BUS SERVICE CHANGES IN THE AND TYNESIDE AREA From 16 September 2012

Please note, the following services remain unchanged: 3, 6, 13, 18, 19, 32/32a, 32, 32b, 33a, 59, 100, 295, 335, 438, 494, 508, 685, 714, M71, W2, X85

Service 1 Blyth - Widdrington Estate The route will be simplified with all buses running as service 1. The route will remain the same as it is now between Blyth and Widdrington Council Estate, and will serve Cresswell. The route north of Widdrington will be replaced by the 20/X20. The current 1A route in Newbiggin will no longer run. Service 2 Blyth - Morpeth The route will be simplified, with all buses running as service 2 between Blyth and Morpeth (there will no longer be a 2A service number). The route will remain as it is now, but with all buses running via Stead Lane in Bedlington.

Service 4 Callerton - Metrocentre Nexus contract service withdrawn and will be replaced by the new 84/84A service Service 10/11 Newcastle - Blyth Service will now be replaced in parts by the X10 and X11 which will now operate evening services. The 43 will replace the 10/11 in the evenings between and Newcastle. This will provide a faster, half hourly service to Seaton Burn, with reduced services after 1800. Service 144 Morpeth - Thropton This will be replaced by the Service 14 between Morpeth and Thropton. There will be no changes to this route. It will continue to Newcastle as the X14. Service 18 - Morpeth The service will be replaced by the new service 36 which will provide a more frequent hourly service.

Service 20C Widdrington - Coquet High This service will be run by another operator School Service 430 North Seaton - Linton This service has been renumbered from 430 to 30. Buses will serve Ashington Bus Station in both directions, it will no longer serve the Lintonville stop in the town centre Service M3 Morpeth - Lancaster Park/Stobhill This service will be replaced by the new 33 service between Morpeth and Lancaster Park/Northgate Hospital. There will also be a new 38 service between Morpeth and Stobhill. There will be no change to the route Service 35 Morpeth - Newbiggin This will remain the same route as it is now, except Monday to Saturday daytimes buses will serve Cresswell Arms rather than Seacrest Road in Newbiggin. In the evenings and on Sundays, buses will serve both the Cresswell Arms and Seacrest Road

arrivabus.co.uk Service 41 Newcastle - Blyth This Sunday only service will no longer operate and will be replaced by new journeys on the X13 Service 43 Newcastle - Cramlington This service will run between Newcastle and Cramlington only. The route will remain as it is now between Newcastle and Cramlington Shops. Passengers travelling between Cramlington and Morpeth can change at Bedlington. Service 322 and Newcastle - Morpeth This service will be replaced by the 44 and the 44A. The 44 will operate Monday to Saturday daytime between X44 Newcastle and Dinnington via the current Monday to Saturday daytime X44 route. The 44A runs between Newcastle and Morpeth via the current Monday to Saturday daytime X44 route, but at school times buses will follow the 322 route between Blagdon and Morpeth.

Service 45 Newcastle - Brunswick There are no changes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, with buses running between Newcastle and Brunswick as they do now. Early morning, evening and Sunday buses to follow the standard Monday to Saturday daytime route, there will be no extensions to and from Dinnington.

Service 46/ 46A Newcastle - Great Park/Brunton There is no change to the existing Monday to Saturday daytime route. However, evening and Sunday journeys will be Park re-numbered from 46A to 46 to simplify the service and will run via the daytime route, serving all of the estate. There will be an earlier bus between Great Park and Newcastle Monday to Friday mornings arriving into Newcastle at 0700.

Service 52 Ashington - Freeman Hospital Service will no longer operate, it will be replaced by 53/53A, 57, 58/58A, and X5 X22. - 57 - Ashington - Cramlington - 58/58a - Bacon Hill - Cramlington - 53/53a - Cramlington - - X5 - Cramlington - Quorum - Four Lane Ends - Freeman Hospital

Passengers travelling from Ashington/Bedlington to the Freeman Hospital can change at Cramlington or Newcastle Passengers travelling from Killingworth - Freeman Hospital can catch a Stagecoach bus to Four Lane Ends and connect with the X5 to the Freeman Hospital. Passengers travelling from Ashington/Bedlington/Killingworth to the DSS offices in Longbenton will still be able to travel at peak times using the 494/498 which will arrive at Longbenton 0745 and leave 1630

