Pegah Edalatian-Schahriari BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN, Germany Candidacy for Global Greens Coordination. EGP Council in Tampere, Nov.2019
Dear Green friends, dear delegates, dear EGP member parties,
I would like to support the EGP with my knowledge and experience in international cooperation. This is why I decided to announce my candidacy as Global Greens Coordinator for the EGP.
Since 2012, I have been a spokeswoman for the federal working group "Global Development" at "BÜNDNIS 90 /DIE GRÜNEN" (Alliance 90/The Greens).
We deal with the issues of global justice and global structural policy. It is important for us to think and discuss the global challenges and the solutions in a European but also in a global way. We want to exchange ideas and cooperate with our partners around the globe. This is significant because we must implement social-ecological transformation on a global scale.
In 2018, I was allowed to participate as a delegate for the Global Greens at the COP24 in Katowice, Poland. In Katowice, we decided to set up a „Global Greens Climate Working Group“ to collaborate on climate protection. Following the UN climate conference, we jointly organized a webinar that gave me the opportunity to share my experiences as a delegate to Greens all over the world. I remember my in- ternational heart beating faster because of joy when more than 50 Greens from all over the world took part.
Before the UN climate summit, which was held in New York in September this year, we launched a Glo- bal Greens campaign for climate protection and Greens from around the globe took part. We wanted to create global Green visibility because in today's globalized world we must succeed in networking and working for climate justice.
If you have any questions concerning my candidacy, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Pegah Edalatian
