ABOUT STATION: KTVF/KXDF/KFXF are the NBC, CBS and MeTV/MyNetwork affiliated stations serving the interior of with award winning local news, great entertainment and public service to the Fairbanks community. KTVF and KXDF, our news producing stations, have been the launching point for many journalists and producers who have moved up in the ranks and are now successfully filling key roles in stations throughout the country. JOB SUMMARY: The experienced candidate will lead development of content for KTVF (NBC), KXDF (CBS) broadcast and digital platforms. The KTVF/KXDF News Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating news staff and all efforts leading to quality, relevant content. The news director must use all available resources to make sure content is delivered to Interior Alaska across multiple platforms with trusted accuracy and timeliness. Strong leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and standards are a must.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Must be committed to managing compelling impact-driven newscasts • Great people skills with emphasis on coaching, motivating and mentoring • Must be creative with on-air and digital coverage of stories • Help research, gather and check news stories for on-air and online in the most accurate, appealing, timely and creative way using all sources • Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments • Enterprise research-driven packages under tight deadlines. Lead in story selection process through meetings • Follow and enforce clothing and appearance guidelines • Be willing to learn or possess a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history • Critique, positive feedback, and training are a must in this job; must be willing to coach and inspire on- air talent, reporters and producers • Perform other job-related duties as assigned • Must be able to handle several tasks at once • Must have flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays • Must be willing to learn producing and fill-in when given the opportunity • Will run day-to-day operations of the newsroom • Help plan special reports, promotions and other specials • Set schedule for news staff • Write, enforce and achieve newsroom goals and policies • Lead recruitment and hiring • Plan training for newsroom staff

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in television, communication or journalism related field is preferred • Basic experience with cameras, ENPS, editing is a plus • Experience with managing staff is a plus • Must have experience with legal and ethical issues in the news-gathering process • The successful candidate will have had at least 2 years in broadcast journalism or equivalent • Previous experience as an assistant news director or executive producer is a plus
