RUGBY by Jack Malcolm IT was a game of two halves at Patutahi Domain on Saturday as premier- grade rugby was played without a crowd. Larsawn Ngatapa beat Enterprise Cars OBM 47-21 in a Civil Project Solutions senior club competition game, with the action live-streamed for fans after Covid-19 restrictions kept spectators away. OBM opened the scoring with a penalty kick but Ngatapa answered with a try. They capitalised on an OBM mistake at the back of the ruck. The ball squirted out unexpectedly, and centre Matt Raleigh picked it up and ran down the sideline, fending a defender into touch as he made his way to score. Ngatapa’s second try came from strong front-foot ball off the back of a maul that had gained so much momentum the forwards tripped over themselves as they made their way to the line. Ngatapa first five-eighth Ricardo Patricio caught the OBM backs watching the maul. He ran on to the ball at pace and through a gaping hole in the defence to score. Ngatapa kept up the pressure. OBM dropped an up-and-under and the ball was kicked on. OBM recovered the ball close to their line but couldn’t get the numbers back in time. Ngatapa quickly turned the ball over and winger Mike Livingston scored between the posts. As the first half entered its final 10 minutes, Ngatapa got a set-piece turnover with their players lined up outside.
