When I first started posting my compositions on the Sibelius website (now known as Score Exchange) one of the dangerous highlights was to venture onto the forum there to encounter the positive sunbeams, listless lurkers and terrifying trolls of the self-pubbing music world. Things move on, the site was updated, changed ownership and the forum disbanded – not that it ever did much for publicising our work to those who buy rather than produce musical compositions and arrangements. Off we set into the dangerous wilderness of Twitter or into our own composer forums…. Now I have been writing for years. My first love is poetry of course and as a musician and teacher it seemed I had little time for the more challenging written forms but since giving up work to become a carer I have had a second chance at the writing and produced my own novel, The Cougar, which is available on Amazon now worldwide. Wow! That in itself is amazing. The internet is so very powerful and liberating to creative artists, writers and musicians! And in paperback… Finding Goodreads is another step on the journey. Here a writer can meet up with other writers and readers, sharing the books that they love, reviewing and being presented with an opportunity to connect with new friends as well as possible readers. I have got myself into the spirit with a Giveaway of the new release of my poetry book, In Remembrance of Future Present. I have a sneaking fondness for this little bit of juvenile madness – some of the poems I even like. (Any poet will understand that!) Paris Jackson. Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson , commonly known as Paris Jackson , is an actress and model. She is known for being the only daughter of pop singer Michael Jackson. She is probably most famously known for speaking at her father's funeral in July 2009 at the mere age of 11 years old. Contents. Early life. Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson is the only daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe. She has one older brother, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., and one younger half-brother, Prince Michael Jackson II. She was born on April 3, 1998, in Beverly Hills, California. Jackson was allegedly named after the French city she was conceived in and both her father and paternal grandmother. Jackson was raised solely by her father, who received full custody rights following his divorce in 1999, although Rowe had stated it was her intention and agreed upon with Michael that he would raise and have custody of the children. She grew up at Neverland Ranch with her siblings. Her father made longtime friends and actors Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin, the godparents of Jackson and her brother Prince. On public outings with their father, Prince and Paris' faces were always obscured from the public and media. During her childhood, she and her siblings often wore masks during public outings with their father to hide their faces from the public. In an interview, her mother Debbie Rowe revealed that she was the one who had come up with the idea of her children hiding their faces. Rowe also said that this precaution was taken as she used to receive kidnap threats when Prince and Paris were babies. Following her father's death in 2009, her grandmother Katherine was made the permanent guardian of her and her brothers, while Rowe obtained visitation rights. She made her first television appearance in the documentary, Living with Michael Jackson alongside her father and her brothers, although her and her brothers' faces were never shown. She was also portrayed by Brooklynn Proulx in the 2004 television biopic Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story. Father's Death. Paris, speaking out for the first time at her father's memorial service. On June 25, 2009 Jackson's father Michael died at his rented mansion. On July 7, at her father's memorial service at the Staples Center, Jackson spoke through tears for the very first time about her father with her family onstage, in which she said, "I just want to say. Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just want to say I love him. so much." Life After Michael's Death. Paris and her siblings would live with their grandmother Katherine after Michael's passing. In 2010, Jackson would be enrolled in Buckley School, along with her brother Michael, and she'd be an active part in school, participating in a variety school sports. In 2013, she left the school. Public Appearances and Recent News. In 2010, Jackson and her brothers gave an interview for Oprah Winfrey alongside their grandmother Katherine and their cousins about life after her father's death. She and her brother Prince also accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Grammy Awards on their father's behalf. In 2011, Jackson signed on to star in the film the children's fantasy film Lundon's Bridge and the Three Keys , a story adapted from a book written by Dennis Christen. Ultimately, the film was not produced. She and her siblings were mentioned in her aunt La Toya's 2011 autobiography, Starting Over . In May of 2012, Jackson made People Magazine' s Most Beautiful list. In June 2012, Paris made a guest appearance on the Oprah Winfrey series Next Chapter , where she discussed her father, her childhood and her experience as a victim of cyberbullying. Paris as seen on Oprah Winfrey's Next Chapter. On June 5, 2013, Jackson allegedly attempted suicide by swallowing 20 Motrin PM pills and cutting her wrist with a kitchen knife, allegedly leaving behind a suicide note. Following Jackson's suicide attempt, she has been reportedly recovering at the therapeutic boarding school, Alpine Academy, in Utah. Jackson, her two siblings, and her grandmother Katherine made plans to put together a documentary film entitled Remembering Michael in remembrance of her deceased father. Costs associated with the making of the project was hoped to be funded via contributing fans through the crowdfunding site FundAnything. Due to the uproar from the fans and media sparked by this method, Katherine decided to shut down the campaign. In a sneak peek of the documentary (shot before Jackson's suicide attempt), she remarked that her father had promised to teach her and her brother, Prince his famous dance move, the Moonwalk, but never had gotten the chance. Since the shut down of the online campaign, no further updates have been reported concerning this project. Career. Starting in the late 2010's, Jackson started to get involved in acting. In 2017, she made her acting debut guest starring in FOX's Star series as Rachel Wallace. Next year in 2018, she made her feature film debut in the movie Gringo , which received mixed reviews from audiences. Jackson appeared in the third season of VH1's Scream TV series. She and Gabriel Glenn created the The Soundflowers, a musical duo, in 2018. In June 2020, they released The Soundflowers. The duo split in August of 2020. She released her first single, Let Me Down, in October 2020, and in November she released her album Wilted . Personal Life. By 2015, Paris Jackson appeared to be in a much better place in her life. She began dating Chester Castellaw that year. The pair even walked the red carpet together at a theater event in Los Angeles that May. The pair split by the end of 2015. Paris dated Michael Snoddy, who is a drummer for Street Drum Corps from 2016 to 2017. Tattoos. In 2016, Paris took to social media on her Instagram account, sharing pictures of her new tattoo collection, with 8 of them dedicated to her father. On the subject of her tattoos, Paris has said, “The craftsmanship of tattoos will always be a controversy. some people like them, some people absolutely hate them. I appreciate art, I always have. especially when that art means something to me. “Today I can look at my inner forearms and see art that has meaning for me, I don’t see a dark past anymore. my scars… of self-hatred have been covered by loving marks, creativity, ingenuity… and depth.” Celebrating Redemption: Past, Present, Future. Jesus’ Last Supper provides the basis for one of the most important observances of the Christian church: the Lord’s Supper, also known as Eucharist or Communion in different traditions. From the earliest days of the church, Christians have re-enacted the Lord’s Supper in accordance with Jesus’ instruction that his followers “do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). The New Covenant. The significance of the Last Supper is seen in the fact that it is when Jesus instituted the new covenant with God’s people, as he explained, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood” (Luke 22:20).

