MEDIA CLIPS – May 4, 2018 Ottavino's slider among NL West's best pitches AJ Cassavell / MLB.com | May 3, 2018 For the better part of the past decade, the National League West has been home to a host of baseball's elite arms. Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and Madison Bumgarner have spent plenty of time at the pinnacle of the sport. Robbie Ray, Jon Gray and Joey Lucchesi are among league's the best youngsters. The pitchers in the NL West are great. And, naturally, so are the pitches they throw. With that in mind, MLB.com took an in-depth look at the signature pitch for each team in the division. Some were obvious. Some were surprising. All were filthy. D-backs The pitch: Zack Godley's curveball How he uses it: A lot. In fact, no pitcher in baseball has thrown a curveball more frequently than the 198 times Godley has used his this season. That increase in usage has effectively turned him from a No. 5 starter to a front-of-the-rotation type arm. What it does: Baseball features plenty of curveball specialists with big, looping breaking pitches that are deceptive because they change the pace. Not Godley. His curve gets on hitters quick. So much movement at such high velocity is precisely what makes Godley's curve extraordinarily difficult for hitters to pick up. 1 What they say: "It's one of the best curves I've ever seen. It looks like a cutter, then all of a sudden, it disappears." - - Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco Statcast™ fact: Godley's curveball has averaged 81.7 mph this season.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Walking the Corporate Beat Police School for Business People by Michael Tabman Midnight Sin. MIDNIGHT SIN When a rookie cop walks on to the midnight shift, the lines between right and wrong become blurred. Every step he takes and every decision he makes has unforeseen consequences. His life will never be the same. Becoming a cop changes everything you thought you knew about life. Midnight Sin is an inside look at the dark and mysterious world behind the cop's badge. Rookie cop Gary Hollings quickly learns that wrestling street thugs and arresting drug dealers while trying to track down a serial rapist is nowhere near as tough as watching his back from his fellow cops. He must also fight his inner demons - ones that he never knew he had until he put on that police uniform. The police world is one of long hours and split-second decisions where the choices are not always clear. Midnight Sin is a gritty cop novel that explores the complexities of the cop psyche. "I have spent my life watching cop shows both on TV and in the movies and Michael Tabman's Midnight Sin is as good as anything that has come before it. Once you start reading you will not be able to stop. Michael has reached deep inside and managed to capture his heart and soul as a cop - the joy of helping others as well as the fear and loathing felt so deeply as they are forced to deal with the worst our society has to offer.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WEEKLY NOTES FRIDAY, JULY 28, 2017 BLACKMON WORKING TOWARD HISTORIC SEASON On Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Coors Field, Colorado Rockies All-Star outfi elder Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and his 24th home run of the season. With the round-tripper, Blackmon recorded his 57th extra-base hit on the season, which include 20 doubles, 13 triples and his aforementioned 24 home runs. Pacing the Majors in triples, Blackmon trails only his teammate, All-Star Nolan Arenado for the most extra-base hits (60) in the Majors. Blackmon is looking to become the fi rst Major League player to log at least 20 doubles, 20 triples and 20 home runs in a single season since Curtis Granderson (38-23-23) and Jimmy Rollins (38-20-30) both accomplished the feat during the 2007 season. Since 1901, there have only been seven 20-20-20 players, including Granderson, Rollins, Hall of Famers George Brett (1979) and Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Hall of Famer Jim Bottomley (1928) and Frank Schulte, who did so during his MVP-winning 1911 season. Charlie would become the fi rst Rockies player in franchise history to post such a season. If the season were to end today, Blackmon’s extra-base hit line (20-13-24) has only been replicated by 34 diff erent players in MLB history with Rollins’ 2007 season being the most recent. It is the fi rst stat line of its kind in Rockies franchise history. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig is the only player in history to post such a line in four seasons (1927-28, 30-31).
