to thank my many dear friends who asked me to write this, especially Kay Walkingstick. Great appreciation also to my mother and father for their example in loving each other. For the best way to love your children is to love each other most. With God's grace and with all this love this book is now a reality. Specific acknowledgment and thanks to Mary Knapp, Tim and Caprice Becker, and our son, Nathan. God bless all those visionaries who contributed and encouraged! The Wedding – September 16th, 1972 Helen (19) and Jim (21) 7 8 AUTHOR'S PREFACE Please note that every other chapter emphasizes an age group. These groupings are general, of course, but in each the specific topics are dealt with that are typical to their phase of growth. I write to you as a mother with my five children within each of these phases. I begin with the most recently born and end with our eldest who is now 24 years old. During these 25 years of marriage we have cared for many more children than just our own. We have also fostered and often seriously considered legal adoption. Especially in teenagers, there is a great need to belong to someone's family. Legal or not, we hold these young people in our hearts as a family and they are adopted by us forever. For this experience, we feel privileged and thank the Heavenly Father. Within any culture of the world, I pray that these secrets will be an encouragement and help to you precious parents as you shape your golden arrows to hit their mark for God's Kingdom. I share the tenderest of my moments of mothering with you. I pray that you will hear the Heavenly Father whispering His secrets of parenting to your heart. He, as the Father of fathers, will guide you specifically for He loves your child more than you could. He is the perfect love! We totally trust Him and thank Him for all the blessings He has brought to us, His children. Any shadows come from the enemy and are to be resisted in Jesus' holy name. “Luck” isn't in our vocabulary, just blessings! At the end of the book, you will find a list of verses used in my book. The special truth and encouragement of these and the Bible as a whole, are like the stepping-stones we needed to cross the river of life safely. Please read these! Without comparison, the Bible is the best tool for wise parenting. Sit down with your children and peacefully explain it and enjoy it together. It will have its own supernatural effects with the Divine Holy Spirit teaching them. My love and prayers will be with each one of you who reads this book. God's blessings upon you always. - Helen P.S. • Groove Me New Jack Swing Feel
GROOVE ME NEW JACK SWING FEEL Original Recording Profile Recording Artist: Guy Drummer: drum machine Original Album: Guy Record Label: MCA Recording Date: 1988 Recorded at various studios throughout the New York and New Jersey area Historical Overview This tune set a new precedent when it first hit the airwaves in 1988. It featured this ridiculously funky and utterly infectious groove. The drum beat itself was the main attraction of the song and was deceivingly not as simple as it sounded. This song was produced by Teddy Riley, a pioneer and innovator of a new sound that was dubbed new jack swing. New jack swing was a style of R&B music that combined ol’ skool soul vocals and harmonies with rap interludes to bring about a fusion of old and new music. It had the swing factor of jazz music with the fat backbeat associated with funk. The swingy feeling was most often felt in the arena of the drum machine-programmed percussion, bass drum, and hi-hat parts. In essence, the music was swing funk with modern production and recording techniques that made use of one of its newest tools, the drum machine. Because many of the people that were programming the machines were not drummers themselves, they didn’t consider whether any of us mere humans could play the groove in a live situation when called upon to do so later. This put incredible new demands on drummers that were sometimes a bit overwhelming. But if you were willing to stretch the limits of your playing and get out of your comfort zone, this era was a great opportunity to experience new growth.

  • Stevie Wonder Soundtracks Blog Website Version
1 The follow-up studio album, after the anthology album “Looking Back” (1977), was “Stevie Wonder's Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants", the first soundtrack album of his career, released in 1979. It was based on the book of the same name written by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird. The album can be described as a soundtrack documentary relating to plant life. The album only produced one major hit single, “Send One Your Love”, which topped the Billboard Adult Contemporary Singles Chart week-ending 22nd December 1979 (2 weeks). The single features Stevie Wonder on vocal and Ben Bridges and Rick Zunigar on guitars. It is a very slow tempo track, with Rick Zunigar playing standing bass, and Ben Bridges playing rhythm acoustic guitar. Wonder also plays the drums on the track. This is a very relaxing track compared to many of his previous recordings, similar in tempo to "You Are The Sunshine of My Life". The track was recorded at the famous Sigma Sound Studios, Philadelphia, PA, known for “The Philadelphia Sound”. The beginning of the track features voices of people that explode into a funky jazz fusion number, in a style that was very popular during the 1970s. You can hear a funky bass line with Vocoder voice box used in the 2 middle of the track and a choir of beautiful voices singing in the background. Ken Tucker of the Rolling Stone music magazine wrote an article dated 24th January 1980, that contains some unusual advice: “Begin at the end. Stevie Wonder's Journey through the Secret Life of Plants is so uneven, so full of tiny pleasures and bloated tedium, that for some assurance that Wonder hasn't lost his touch, you ought to start by listening to 1979 the LP's last cut.
