ll employees are invited to "invent our future together" at the '96 strategy forums. WhyA? In today's fast paced, con stantly changing business environment, it's not enough for a few top executives to know what the business is doing and why. Companies succeed when all employees are involved in the process of satisfying customers. Being involved in the process means understanding the mission of the company, the customers - who they are and what they are looking for - Below: Thanks, Mary Lou, for selecting the opportunities, and the basic Merrimack Valley as the site of the business strategies for taking advan Network Systems Second Quarter tage of those opportunities. Now that the Olympic Games are over, most of the 'made at Merrimack Valley' equipment will be retained, creating a new infrastructure in the Atlanta area. Other equipment will be re-deployed throughout BellSouth's territory. And the more than 6,000 Merri mack Valley employees will take renewed pride and knowledge of their products to the next customer's order. eptember 20, 1995, must seem like a long time ago to most people, (if you don't remem- berS this historic moment, it's the date Bob Allen announced AT&T would into three companies). You remember now, we at Merrimack Valley became part of the "no name" company. On February 5, 1996, we all learned our new name - Lucent Technolo gies, bringing Bell Labs Innovations. Now there was some genuine excite ment. We raised a new flag to celebrate. Then in April two MV employees went to the New York Stock Exchange to witness the historic Initial Public Offering of new Lucent stock. MV hosted an Open House for over 5,000 employees and friends to check our new company out. Everyone got to see the new Future Quest line on the first floor, and the empty space now filled with more of those futuristic machines. If that wasn't enough, MV was selected to host the second qua11er Network Systems broadcast. And don't forget the '96 Lucent Orientation and MV Strategy Forums. Again, everyone gets to go and learn what this new company is all about. Also, there's a new cafeteria coming soon for all of us to enjoy. Along with a new auditorium, Pioneer store and Valley Club offices, photographer's studio, just to name a few. Photographer: there's something else that's new. The next issue of the
