Kait’s Korner National STEM Day coming Sunday In honor of National STEM (Science, Technology, Engi- neering and Math) Day on Sunday, Nov. 8, I wanted to tell you about some shows that encourage young girls to try their hand at science, technology, engineering and math. First on the list is , pronounced Project MC-squared, which had six seasons air on Netflix. The characters are from different backgrounds and have hobbies that tie back into STEM. One girl uses her love of chemistry to better her baking while another uses technology to express herself. The franchise also released science experiment kits that tied into the latest seasons of the show. Next up is Annedroids, a Canadian CGI and live-action show that can be seen on Amazon. The show’s aim was to educate children about STEM from the perspectives of an 11-year-old girl, her friends and her three Android creations. Annedroids can be watched on Amazon Prime. SciGirls is up next. The tagline for the PBS Kids show is “Science Fun for Tween Girls”. The show, at the time of its premiere in 2010, wanted to encourage young girls to pursue STEM careers to boost the low number of women in those fields. The show mixes animated segments with live-action to appeal to older and younger viewers. SciGirls can be watched at https:// pbskids.org/video/scigirls/. And, last but not even close to least, is the Texas Time Machine Science Guy. This show was a staple for many people who were in school in the nineties or even up to this day.
