The group comprises Potential Significance (if unlisted) three buildings; the main house, a kitchen block and barn. The barn State Local None 271 9021 WINDSOR BRIDGE HISTORICAL HERITAGE OPTIONS STUDY DATA SHEETS OCTOBER 2009 is close to the north corner of the Integrity site, the kitchen block immediately House - High to the southwest and the main Kitchen Block – house runs parallel to the Bathurst Medium Street (northeast) boundary. There are three separate wells on Barn/Stables: the site. Low The garden has a number of mature trees including a substantial peppercorn northeast of the barn/stables. A more recent garage is located close to the southeast boundary, behind the line of the main house. The main house of Mulgrave Place is a substantial one and a half storey house with a jerkin head roof and verandah on the front (northeast) and southeast sides. It has a short rear wing at the south end of the southwest elevation. A verandah runs across the remainder of the rear elevation. A chimney is centred on the southeast wall. The house has rendered walls, coursed in ashlar and the roof is corrugated steel. -
C. Windsor Heritage Walk – Windsor Mall Precinct
C. WINDSOR HERITAGE WALK – WINDSOR MALL PRECINCT 2 km walk 1 hour Map nos. 25 – 53 Commencing at the waterwheel near Baker Street, this walk travels through the commercial heart of Windsor returning to Thompson Square via The Terrace. Along Windsor Mall and further along George Street, a variety of architectural styles may be observed above street level. Many buildings started their life as residences but were later converted to shop fronts as the demand for commercial premises grew. The walk also takes in several churches and the Windsor Reservoir, an item of industrial heritage significance. Please note that this brochure includes many privately owned buildings which are not open for public inspection and may be viewed from the public street only. 25. Baker Street Named after William Baker who had a grant in this area, this street is the location of the entry to the new Hawkesbury Regional Museum (opened May 2008) which features both permanent and temporary exhibitions which showcase the history of the area. Near to the commencement of The Mall may be found two early Victorian merchant’s cottages which give some example of the type of housing common in this area in the mid nineteenth century. On the corner of Baker and George Streets stands the two storey mid 19th century shop and residence of grocer and wine and spirit merchant Robert Dick. The business also incorporated the local post office and until 1874 was the Windsor branch of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney. Charlotte Hornery rented the property with her two daughters for 33 years from 1919. -

Listing heritage items OBJECTIVE: The community will have access to quality and timely information about statutorily-listed NSW heritage through the State Heritage Inventory and the legislative framework. The State Heritage Register The State Heritage Register is a list of places and items identified as being of particular significance to the people of New South Wales. It was established under the Heritage Act in 1996. There are almost 1,500 items on the State Heritage Register, of which approximately 50% are in government ownership. The ongoing work to make the register a comprehensive list of places and items of State heritage significance continued in 2001-2002 with the addition of 121 new items. Items can be added to the register by the Minister on the recommendation of the Heritage Council, following an assessment of their significance and consultation with owners and the community. Proposals to add items to the register are advertised for public comment. Items added to the Register One hundred and twenty-one new items were added to the register in 2001-2002. Key listings included: four items of movable heritage – the Lady Denman ferry, NSW Fire Brigades no. 10 number plates, New England Brass and Iron Lace Collection and the Rail Motor Collection – an important reflection of the growing diversity of the register; Hill 60 precinct near Port Kembla, an extraordinary site which provides evidence of Australia’s very rich Aboriginal culture, as well as WWII defence installations; sixteen National Trust properties, ranging from grand mansions to flora and fauna sanctuaries, giving official recognition to the heritage significance of properties presented by the leading community heritage organisation in the State; nearly 100 properties in the historic tourist precinct of Sydney’s Rocks area, a “bulk listing” which marks a major achievement by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and the Heritage Office in the management of government-owned heritage items. -
