An email or text is sent offering the recipient a prize for completing a survey. Bank information is requested to cover the shipping cost of the prize. This is a scam to get your bank information.

A legitimate survey will not ask for bank information to pay for a gift or reward.
Check the sender’s email address. If it is a bunch of random numbers and letters it’s probably a scam.
Check the greeting. Scammers tend to use generic greetings like “dear customer or friend”.
Check for spelling or grammar errors. Legitimate companies are diligent to insure their communications are accurate.
