Little gold men, red envelopes and Hollywood’s biggest night. Stars packed into the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday for the 90th Academy Awards. Hosted for a second time by late-night favorite Jimmy Kimmel, this year’s ceremony was the first Oscars to air in the wake of Hollywood’s recent reckoning with sexual harassment and assault. Guillermo del Toro’s ravishing romantic fantasy “The Shape of Water” led the pack with 13 nominations, and ended the night with four wins, including Best Director and Best Picture. It was the first sci-fi movie ever to win the award. The genre-defying “Get Out,” certainly the most timely of the films up for Best Picture, also scored four nominations. Director Jordan Peele became the first black director to win for Best Original Screenplay. Not every award was groundbreaking, though. Timothée Chalamet failed to upset the expected winner, actor Gary Oldman, for his star turn in the sumptuous “Call Me By Your Name.” The 22-year-old would have been the youngest Best Actor honoree in almost 80 years. Movie fans also had their eyes out for the typically male-dominated Best Director category ― shoutout to Natalie Portman ― which included relative newcomers Peele and Greta Gerwig competing against industry stalwarts like Steven Spielberg and Paul Thomas Anderson. While being sworn in said he would put up a wall between the US and Mexico so as to avoid immigration by illegal aliens from Lat Am; stemming from this fact and others, such as the renegotiation of NAFTA the relationship between countries has suffered. As a result, there is now the need for organisations to invest in redefining basic marketing strategies and ways of thinking (Lei & Slocum, 2002), such as strategies through creativity and innovation (Woodman et al., 1993; Chen et al., 2011; Mehta et al., 2014), to keep up with global competition, solve organisational problems (McMullan & Shepherd, 2006) and sustain their position in the market (Grant, 1996). Katzell (1994) describes these organisational changes as necessary due to ever changing factors such as technology, the economy, politics, social and corporate differences. A short film is defined as an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits. B. This excludes from consideration such works as: 1. previews and advertising films 2. sequences from feature-length films, such as credit sequences 3. unaired episodes of established TV series 4. unsold TV series pilots II. CATEGORIES An award shall be given for the best achievement in each of two categories. A. Animated Short Film An animated film is defined as a motion picture in which movement and characters’ performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique, and usually falls into one of the two general fields of animation: narrative or abstract. Some of the techniques of animating films include but are not limited to hand-drawn animation, computer animation, stop-motion, clay animation, pixilation, cutout animation, pinscreen, camera multiple pass imagery, kaleidoscopic effects created frame-by-frame, and drawing on the film frame itself. Motion capture and real-time puppetry are not by themselves animation techniques. An animated short has a running time of 40 minutes or less. An animated feature film has a running time of more than 40 minutes. In an animated film, animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture's running time. In addition, a narrative animated film must have a significant number of the major characters animated.
