Form guide • Dinamo beat Panathinaikos 2-1 in Athens on matchday one and have won their three most recent home games against Greek sides – though one of those, their 1-0 success against Larissa FC in the European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals in March 1985, was held in Tbilisi. • Legia Warszawa and Dinamo are the only sides to have won all four of their group stage matches this season. • Having taken just one point from their opening four encounters, Panathinaikos can no longer finish higher than third in Group E. Trivia and links • Dinamo's Dutch left-back Alexander Büttner is one of the three most fouled players in the group stage so far; he, Richard Almeida (Qarabağ FK) and Bruno Gama (FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk) were infringed against 15 times each over the first four matchdays. • Panathinaikos's Croatian central defender Gordon Schildenfeld has been loaned to the club for a second season by Dinamo, having joined the Moscow side from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2012. • Panathinaikos's Swedish forward Marcus Berg and Dinamo's Hungarian winger Balázs Dzsudzsák played together for PSV Eindhoven from 2010 to 2011. The coaches • Dinamo coach since April 2014, Stanislav Cherchesov made his name as a goalkeeper with FC Spartak Moskva, 1. FC Dynamo Dresden and FC Tirol Innsbruck, and played international football for the Soviet Union, the CIS and Russia. As a player, he won three Austrian titles with Tirol, going on to coach FC Wacker Innsbruck along with a number of Russian sides including Spartak. • Panathinaikos coach Giannis Anastasiou was capped five times by Greece and played abroad with RSC Anderlecht, Roda JC and AFC Ajax among others. Briefly a first-team coach at Reading FC in England, he took command at Panathinaikos in May 2013. 4 FC Dinamo Moskva - Panathinaikos FC Thursday 27 November 2014 - 17.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Arena Khimki, Khimki Team facts FC Dinamo Moskva Formed: 1923 Nickname: Belo-Golubye (White-Blues) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • UEFA Cup Winners' Cup: (1972) Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 11 (1976) USSR/Russian Cup: 7 (1995) Ten-year European record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2013/14: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2012/13: play-offs 2011/12: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2010/11: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2009/10: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2008/09: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2007/08: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2006/07: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2005/06: did not compete in UEFA club competition 2004/05: did not compete in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 5-0 three times, most recently v Dundee United FC 09/08/12, UEFA Europa League third qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-4: Grasshopper-Club v Dinamo 16/09/87, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-6: Dinamo v Eintracht Frankfurt 14/09/93, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: Real Madrid CF v Dinamo 01/11/94, UEFA Cup second round second leg UEFA Cup/Europa League • Biggest home win 5-0: Dinamo v Dundee United FC (see above) • Biggest away win 0-4: Grasshopper-Club v Dinamo (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-6: Dinamo v Eintracht Frankfurt (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: Real Madrid CF v Dinamo (see above) Panathinaikos FC Formed: 1908 Nickname: Prasini (The Greens) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Champion Clubs' Cup: (1971) Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 20 (2010) Greek Cup: 18 (2014) Ten-year European record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 5 FC Dinamo Moskva - Panathinaikos FC Thursday 27 November 2014 - 17.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Arena Khimki, Khimki 2013/14: did not feature in UEFA club competition 2012/13: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2011/12: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2010/11: UEFA Champions League group stage 2009/10: round of 16 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2008/09: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2007/08: round of 32 2006/07: round of 32 2005/06: UEFA Champions League group stage 2004/05: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-1: Panathinaikos v FC Pirin Blagoevgrad 29/09/94, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg 5-0: Panathinaikos v AS Jeunesse Esch 30/09/70, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 0-6: FC Electroputere Craiova v Panathinaikos 16/09/92, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-4 twice, most recently v Bayer 04 Leverkusen 20/10/93, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round first leg 0-3 twice, most recently v FC Barcelona 24/11/10, UEFA Champions League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: FC Dinamo Bucureşti v Panathinaikos 01/11/89, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round second leg 5-0 twice, most recently v FC Barcelona 02/11/05 UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 5-1: Panathinaikos v Budapest Honvéd FC 09/12/87, third round second leg 4-0: Panathinaikos v FC Electroputere Craiova 30/09/92, first round second leg • Biggest away win 0-6: FC Electroputere Craiova v Panathinaikos (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 1-3 twice, most recently v R. • Home Advantage in European International Soccer: Which Dimension of Distance Matters?
