BUS SERVICE CHANGES IN DARLINGTON, RICHMOND, CATTERICK, BARNARD CASTLE, NEWTON AYCLIFFE, BISHOP AUCKLAND, CROOK & TOW LAW Commencing Sunday 24th March 2013 Service Route Changes 1, 1b, X1 Darlington - Shildon - Bishop There will be a major timetable and route revision to this service. Auckland - Crook - Tow Law Most daytime Service 1/1b journeys will run between Darlington College & Bishop Auckland only and will be renumbered to Service 1. Service X1 will be revised to continue to provide a half hourly service between Darlington & Crook with an hourly extension to this to Tow Law in place of the 1b. Connections to/from Service 1/X1 are available at Bishop Auckland Bus Station. In Darlington, peak time only buses will continue to extend to Lingfield Point, with most off peak journeys extending to Darlington College. We are also offering a 15 minute frequency between Service 1 and X1 from both Darlington and Bishop Auckland for the majority of the day, which is an improvement on our current timetable. Most Service 1 journeys will continue from and/or arrive as Service 5/5a in Bishop Auckland. Evening & Sunday services will continue to operate as Service 1b with no changes. 4 Darlington - Minors Crescent A minor timetable revision will come into place, which may see some early morning amendments and Sunday journeys retimed to aid punctuality. 5, 5a Darlington - Newton Aycliffe - There will be a significant route and timetable revision to this service. Bishop Auckland Journeys between Newton Aycliffe & Darlington will remain roughly the same, but may be subject to minor changes by a few minutes in certain places along this section. Within Newton Aycliffe, Service 5a will be revised to operate via Greenfield Way instead of Meadowfield Way. Service 5 remains unchanged. Due to this route change, times between Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland will be amended, allowing us to standardise buses to a 30 minute headway between these two points, a further improvement over our current timetable. Evening and Sunday buses will change route slightly to operate via Greenfield Way as per the daytime route, with minor timetable amendments due to this. Service Route 6, 6a Darlington - Whinbush This service will see a significant timetable change to evening Service 6a. Also, as work is expected to be completed on Thompson Street railway bridge at the end of March, daytime Service 6 is planned to revert back to a previous route of Fitzwilliam Drive and Thompson Street, rather than Salters Lane (evening Service 6a will continue to operate via Salters Lane). N.B. If the railway bridge is re-opened before 24th March, we will revert to previous route earlier at short notice. 9, 10 Darlington - Whinbush/Springfield This service will see a significant change to timetable, with buses still continuing to run every 10 minutes, combining to a 5 minute frequency across common sections of the route. There will be no change to the route and buses off peak will no longer change service number in Darlington, reducing confusion for our passengers at their request. 12, 12a Hurworth - Trees Park Village A very minor timetable change will see the first two journeys from Darlington to Trees Park Village withdrawn on a Monday to Friday due to low passenger usage. 13a, 13b Darlington - Firth Moor This service will see a significant timetable change, however buses will still continue to operate every 5 minutes between Darlington and Firth Moor during the day. We have made some changes to running times to more accurately reflect the traffic conditions and to further aid punctuality. 14, 14a Skerne Park - North This service will see a significant timetable change. Road/Harrowgate Farm Buses will still continue to run to the same frequencies as now, however some changes are in place affecting early morning journeys and also evening journeys are retimed. Sunday journeys are also retimed and will terminate at Northgate instead of Tubwell Row, but passengers can stay on the bus to Tubwell Row if they wish, as the bus will cross Darlington onto Service 4. 19 Darlington - West Park This service will see some minor timetable amendments to aid punctuality. The 2300 ex Darlington journey is withdrawn, however an alternative 2310 journey on Service 1 to Faverdale will operate. Sunday journeys are further curtailed due to low passenger usage and will operate hourly between Darlington and Faverdale only. Service Route 75, 76 Darlington - Barnard Castle This service will see a timetable change that will primarily affect peak time journeys to aid punctuality. Evening services will be extended to offer a later alternative from Darlington and return from Barnard Castle. Sunday timetable will see some underused journeys withdrawn.
