Once again we recognize the successes of our students and the activities of our faculty and alumni, and offer news of two recent initiatives: the development of a new concentration in public history, and our new summer study abroad program in Maynooth. Speaking as the new chair of the Department, however, I would like to take a moment to recognize the accomplishments of our outgoing chair, Dr. Alison Parker. Dr. Parker has just completed an extraordinary three-year term as chair of the history department, in which she administered the department with grace, guiding us through the shallows, and moving us upward in our never-ending quest for the highest quality in teaching and pursuit of the serious scholarship productivity that undergirds any quality pedagogical program. Indeed, Dr. Parker is a leader in that area, having won the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship last year. In resuming her regular teaching duties, she leaves the Department well positioned to continue providing an excellent education. Her signature accomplishment was to bring to fruition our long struggle to ensure that every student in a history course at The College at Brockport benefits from the teaching of a full time, tenured, or tenure-able faculty member with a PhD and a record of sustainedDr. Lloyd withscholarly Amy Piccareto engagement at the Historywith peers Honors on Ceremonythe national or international level, which promotes the scholarly and academic reputation of the Department. Two other important steps were taken under her leadership. We have inaugurated a promising pedagogical experiment to reduce the size of our introductory courses to 25 and restructure the curriculum to make these seminars writing-intensive with a focus on honing students’ cognitive and communication skills as they read, analyze, and write about history. Equally significant, Dr. Parker led us through the complex and demanding Periodic Program Review in academic year 2011-12, mandated by the College. This involved an extensive self study and then inviting two experts to visit and evaluate our work. They concluded that “The curriculum is distinguished by genuine rigor,” and found “the pedagogical environment in the department to be truly admirable.” They praised our program lavishly, due in no small part to Dr. Parker’s efforts. NASCAR, a sport that has experienced a recent boom in popularity, is one of the most lucrative sponsorship venues in professional sports. NASCAR, which began as a single race in 1936, now claims seventy-five million fans and over one hundred FORTUNE 500 companies as sponsors. NASCAR offers a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities, such as driver sponsorship, event sponsorship, track signage, and a number of other options. This paper investigates the fan base at which these marketing messages are directed. Research of NASCAR fans indicates that these fans are typically more brand loyal than the average consumer. NASCAR fans exhibit particular loyalty to NASCAR sponsors that financially support the auto racing sport. The paper further explains who composes the NASCAR fan base and how NASCAR looks to expand into additional markets.

We are working with Community Planning Partnerships involved in the design and delivery of public services (Aberdeenshire, Fife, Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire) to: learn what is and what isn’t working in their local area encourage collaborative learning with a range of local authority, business, public sector and community partners better understand what effective policy interventions and effective services look like promote the use of evidence in planning and service delivery help organisations get the skills and knowledge they need to use and interpret evidence create case studies for wider sharing and sustainability A further nine areas are working with us to enhance learning, comparison and sharing. We will also link with international partners to effectively compare how public services are delivered here in Scotland and elsewhere. During the programme, we will scale up and share more widely with all local authority areas across Scotland. Millions of our nation’s citizens have moved through the primary, middle and secondary schools which, although they vary slightly from region to region, provided a shared experience and are a part of Americana. History tells us the reasons that school systems used only a 10 month calendar were due to agrarian needs, but in recent years this rationale does not seem as applicable. In light of global competition and America’s consistently poor international rankings, it would seem logical conclusion to extend the school year to increase instructional time. But the move to year-round schooling isn’t so easy, nor is it unanimously embraced by parents, community members, businesses or politicians.     Rule 23A: Standard Parenting Time Guidelines 23A.01 In General The Court strongly encourages parents to create their own cooperative parenting time schedules tailored to the specific needs of their children, the parents’ respective work hours, and the collective needs of each household. To help create a workable schedule, parents are urged to read “Planning for Parenting Time: Ohio’s Guide for Parents Living Apart,” available on the Domestic Relations website at www.lakecountyohio.gov/dr. There are sample parenting time schedules in the guide. For parents who are unable to agree on a parenting schedule, the Court sets forth in this Rule a plan to ensure the minor children have frequent and consistent contact with both parents. The Court’s plan reflects: (1) The preservation and development of a close relationship between the children and each parent; and, (2) Consideration of the changing developmental needs of the children. If parents cannot agree on their own plan or the Court’s plan due to objections because of special circumstances (such as travel time, work requirements, substance abuse, mental illness, or violence), the parents must be prepared to present specific facts in a hearing for a proposed plan which considers the best interests of the children, not the parents. 23A.02 Infants: 0 – 2 Months For infants younger than two months of age, the nonresidential parent may spend time with the infant in the residential parent’s home three days per week, for two hours per visit. INTRODUCTION The National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) has become the largest and most influential motor sports league in the world. Multi-million-dollar contracts for drivers, sponsors, and equipment make an investment into a team a huge financial risk. As a result, many teams are not created or created fairly. Most recently, Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR), which had committed sponsors and employees, was forced to shut down due to the economic costs of running a team.1 In response to this, teams formed the Race Team Alliance (RTA), a non-union association of team owners with a goal of getting more equity in individual teams.2 The RTA, in conjunction with NASCAR, formed a chartering system.