arrivabus.co.uk Service 53/53A Cramlington - / There will be a new and improved frequency from 30 minutes to every 15 minutes between Cramlington and New North Shields York. The service will no longer operate between Blyth to Cramlington Shops. The Oval and The Avenues in Blyth are still served with services within a 500m distance. From Cramlington Shops the new 53 and 53A will run via Dudley Lane, Grieves Row, Fern Drive, Front Street, Burradon Road, Front Street, Station Road, West Bailey and Killingworth Bus Station, then the existing 53 route to New York roundabout (at the junction of New York Road and Rake Lane). The 53 will then run via its existing route to Whitley Bay, while the 53A will follow the current 56 route to North Shields. Peak time buses will serve Cobalt Business Park, running via Silverlink North, Quicksilver Way and Silver Fox Way. Buses will not serve Northumberland Business Park and the evening extension to Whitley Bay bandstand will no longer operate. Service 55 Newcastle - Forest Hall The route will operate as it does now except that evening journeys will observe the standard Monday to Saturday daytime route and will not serve Quorum Business Park. There will also be an earlier bus arriving into Newcastle at 0700.

Service 56 Newcastle - North Shields This service will no longer operate replaced in parts by the 53A, X4 and X6 - 53A - Shiremoor - North Shields - X4 - Newcastle - South Gosforth - X6 - Newcastle - Quorum - Killingworth Backworth will be served by the 59 and X6.

Service 57/57a Whitley Bay - Cramlington / This service will operate with all buses via the current 57 route between Whitley Bay and Cramlington Shops, except Ashington that all buses will serve Tilmouth Avenue and Elsdon Avenue in Seaton Delaval. From Cramlington Shops, buses will run via Dudley Lane, the B1326, Station Road, the A1171, Crow Hall Lane, Burdon Avenue, Arcot Avenue, Crow Hall Lane, the A1171, Nelson Drive, Nelson Road, Nelson Way, the A1068 Fisher Lane, the A192 Hartford Bank, the A1068 Hartford Road, the A1068 Choppington Road, High Street, the A196 Stakeford Lane, West Ford Road, Blackclose Bank and North Seaton Road to Ashington Bus Station. From there, the 57 will extend to/from North Seaton via the current X22 route. Buses operate via of North Seaton estate. Evening and Sunday buses will extend from Whitley Bay to North Shields via the existing route to Billy Mill roundabout then the current 56 route to North Shields town centre. The evening and Sunday journeys to Beacon Hill will no longer operate

Starting and finishing at Cramlington Shops, buses will run via Dudley Lane, Low Main Place, Station Road, the A1172, Beacon Lane, Eastbourne Gardens, Beacon Lane, Nelson Drive, the A1171, East Hartford, the A192, the B1505, the A1061, the B1505, the B1320 Village Road, Northumbrian Road, Cateran Way, Northumbrian Road, the A1174 and Dudley Lane. Buses will run in both directions except in Beacon Hill village where they will run clockwise only and in East Hartford village where they will run anti- clockwise only. Buses will run both ways on Cateran Way Service 322 Blagdon - Morpeth Chantry This service will no longer operate it will become part of the new 44A School Service 332 Regent Centre - Quorum Business The current section of route between Great Park and Regent Centre will no longer operate, which means that the 332 Park will run between Regent Centre and Quorum Business Park only. The route between Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends will be the same as now, but then buses will operate the same way as service 555 via Balliol West Business Park and Quorum Business Park before returning to Four Lane Ends Service 430 North Seaton - Linton Will be renumbered 30 Service 434 Ashington - Blyth Will be renumbered 34 Service 495 Loansdean - St Robert This service will no longer operate Newminster School Service 498 Blyth - DSS Longbenton This will operate the same route as now between Blyth and the roundabout at the junction of Laverock Hall Road and the A192. Buses will then run via the A1061, Durham Road, Northumbrian Road, Dudley Lane, Cramlington Shops, Dudley Lane, Northern Terrace, Grieves Row, Fern Drive, Front Street, Burradon Road, Front Street, Station Road, West Bailey, Killingworth Bus Station, Southgate, Great Lime Road, Benton Lane, Four Lane Ends, Front Street, Whitley Road, DSS Tyneview Park, Whitley Road, Front Street and Benton Park Road to DSS Longbenton. The morning journey will run via DSS Tyneview Park then finish at DSS Longbenton; the afternoon journey will start from DSS Tyneview Park and run via DSS Longbenton. Neither will serve Ainthorpe Gardens.

Service 499 Cramlington - DSS Longbenton This service will no longer operate, some parts of the route will be served by the 332 and 498. and Seaton Burn will no longer be served on this route.

Service 501/ 505 Newcastle - Berwick This service will be replaced by the new service X15 and X18

Service 505 Newcastle - Berwick This service will be replaced by the new service X18

This journey will no longer be serving the health centre in Pegswood. Pegswood will be served via the main with services X18 and 35 with four buses an hour. Service 519 Newcastle - Ashington This service will no longer operate Service 555 Four Lane Ends - Quorum This service will operate the same route as now, but only during peak times. The park will be served by the X5 every 30 Business Park minutes during the day.

