The Commission has installed a telex with an automatic answering device which gives the conversion rates in a number of currencies. This service is available every day from 3.30 p.m. until 1 p.m. the following day. Users of the service should do as follows: — call telex number Brussels 23789, — give their own telex code, — type the code 'cccc' which puts the automatic system into operation resulting in the transmission of the conversion rates of the ecu, — the transmission should not be interrupted until the end of the message, which is marked by the code 'ffff. Note: The Commission also has an automatic telex answering service (No 21791) providing daily data on calculation of monetary compensatory amounts for the purposes of the common agricultural policy.

NOTICE OF RECRUITMENT No PE/44/S (89/C 156/09)

The Secretariat of the European Parliament in Luxembourg is planning to recruit, pursuant to Article 29 (2) of the Staff Regulations of officials of the European Community, one DIRECTOR (M/F) in the Directorate-General for Administration — Directorate for Infrastructure and In-House Services.

Directors are appointed at grade 2 of. category A.

DUTIES Senior official responsible, under the authority of the Director-General of Administration, for organizing, managing and coordinating work relating to: — all the institution's movable and immovable property in the three places of work and the towns, in which the information offices are located, — Conference Services logistics and staff.

He/she will be responsible for a number of divisions with a large staff complement and for conducting difficult negotiations particularly in the buildings sector.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED — University degree or equivalent professional experience. — At least five years' professional experience commensurate with the post and 'duties'. — Perfect command of one official language of the European Community (Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese) and very good knowledge of a second. Knowledge of other official languages of the European Community will be taken into consideration. — Nationality of one of the Member States of the European Community. — Age limit: 40 (date of birth before 25 July 1949).

Place of employment: Luxembourg.

This post will involve some travelling, particularly to Strasbourg and Brussels.

Remuneration at grade A 2 of the Staff Regulations of officials of the European Community.
