CPF16019 Torrance Playpark and Greenspace Project Title West Balgrochan Marsh Biodiversity Totem Award £1,000.00

Funding to commission a biodiversity totem pole to be inserted alongside the main marsh path at Torrance Playpark. Torrance Primary School pupils will provide drawings of the animals and plants that they would like to see on the totem.

Funding to enable some improvements and upgrading of the garden for sheltered housing complex residents who are elderly and infirm. This includes erecting a new greenhouse, new seating areas and planters.

Funding to enable the installation of carvings for the nature reserve with volunteers with local school children involved in field trips to learn about the biodiversity of the nature reserve and to then choose the animals they wish to see produced as carvings.

Funding to increase the biodiversity of the site through the planting of nectar rich, attractive marshy grassland wildflower species.

CPF1601 Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pairce Parents Counci (otherwise known as Parkside Primary) Project Title Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pairce Forest School Award £1,000.00

To provide a contribution to waterproofs to allow children and adults to participate fully in future Forest School sessions throughout the year in Pilrig Park. This will equip participants to take part in any opportunities for community environmental education and activity that arise close to the school, for example clean up days and planting days with the Friends of Pilrig Park (FoPP).

Funding to support planting 1000 trees in Leith. Using social media networks and volunteers, the aim is to engage with individuals, neighbourhoods and communities, schools and local groups, as well as businesses and the council, to plant 1,000 trees in Leith.

Funding to grow a wider variety of vegetables, create a moss wall mural, build a polytunnel to grow herbs, fruit and vegetables all year round and create a new seating area with a barbeque for community groups. Funding also covers volunteer expenses.

Funding to support children with additional support needs to develop a largely disused area of natural woodland within playground to create an ideal outdoor learning environment to develop increased knowledge and understanding of a holistic and healthy lifestyle through physical and mental endeavour and problem solving. This outdoor learning environment will also be available to community organisations, such as local nurseries, parent/child groups and other primary schools to increase social interaction and the usage of the land.

Funding to purchase tools and equipment to support an employability garden project. The organisation lends out garden equipment to lay gardeners in exchange for voluntary hours. Voluntary hours are then used to carry out improvements to neglected greenspaces within the community.

To support this afterschool club to develop a Wildlife Wonderland within an area of the school ground. The afterschool club is working with the local community, partners including Local Energy Action Plan (LEAP) and Starling Learning (RSPB) to encourage thriving wildlife. The club have approached local businesses to engage with this. The wildlife wonderland will be accessible to children and community during week and weekends.

To create a nature trail in Overtoun Park, Rutherglen, by relief carving plant/wildlife themed images on to 18 tree stumps left as a result of a recent tree work by Council. This will also result in the development of an associated educational resource pack which will be made available to different groups in the area. The nature trail will be free and open to use by the whole community.

Funding to support planting and maintaining wildflower meadow areas within Holmhills Wood Community Park. Ornamenting these sites with fun sculptures and signage will also add further interest and enjoyment for visitors.