Service 562 Seaton Delaval - Ashington The 2 journeys a day on the service will no longer run, but passengers can use the alternative 57 service Service 565 Morpeth - Ashington College Passengers can now travel on the 35 service Service X4 Newcastle - Blyth This service will operate via the existing X4 route between Blyth and Seaton Delaval, except that evening buses will follow the standard daytime route and not serve Amersham Road. Buses will take a more direct route in Seaton Delaval, running via Astley Road, Park View, Elsdon Avenue and Avenue Road. It will not be serving Deane Street and Tilmouth Avenue (Tilmouth Avenue will be served by service 57) Buses will then run via the current X4 route between Seaton Delaval and Quorum Business Park. From Quorum, buses will run via Benton Lane, West Farm Avenue, Killingworth Road, Station Road, Chruch Avenue, Church Road, Gosforth High Street, Great North Road and Barras Bridge to Newcastle. Buses will serve all stops between Blyth and Gosforth High Street, then call at Barras Bridge (towards Newcastle only) and the . All journeys (in both directions) will run via the first roundabout in Quorum. No X4 buses will serve Four Lane Ends or Longbenton DSS

Service X5 Newcastle - Blyth New Blyth to the Freeman Hospital service. Will now serve Blyth to Newcastle every 30 minutes. From Blyth Bus Station, buses will run via Waterloo Road, Renwick Road, Princess Louise Road, Newsham Road, Southend Avenue, Ogle Drive, Ford Drive, Albion Way, Dean View Drive, Briardale Road, Tynedale Drive and Cowpen Road to Bebside roundabout (at the junction of the A189). Buses will then run via the current X5 route between Bebside and Cramlington Shops. From Cramlington Shops, buses will run via Dudley Lane, Northumberland Road, Village Road, the B1505, Annitsford Front Street, Burradon Road, Burradon Front Street, the B1505, Station Road, Northumbrian Way, Southgate, Great Lime Road, Benton Lane, Quorum Business Park, Benton Lane, Four Lane Ends, Benton Park Road, Freeman Road, Newton Road, Coast Road, Jesmond Road, Sandyford Road and St Mary’s Place to Newcastle. Buses will serve all stops between Blyth and Freeman Road (outside the Freeman Hospital), then call at St Mary’s Place and the Haymarket bus station. All journeys (in both directions) will run to the first roundabout in Quorum. This will not serve The Community College, North Farm, and will not run via Fern Drive. Either end of Fern Drive will be served by buses X5 (one end) and 43 (one end)

arrivabus.co.uk X6 Newcastle - Blyth Now served by X5 NEW Service X6 Newcastle - North Shields Replaces elements of the withdrawn 56 to Killingworth and X8 to Whitley Bay and extend via Marden and Preston Please note this service is a Grange to North Shields. different X6 to the current Will change from a 30 minutes to an hourly service between Newcastle and North Shields. From Newcastle service Haymarket, buses will run via Barras Bridge, Great North Road, Jesmond Dene Road, Matthew Bank, Hadricks Mill Road, Killingworth Road, Salters Lane and the Balliol Bus Link to Quorum Business Park. Buses will then run via the current 56 route to the roundabout at the junction of Station Road, New York Road and Earsdon Road in Shiremoor. Buses will then run via New York Road, the A191, Park Lane, the A186, Earsdon Village, Earsdon Road, Rosemount Way, Newsteads Drive, Red House Drive, Beaumont Drive, Monkseaton Drive, Woodburn Drive, Claremont Road, Ilfracombe Gardens and Park View to Whitley Bay town centre. Buses will follow the current X9 route between Whitley Bay town centre and Preston Grange Morrisons, then run via Preston Road and Albion Road to North Shields. Buses will follow the same circular route as the 53A and 57 in North Shields town centre. Buses will serve all stops between North Shields town centre and South Gosforth Victory Inn, then call at Barras Bridge (towards Newcastle only) and the Haymarket bus station. All journeys (in both directions) will run to the first roundabout in Quorum. Service X8/X9 Newcastle - Whitley Bay These services will no longer operate, but will be partly replaced by the new X6 service and also X9, 306, 308, 53, 53/53A, X6 services NEW Service X9 Newcastle – Cobalt Business Park New, faster commuter express service to Cobalt Business Park. From Cobalt Business Park, the service runs via Silverlink North, Quicksilver Way, Cobalt Park Way, Middle Engine Lane, A1058 Coast Road, Stephenson Road, Cradlewell By-pass and St Mary’s Place to the Haymarket Bus Station. Buses serve all stops between Cobalt Business Park and the A1058 Coast Road at Willington Square, then limited stop to Newcastle calling only at the Civic Centre, St Mary’s Place and Haymarket bus station