  • Core Like a Rock: Luther’S Theological Center
OCTOBER 2, 2017 CORE LIKE A ROCK: LUTHER’S THEOLOGICAL CENTER Kenneth A. Cherney, Jr., PhD WISCONSIN LUTHERAN SEMINARY CORE LIKE A ROCK: LUTHER’S THEOLOGICAL CENTER You have asked me in this essay to “review the central core of Luther’s confession of divine revelation.” That is interestingly put. Lots of things have cores, and they function in different ways. Apples have cores that you throw away. When I was growing up, Milwaukee had its “inner core,” defined in 1960 by a special mayoral commission as the area between Juneau Avenue on the south, 20th Street on the west, Holton Street on the east, and Keefe Avenue on the north—a blighted part of town, so they said, where people from my tribe didn’t go.1 The earth’s “core” is a glob of molten nickel/iron wrapped around a solid iron ball, and those who claim to know these things say our core generated the heat that caused Florida to break off from Africa and remain stuck on Georgia and Alabama,2 for which many persons are grateful. The “core” of a nuclear reactor is like that; it’s where the fissionable material is found and where the reaction happens that is the whole point. So is the cylinder of “core” muscles around your abdomen, without which you can have biceps the size of Dwayne Johnson’s and when the bad guys show up you’re still basically George McFly, only in a tighter shirt. That is how I understand my assignment. You want to hear about Luther’s spiritual fulcrum, the point around which everything turned.

  • Child Therapist Rocky Spino on Custody Issues, Children of Michael Jackson, and Child Welfare by Reg Seeton
Child Therapist Rocky Spino on Custody Issues, Children of Michael Jackson, and Child Welfare By Reg Seeton The sudden and tragic death of music icon Michael Jackson has thrust the custody of his three children - Prince Michael, Paris, and Blanket - into the glare of media spotlight. Although issues of custody may be black and white to some parents involved, the loss of family stability can often send a child into a confusing tailspin of divided loyalties. In higher profile custody disputes, at times the welfare of children can become secondary to the bitter fight of winning the battle. In an effort to sort out the real issues and dynamics surrounding children at the center of custody disputes and to learn more about various professional options to keep the best interests of children in mind, we sought out 20 year child therapist and licensed counselor, Rocky Spino, a former clinical director within the Children’s Aid Society and adjunct professor of counselor education at McDaniel College in Maryland who specializes in the mental health of children and their parents in divorces resulting in high risk behavior. With fractured families and single parenthood at higher levels than at any other time in history, more children than ever are being thrust into contentious custody battles. In relation to the welfare of children involved, what happens if a parent dies when custody isn't resolved? How about if an absent mother returns to assert her rights after a previous custody arrangement? What if grandparents stand up to fight for custody of

Even as this article is written, controversy rages not only over the cause of his death but also the legacy he has left behind. 2 Michael manifested all that we loved and loathed of our humanity – a desire to restore the innocence of the world and yet a dark inclination towards deviant transgressions. He was very much an enigma that many imitated but few identifi ed with. Although he was a hypersensitive recluse victimized by an abusive childhood, his transformations of physiognomy caused him to be the focus of uninterrupted media attention. He reportedly gave millions to charitable organizations yet left behind an inheritance of debt and lawsuits.

Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 19, 1958. Michael's father, Joe Jackson, worked as a crane operator at a steel mill. His mother, Katherine, took care of the family and sometimes took part time jobs. Both of Michael's parents loved music. The Jackson Family Michael grew up in a large family. He had five brothers (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy) and three sisters (Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet). BROKEN PROMISE: THE DEMISE OF “SURE AND CERTAIN RELIEF” UNDER THE NORTH DAKOTA WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ACT DEAN J. HAAS* ABSTRACT The workers’ compensation bargain in which employees gave up the ability to sue their employers in exchange for “sure and certain relief” is premised on the economic theory that such voluntary agreement between competing interests promotes efficiency in an unfettered market. The cost of workers’ compensation, ostensibly borne by employers, is supposedly priced into the cost of the product or service. This is said to “internalize” the cost to industry, a bedrock economic principle necessary to ensure efficient allocation of resources and employee safety.

We have selected articles that we feel reflect the tremendous breadth of our colleagues’ research. These articles address topics that range from Platonic philosophy, to medieval law codes, to verse translations and beyond. The swathe of institutions from which we have solicited articles is likewise diverse; our contributing authors attend schools all over the world, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the University of Pennsylvania, Haverford College and Brown University.
