Sunshine Coast Lightning – ANC Team Expressions of Interest For 2021 Coaching Positions Position Title Australian National Championship Team Coaching Positions Department Coaching & Playing Reports To General Manager Performance Direct Reports Team Manager Position Type Honorarium Location Sunshine Coast &/or Brisbane Date July – September 2021 Introduction to Sunshine Coast Lightning The Sunshine Coast Lightning netball franchise is a joint venture between Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club and the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). Netball is the largest female participation sport in Australia. The Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) league is widely recognised as the best professional netball club competition in the world. The SSN competition showcases the Sunshine Coast region to a national and international audience. The Club has experienced enormous success in its first three seasons, competing in three consecutive Suncorp Super Netball League grand finals, winning back-to-back premierships in 2017 and 2018, and Minor Premiers in 2019 - making it the most successful start-up professional sporting team in Australian history. The Club has been just as successful off-court, attracting a solid membership base, a diverse portfolio of international, national and local corporate partners, sold out home matches at USC Stadium and incredible engagement with the local community. Position Purpose To deliver the Lightning ANC program by preparing the team to compete in the Australian Netball Championship Program Overview In 2021 Sunshine Coast Lightning will submit a team into the Australia National Championship (ANC) which will become the underpinning team for Sunshine Coast Lightning SSN team (SCL). The ANC program will offer chosen netballers exposure to an elite high-performance program, with a focus on athlete development. The Lightning ANC Team will provide a tangible pathway for selected athletes into the SSN, while also providing SCL Training Partners and emerging players invaluable elite competition. The new-look pathway competition, which replaces the Australian Netball League, will be fought out between state and territory member organisations and Suncorp Super Netball League clubs between September 11 – 19 2021 in the tournament-style event at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium in Traralgon. The event aims to bring together all of Australia’s emerging netball talent, including athletes, coaches, umpires and officials, for talent identification and development looking toward Suncorp Super Netball and international levels. Key Responsibilities • Promote and lead a high-performance culture in line with SCL visions and values; within the Sunshine Coast Lightning environment. • Fulfil all outcomes and responsibilities as a required and directed by the SCL General Manager Performance. • Design and deliver a holistic program plan for the ANC Team by including but not limited to; o Individual sessions, team sessions, match play and specialist court sessions o Athlete education and team bonding activities • Maintain and engage in open communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the duration of the program. • Provide regular athlete feedback through individual athlete performance plans, meetings, informal discussions and written reports with all key stakeholders and program partners. • Manage a strong working relationship with SCL coaching staff in order the plan and integrate the of SCL training partners in the program and contracted players who may be available for the competition. • Provide relevant reports from AMS to the SCL Coach and Service Providers when required. • Actively contribute and be present for meetings as required. • Manage and maintain the program equipment in conjunction with SCL staff. • Provide a written report and actively contribute in a post season review process as required at the end of the program. • Any other reasonable request made by SCL High Performance Staff. Key Selection Criteria Essential • Netball Australia Elite Level Coaching Accreditation or higher • Previous experience planning, implementing and evaluating netball training programs at a minimum State Representative level • Knowledge of SCL and Netball Australia’s athlete pathways • Understanding of holistic athlete preparation including sport psychology themes like team cohesion, mental preparation and goal setting strategies • Strong interpersonal skills including communication and leaderships skills with the ability to be a good role model • Current Blue Card/Working with Children Check Desired • Current first aid certificate • Level 1 and 2 ASADA certificates We are currently looking for applicants for a coaching team to work across July to September with the 2021 ANC Program. We are looking for interest in head coach, assistant coaching, and specialist coaching roles. Terms of the coaching positions will be discussed with individual applicants based on experience and final coaching team make up. An honorarium will be provided for the coaching services positions. The working hours will vary depending on the time and role dictated by the training program.