Service X12 Newcastle - Blyth This service will no longer operate. Currently only runs two services each way a day, these will now be served by X10, X11 and X13 Service X13 Newcastle - Blyth This route will remain as it is now. Sunday service 41 journeys will run as X13 and follow the standard Monday to Saturday route, which will remain the same. Service X14 Newcastle - Morpeth Will change from an hourly service to a 30 minute frequency. At school times the service will run to Stannington Village, Stannington Station and Hepscott Park for students. New stopping arrangements apply.

arrivabus.co.uk Service X15 Newcastle - Alnwick / Berwick- This will operate the route as the current 501/505, except that no buses will serve Lancaster Park in Morpeth. upon-Tweed Hourly between Newcastle and Alnwick and 2 hourly between Newcastle and Berwick. The villages of Felton and Shilbottle will form part of the standard route and will receive an improved hourly service. Variations will serve Brownieside, Waggonway Road (as well as South Road) in Alnwick and the Duchess High School in Alnwick at school times.

Service X18 Newcastle - Alnwick / Belford / This will operate the same route as the current 518 between Newcastle and Alnwick, except that buses will not serve Berwick-upon-Tweed Pegswood Estate, Stannington and Widdrington Council Estate. Buses will run via the current 501 route between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed, except that they will not serve railway station. Buses will serve the railway station on the section of route between Newcastle and Alnwick. Buses will serve North Sunderland all-year round and not run via St Aidans (the seafront road) in Seahouses. The variations that apply to the 501 for serving Boulmer, Duchess High School in Alnwick and Howick (on Sundays) will also apply to the X18.

Service X19 Newcastle - Doxford Business A new service which will half travelling time between Newcastle and Doxford Park. This new service provides two Park journeys per day each way between Newcastle and Doxford Business Park, timed to meet the most popular work start/finish times. From , buses will run via Percy Street, Newgate Street, Bigg Market, Groat Market, St Nicholas Street, High Level Bridge, Wellington Street, West Street, A184 Prince Consort Road, Interchange, High West Street, Sunderland Road, , Shields Road, A184, A184 Newcastle Road and A19 to Doxford Business Park. Buses from Newcastle will run along City Way to the roundabout at the junction of Doxford International, then run back along City Way, Emperor Way and Admiral Way terminating at Greggs Bakery. Buses from Doxford to Newcastle will start from Greggs Bakery and run via Admiral Way, Emperor Way and City Way to the A19 Service X20/20 Newcastle - Ashington / This route will remain as it is now between Newcastle and North Seaton roundabout (at the junction of the A189 and B1334). Buses will then run via the B1334, Fairfield Drive, Alexandra Road and Woodhorn Road to Ashington Bus Station. Buses then follow the current service 1 route between Ashington and Amble, but omitting Widdrington Council Estate. This means that in Widdrington buses will serve Mile Road and the B1337 only. They will not cross the railway in Widdrington. The new X20 will create direct links between Newcastle - Ellington - Lynmouth - Woodhorn Village. The section between Wansbeck and Newbiggin will be withdrawn but will be served by the X21.

arrivabus.co.uk Service X21 Newcastle - Newbiggin This service will operate via the current X22 route between Newcastle and Bedlington, then the existing X21 route between Bedlington and Newbiggin every 20 minutes. Buses will serve both the Cresswell Arms and Seacrest Road in Newbiggin, as they do now. The combined X21/X22 services will offer a great new 10 minute frequency between Ashington - Bedlington - Newcastle.

Service X22 Newcastle - Ashington This service is being enhanced to run every 20 minutes between Newcastle and Ashington but buses will run via the current X21 route between Newcastle and Bedlington. In Bedlington, buses will run via Front Street West, Vulcan Place and Schalksmuhle Road then via the existing X22 route to/from Ashington Bus Station. The section between Ashington Bus Station and North Seaton is being replaced by service 57. The combined X21/X22 services will offer a great new 10 minute frequency between Ashington - Bedlington - Newcastle.

Service X40 Newcastle - Great Park This is the same route as it operates now, there will be minor alterations to the timetable that will enhance this service at peak times to run up to every 10 minutes.

Service X65 Morpeth - Berwick-upon-Tweed This will follow the same X65 route between Morpeth and Alnwick via Felton, Swarland, Newton-on-the-Moor, Shilbottle and Shilbottle Grange. Buses will then follow the current 505 route (the new X15 route) between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed

Service M8 Morpeth - Kirkhill This service will no longer run, but the Kirkhill Estate will still be served in parts by the service 2
