9:40 – 10:30 Session A Pro Tips: Using Data to Improve Your Practice ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Lucy Scholz, George Washington Carver High School Using Google Sheets to Manage Data as a College Counselor: tips & tricks for saving time, and using data to improve your practice.

I want it, I want it now! ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Allie Pierson, Academy of Sacred Heart, In a growing culture of "I want it, and I want it now!", first year college counselors can misunderstand that while they may have the professional experience to offer a robust college counseling program, that they can fail to launch if they ignore the customer service side of their role. This workshop will explore action- oriented tips of the trade to keep students (and sometimes even more pressing - THEIR PARENTS) happy. We will develop an actionable plan that allows counselors to create partnerships with families without undermining the integrity of their program.

Session B 10:40 – 11:30 Peer Forward: Purposefully Engaging Educational Resources ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Loubert Senatus, Christopher Shires, Gary Z. Linnen & Abramson Sci Academy Peer Leaders Participants will learn about Youth Activation and its positive effects on school communities. In partnership with Abramson Sci Academy, we will discuss how we tap into the power of youth activation to expand the college counseling capacity of your staff.

Government Advocacy, Educational Policy, Oh my! ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Christy Sevier, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University This session will provide insight on recent developments in education policy and TOPS, including the 2018 legislative session. Government advocacy is a great way to stay informed and champion for the best interests of your students and their families. This session will explore ways you can make an impact.

12:40 – 1:30 Session C Counselor Involvement 101 ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Sheena Reed, Metairie Park Country Day School Mrs. Reed will share tips on getting involved in your counselor community both locally and nationally. She will also explore how professional engagement and development can contribute to both professional and personal growth.

Planning the Perfect College Tour ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Kerrie Caruso, Mount Carmel Academy Finding the time and money to tour colleges can be difficult for families. Learn best practices for planning a group tour (including appropriate age of participants and deciding which colleges to visit, when and for how long), and the utilization of virtual tours. Participants will gain perspective from both the high school and college side.

Session D 1:40 – 2:30 Writing Revolution: The College Essay Edition ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Alex Bell, Abramson Sci Academy This workshop will focus on how to push students to expand sentences and paragraphs through the use of The Writing Revolution's sentence-level activities. These activities will allow counselors to provide meaningful and implementable feedback to students, and to enhance the descriptive qualities and complexity of student writing.

Preparing Students for the First Year Experience: Part 2 ( .75 Continuing Education Units) Dr. Jeff Benjamin & Amelie Wax , Back by popular demand! A continuation of their session last year, this presentation will focus on transformative practices for first year college students; while examining the types of characteristics that are imperative for students to adopt within their first year.
