NCDOT’s Paradigm Shift
• BUISNESS MODEL – Organizational Restructure; Central Units and Divisions – Responsive Customer Service – Accelerated Project Delivery !! – Alternate Funding; Build NC Bond Act of 2018, a new financing tool to help expedite critical highway projects. Signed into law June 20, 2018. $300 mil/year for 10 years.

Current Workload
• Maintenance-Operations: 11 independent work units, manages a $30 - $40 mil annual operating budget, $38 mil resurfacing budget, and a $7- $8 mil bridge replacement program. $90 mil STIP funding Interstate Maintenance
• Construction Program: 4 Resident Engineer Offices. 83 projects under construction with 10 active local projects. 3 High Profile projects: I-77 Managed Lanes, Interstate 85, and the Monroe Expressway. Upcoming I-485 Design Build-Managed Lanes (I-5507) lets Sept 19 2018 with construction anticipated to start summer 2019.
• Project Development Team: 70% of STI projects, 40% of the budget. Currently managing planning and design for 63 STI projects, 57 DDC projects, 46 bridge replacements, and providing oversight for 62 local projects.

• 44 Bridges overtopped or damaged • Currently 47 roads closed (44 in Anson County) • Had over 180 roads closed earlier this week • Deploying 4 additional NCDOT Crews to Anson County this week. • Assessing all routes in Cabarrus, Stanley, Union, and Anson Counties for Damage. • Will draft contracts for repairs not completed by NCDOT
