Invited by Balanchine to join the company in 1978; promoted to Principal in 1984. Performed over 50 principal roles in the Balanchine/Robbins repertoire, and originated new roles in two Balanchine works as well as new works by and Peter Martins.

Performed lead roles on Broadway and television including:

Song and Dance: Originated Broadway production co-starring Bernadette Peters. Tony Award Nomination. On Your Toes: Broadway touring production with Leslie Caron Featured solo in Dr. Pepper commercial filmed by Gordon Willis. Featured performance at the Kennedy Center Honors for Jerome Robbins. Choreographed and performed at the Kennedy Center Honors for Jacques d’Amboise. He Makes Me Feel Like Dancing: Oscar- and Emmy-winning documentary. ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

Artistic Director / Pennsylvania Ballet / Philadelphia / 1990-1994

Led the company through 4 successful seasons. Directed all aspects of the company including teaching, training curriculum, repertoire, employee management, short- and long-term goals and community development.

Managed artistic sta of over 120 people, including 38 dancers, 50 musicians, production crews, designers, ballet masters and support sta . Negotiated with unions and collective bargaining.

Programmed annual seasons encompassing classic repertoire, contemporary works and new commissions.

Supervised production of over 72 performances annually at the Academy of Music and the Shubert Theater, including annual presentation of Balanchine’s THE NUTCRACKER.

Created 8 original works for the company including the full length THE PLANETS. Commissioned 16 new works from contemporary choreographers.

Created “O Center,” a contemporary dance facet of the company attracting new and young audiences.

Created and implemented outreach programs and community interaction.

Expanded The Rock School of Dance and initiated the first annual performance at the Shubert Theater.

Was an active spokesperson for the company in the community and collaborated with the mayor’s o ice on the cultural development of Philadelphia.

President/CEO / Pennsylvania Ballet / Philadelphia / 1991-1994

Appointed President/CEO aer leading the “Save the Ballet” campaign which raised 2.5 million from 10,000 Philadel- phia residents in two weeks.

Pulled the company out of bankruptcy and eliminated long-standing deficits.

Successfully restructured the company to balance the operating budget.

Restructured the Board of Directors, dramatically increasing the number of annual donors.

Restructured the development, executive director and marketing departments. Founder and Artistic Director / O -Center Ballet / 1987-1994

Founded and directed the OFF-CENTER BALLET, a New York City-based contemporary dance company.

Oversaw funding, budget and management of the company.

Created 6 new world premieres.

Commissioned 3 contemporary artists.

Performed at Dance Theater Workshop, Jacob’s Pillow and the Westbeth Theater in New York.

Moved the company to Philadelphia and merged it into a division of Pennsylvania Ballet; commissioned 12 contem- porary choreographers including Joe Goode, Doug Elkins and Tony Rissi.

Educational Outreach and Service / 1988-present D’AMBOISE / RESUME D’AMBOISE CHRISTOPHER

Created outreach programs for the Pennsylvania Ballet and O -Center Ballet including lecture demo programs, in-school demos, special events at the Pennsylvania Ballet’s studio space and a pre-performance lecture at the Academy of Music.

Founded a multidisciplinary program with director/actor Terrence Mann at the Academy of Art in New York City for theater, dance and writing students.

Created and developed an in-school lecture/demo program with the O -Center Ballet serving New York tri-state public and private schools.

Founding Member of Triple Arts, a summer theater program in collaboration with Western Carolina University.

Created and directed Summerdance, an annual ballet and modern dance summer program in Sun Valley Idaho; managed 60 students, guest teachers, choreographers and production sta .

Oversaw the direction of the Rock School of Ballet, a comprehensive toddler trough professional training curricu- lum at the Pennsylvania Ballet.

Created and directed the Rock School’s first annual year-end performance series at the Schubert Theater for the entire student body (135 students).

Directed and choreographed, along with the Rock School faculty, the first full-length school production, A Million Chameleons.

Conceived of a new Summerdance Intensive for George Mason School of Dance.

Oversaw the creation, design, marketing and implementation of the highly successful George Mason University Summerdance Intensive.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Heritage Professor / George Mason University / 2009-present

Taught intermediate and advanced modern, ballet, choreography, jazz, tap and rhythmic analysis.

Choreographed original work for the annual Gala.

Created a new curriculum for original video/choreography class.

Created a new curriculum for teaching choreography.

Created the Summerdance Intensive program for the university.

Raised money for the summer program.

Recruited and auditioned prospective students.

Received consistent recognition for excellence in student evaluations.

The Studio – Premiered South Coast Rep. 2006; won Garland Award; featured at the Pacific Playwrights Festival. East Coast premiere at the Signature Theater in 2007. Nominated for three Helen Hayes Awards. Hang onto Me – Original musical about Fred and Adele Astaire. Voice of the City – Original musical about the Vaudeville era. Can-Can – Contemporary adaptation of the Cole Porter classic. The Road to Find Out – Original musical about the life and music of Cat Stevens. Secret Notes at Barnes and Noble – Original musical (currently under option). Extreme Stage Right – Original play with music (currently in development). REVIVAL – Original musical in collaboration with Michael Paternostro, Paige Price and Kelly Crandall.
