In 2012, he was selected as a National League All-Star aft er hitting .294 with 14 doubles, one triple, 13 homers and 51 RBI before the break. • 22 M Freese opened the 2010 season as the starting third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals aft er playing just four seasons of minor league ball. In 2009, he batted .305 with 93 runs scored, 35 home runs and led the team with 46 doubles and 114 RBI, and won the Edgar Martinez Award, which is awarded to the most outstanding designated hitter. He also earned the 2009 American League Silver Slugger Award as PPEARANCES designated hitter. On Opening Day in 2009, Lind drove in six runs against Detroit, which stands as a Blue Jay Opening Day record. He A was named American League Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 6. Lind was a third-round draft pick (83rd overall) in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft , and in 2006, was named the Blue Jays’ Minor League Player of the Year. He played the 2012 season as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, where he batted .307 and stole 37 bases. He reached the 500-steal milestone in June 2010, and is MLB’s career active leader in stolen bases with 614 entering the 2014 season. Pierre has had only one season in which he did not steal at least 30 bases in a full season of service - 2011. He led the NL in the category in both 2001 and ’03, as well as pacing the league in hits in 2004 and 2006. He is a career .296 hitter who fi nished in the top 20 of the National League’s MVP voting in 2003 and ’04, his fi rst two years with the Florida Marlins, while he came in sixth in voting for the NL Rookie-of-the-Year Award aft er making his debut with HAMPIONSHIPS the Colorado Rockies in 2000.