Vol. 13, 2019-50 | December 09, 2019 | http://dx.doi.org/10.5018/economics-ejournal.ja.2019-50 Home advantage in European international soccer: which dimension of distance matters? Nils Van Damme and Stijn Baert Abstract The authors investigate whether the home advantage in soccer differs by various dimensions of distance between the (regions of the) home and away teams: geographical distance, climatic differences, cultural distance, and disparities in economic prosperity. To this end, the authors analyse 2,012 recent matches played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League by means of several regression models. They find that when the home team plays at a higher altitude, they benefit substantially more from their home advantage. Every 100 meters of altitude difference is associated with an increase in expected probability to win the match, as the home team, by 1.1 percentage points. The other dimensions of distance are not significantly associated with a higher or lower home advantage. By contrast, the authors find that the home advantage in soccer is more outspoken when the number of spectators is higher and when the home team is substantially stronger than the away team. • 5882 FC Rubin Kazan V
Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport Arbitration CAS 2018/A/5882 FC Rubin Kazan v. Denis Gennadievich Tkachuk & Russian Football Union (RFU), award of 28 August 2019 Panel: Alexander McLin (Switzerland), Sole Arbitrator Football Payment of bonuses Establishment of bonus by contract Interpretation of a bonus scheme in order to achieve its goal Club’s lack of financial means 1. The language of Article 135 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation (LCRF) specifies that wages of an employee are set out in an employment contract, and that “stimulation payments and supplements and bonus systems shall be established by collective agreements, agreements…”. As a result, the LCRF does not make the establishment of a bonus scheme obligatory per se, but rather states that where it exists, it shall form part of a contract and one which may be of a collective nature. If Bonus Regulations were established by the club and, as an annex to the employment contract, were incorporated therein, the Bonus Regulations constitute the document that binds the parties as to the manner in which they should be paid out. Their existence, and the fact that they provide for the payment of bonuses establishes that the payment of bonuses is mandatory by contract. 2. There can only be one correct interpretation if a bonus scheme is to achieve its goal of motivating the team to achieve the desired results. For incentive schemes of this kind to provide the necessary motivation, those striving to achieve this goal must be able to expect that payment of the bonus must be certain upon obtention of the result.

  • 3634 FC Rubin Kazan V
Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport Arbitration CAS 2014/A/3634 FC Rubin Kazan v. Fatih Tekke, award of 11 March 2015 Panel: Mr Manfred Nan (The Netherlands), Sole Arbitrator Football Contract of employment (outstanding salaries) Discretion of the CAS Panel to exclude evidence based on Article R57 para. 3 of the CAS Code Salary determined in an employment contract according to Russian labor law and Russian football regulations 1. Article R57 para. 3 of the CAS Code gives the Panel the discretion “to exclude evidence presented by the parties if it was available to them or could reasonably have been discovered by them before the challenged decision was rendered”. However, in accordance with the legal doctrine, such provision should be applied with caution, so as not to impinge upon the fundamental principle of de novo review by the CAS, only in those cases where the adducing of pre-existing evidence amounts to abusive or otherwise unacceptable procedural conduct by a party. 2. Neither article 57 of the Labor Code of Russia, nor article 7.1 of the FUR Regulations determine that the salary determined in an employment contract must be included in the salary determined in an annex. These provisions merely determine that a basic salary must be set out in the employment contract, but this does not prevent parties from determining that the salary agreed in the employment contract is payable in addition to the amount referred to in an annex. In addition, article 7.4 of the FUR Regulations does not determine that a player’s total remuneration must be established in annexes, rather, it provides that “the basic salary, additional payments and stimulating payments can be established directly in the text of the employment contract or, by parties’ wish, as an annex (additional agreement) to the employment contract”.
