The purpose of the paper was to point out the importance of Opatija Riviera as a tourist destination in function of contributing the development of a Croatian tourist product. The goal of the paper was to give the presentation of the importance of researching the satisfaction with the offer of a tourist destination. It is necessary to reposition the current position of the Opatija Riviera on the tourist market and to, through adequate promotion of the tourist destination, increase the tourist turnover. In today’s world, transport is not just the act of getting to a wanted destination. Moreover, travelling by a certain vehicle can be a tourist attraction, if the tran- sportation means is designed to arouse the feeling of joy and excitement. The purpose of the study is to define the basic determinants of transport and transport infrastructure, and also to explore the role of transport in the development of tourism. The aim is to point out the interdependence of transport and tourism, considering that the development of transport infrastructure has encouraged the development of mass tourism. The authors analyse the importance of transport infrastructure and the quality of transportation means when it comes to choosing a destination for a tourist trip. In order to evaluate the role of transport in the sustainable development of tourism, experts analyse forms of transport which are a tourist attraction by themselves, and provide an overview of certain forms of transport. The study aims to identify essential elements and characteristics of the nautical tourism in Croatia. Croatia has very favourable natural conditions for the development of nautical tourism, such as a long coastline, a great number of islands, islets and bays suitable for leisure mariners, as well as favourable climatic and hydrographic conditions. Besides basic natural spatial conditions and development potentials of nautical tou- rism, special importance is also given to the development of complementary activiti- es. With a population of 105 million, Mexico is the 11th most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world. The nation’s capital, Mexico City, is the second largest city in the world. Mexico is composed by 31 states congregated in a federal representative democratic republic. The constitution establishes three levels of government: federal, state, and municipal. The federal government is constituted by the Legislative branch, composed by the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, the Executive branch, headed by the President who is elected for a single term every six years by a direct national election and is also commander in chief of the military forces, and the Judicial branch, comprised by the Supreme Court.1 Recent Political and Economic Situation The economic policy from 1920 until the end of the 1980’s was based on a centralized economy driven by strong government intervention. During the 1950´s postwar years, Mexico pursued an economic development strategy of “stabilizing development” that relied on heavy public-sector investment to modernize the national economy. Concurrently, Mexican governments followed conservative policies on controlled interest and exchange rates that helped maintain low rates of inflation and attracted external capital to support industrialization.
