Canopy, which has told investors it would turn profitable in the current fiscal year, said its adjusted gross margin improved by 1,400 basis points from a year earlier to 21%. The company posted an adjusted core loss of C$63.6 million for the three months ended June 30, compared with a C$94 million loss in the fourth quarter.

• Magna International Inc: The auto parts maker, whose offer to buy Swedish rival Veoneer was trumped by chipmaker Qualcomm, cut its full-year sales forecast, citing a slowdown in automobile production due to a semiconductor shortage plaguing the sector. Magna's revenue for the year is now expected to be between $38 billion and $39.5 billion, compared to a previous forecast of $40.2 billion to $41.8 billion. Net income attributable to Magna was $424 million, or $1.40 per share, in the quarter ended June 30, from a loss of $647 million, or $2.17 per share, a year earlier. Total sales more than doubled to $9.03 billion. "The second quarter of 2021 included the production disruptions due to the ongoing global semiconductor chip shortage," Magna said in a statement.

ANALYSIS CEOs and central bankers talk past each other on inflation The bosses of top multinationals are fretting about rising inflation but the very people responsible for keeping price growth in check - central bankers - seem unfazed. • Bombardier Inc: ATB Capital Markets raises target price to C$2 from C$1.75, after the company delivered better -than-expected second-quarter results.

• Lightspeed POS Inc: ATB Capital Markets raises target price to C$200 from C$150, driven by higher payments penetration in North America, and incorporating the launch of payments in Europe.

Inc: RBC raises price target to C$71 from C$69, saying the company’s second-quarter results were good driven by strong results in the U.S. and Canada.
