Good afternoon and welcome to this our first game of the 2021/22 season. I would like to welcome Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers and their supporters to the seaside after a long layoff, all the best to both teams. Another season, another journey and the first time in the club’s history a match in the Premier Division and senior football. I would like to thank all our committee members for all their hard work over pre-season. Also I thank all the coaching staff and players for their efforts and I wish them the very best of luck for new season. We are always looking for new sponsors, so why not join us on this journey, if anybody is interested please get touch. We be great to see a few of you at Mundford on Tuesday night to cheer the lads on in the first away match of the season, it is a 7.30pm kick-off. Dave Page - Chairman From The Manager

Welcome everyone to Heacham FC. Today we make history as our club plays at the highest level in its history. After two seasons of lockdowns we were lucky enough to be promoted again due too the good efforts we made in the games we played. Today we host Dussindale & Hellesdon in what we expect to be a very tough match. Are aim is to stay in the league so hopefully we can get some points on the board today. After a very good pre season lead by Ross and Sean we feel ready and look forward to life in the Premier. A few changes on and off the pitch mean we are prepared as a club for this challenge. Come 2.30pm Ed Tann will lead the lads out and they will be pumped for this return to football, lets hope its a full season for all. I wish both sets of players and management the best of luck for today. The match is sponsored by Vice President George McNeil and the match ball is sponsored by North Beach Fish Bar we thank them both for their continued support. David Griggs Manager KINGS LYNN

Welcome to the “Sponsor Spotlight” we hope to see this become a regular feature spotlighting those businesses and people that play an extremely important part in our Club.

Introducing Double G Clothing, happy reading….. Having worked together since 1972 predominantly in the wholesale clothing trade, Gordon Chilvers and Graham Bennett joined forces and started Double G Clothing with no customers, but had previous experience of supplying independent retailers throughout the East of England. From very humble beginnings of a spare bedroom in Gordons bungalow and a mobile stock van! the business quickly outgrew this modest facility, making 4 major moves including their last one to a 7000sq foot warehouse at Horsley Fields Industrial Estate, King’s Lynn, PE30 5DD. The partnership witnessed many changes over the years, at one point having 6 retail shops throughout Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the changes to traditional high street shopping saw Double G adapt their business model accordingly, as of today “Identity” of Sheringham remains, selling ladies clothing and accessories. 2015 saw the team focus on the embroidery, print and engraving side to the business at King’s Lynn. All of this work is carried out INHOUSE with the sublimation print sportswear that was introduced 2 years ago being manufactured in India. They now offer in excess of 10000 various products with every type of Corporatewear, Workwear, PPE, Schoolwear, Sportswear and sports accessories. They supply the NHS, RAF, Police, colleges, schools, nurseries, playgroups and every trade and industry that there is with their requirements not only for the East of England but also nationwide! Most of their business is gained by word of mouth, the best advert that there is! For 25 years Double G have been involved in sponsorship initially at King’s Lynn FC originally sponsoring players leading to total sponsorship of KLFC Reserves for 16 years of which 1 season included the first team. At the same time they were working with various local charities such as Red Wellies and Reach For a Star along with various sponsorships with junior football clubs, martial arts etc. 2019 saw the end of their long standing relationship with KLFC, however following a casual conversation with David Griggs led to our initial 3 year sponsorship of Heacham FC, they also sponsor the Kings Lynn Community Football Elite scheme which has in excess of 250 children from the age of 7 to 16 being coached by an excellent team, in addition the whole of the College of West Anglia Sport department which enables students continue their education along with football, basketball and netball all based at Lynnsport. These changes have seen Double G become the leading local distributor of JOMA sportswear (suppliers to Norwich City starting shortly) along with Errea and the Flinch sublimation ranges. All of their products and a visual tour of Double G can be seen at www.doublegclothing.com. Clicking on catalogues. Any enquiries to [email protected] or telephone 01553 761047. History Of The Football Programme

Throughout the 2021/22 season we will be printing a series of articles by the author of the book ‘A History and Guide to Football Programmes’ describing how programmes have changed over a century-and-a-half of , and how important they still are to the game itself as well as the supporters. We hope you enjoy the journey!.

Setting the Scene

Today’s newspapers and magazines may use modern colour print and photographic techniques, but they would still be recognisable to a Victorian transported by time-travel to 1998. Similarly with other periodicals, and certainly with books. It is most unlikely, however, that our time-warped visitor would recognise the printed word as sold to him at a football match.

The matchday programme has undergone dramatic change since it first emerged as a means of identifying players in the 1870’s. Today, it is a glossy, colourful and sophisticated communications and marketing vehicle, sold in prodigious quantities and for sums far removed from the penny or halfpenny of Victorian days.

In the course of this series articles, the development of matchday programmes will be chronicled, and put into the perspective of contemporary life and the game they represent. Avid readers of modern programmes may bemoan the prevalence of advertisements, but these vital fund-raisers become fascinating historical markers as we roll back the years.

The local butcher, baker and candle-stick maker were present in just about every club programme, as was the local brewery, theatre (and then cinema), newspapers and menswear shops.

Local industries were prominent amongst the advertisements - razor blades in the Sheffield clubs’ programmes, vehicle and cycle accessory manufacturers in the Birmingham clubs’ issues, ship-builders advertising for workers on Clydeside. We can watch local economies evolve over the life of a club’s matchday programme by reading the adverts.

Trends within the game are, of course, apparent in editorials and features, while great teams, marvellous players, and some unhappy times in the game may be recalled from the playing and managerial personnel listed in the programmes.

If the content of programmes down the years is varied, then so are the formats and styles used by clubs and associations. From the simple teamsheet of Victorian days, listing players and their distinguishing features, to the colourful, glossy booklets of the 1990’s - the history of football programmes is as varied and interesting as the game itself, as we will discover over the course of this season.

Next Home Programme : Nineteenth Century Team Sheets Looking Back At The Senior Cup

As this is our first home programme since that special match at Wroxham in the Noirfolk Senior Cup, so we thought we would print the match report from Greg Plummer.

HEACHAM WORK HARD AGAINST A VERY STRONG WROXHAM TEAM Heacham came from three goals down to give Wroxham the fright of their lives in the Norfolk Senior Cup on Saturday. The Magpies' Thurlow Nunn Premier Division hosts coasted into a 3-0 lead inside the opening hour after skipper Ed Tann was forced off with an injury early on with suspected ligament damage in his knee. But Heacham, who could have taken the lead early on in the tie had it not been for a last -gasp clearance from Tom Huckerby, refused to buckle despite three leagues separating the two teams. Efforts from Royce Rawlings and Joshua Winner reduced the arrears and, in between Heacham's two goals, substitute Fletcher Toll saw a shot come back off the post. Heacham boss David Griggs said: "Even when we were 2-0 at half-time we couldn't fault the players and told them to carry on enjoying it. "The first hour of the game was a reflection of the gap between the two sides and it would have been easy for us to crumble. "But we kept going and I think if there had been another five or ten minutes then we might have been able to get a result. "On the day we took two out of four of our clear chances and they scored three out of three. "They were more clinical than us and they were also better on the ball, but you expect that with the level they are playing." As well as losing the influential Tann, Heacham's injury woes continued with Isaac Linford also suffering a suspected broken wrist after landing awkwardly on his arm.
