    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 29, 2018 A’s Acquire LHP Buchter and DH Moss from the Royals Oakland Sends RHP Hahn and RHP Fillmyer to Kansas City OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s acquired left-handed pitcher Ryan Buchter, designated hitter Brandon Moss and cash considerations from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-handed pitchers Jesse Hahn and Heath Fillmyer, the club announced today. Buchter began the season at San Diego and was 3-3 with a save and a 3.05 ERA in 42 relief appearances when he was traded to Kansas City with Trevor Cahill and Brandon Maurer for Matt Strahm, Travis Wood, minor leaguer Esteury Ruiz and cash on July 23. He went 1-0 with a 2.67 ERA in 29 appearances with the Royals and combined for a 2.89 ERA in a career-high 71 appearances overall. The 30-year-old left-hander allowed a .187 batting average, including .176 against left-handed hitters and .141 against first-batters faced. Buchter was originally a 33rd round selection by Washington in the 2005 draft and is 8-3 with a 2.85 ERA and .174 opponents batting average in 139 games over three seasons with Atlanta (2014), San Diego (2016-17) and Kansas City (2017). Moss batted .207 with 22 home runs and 50 RBI in 118 games with the Royals in 2017. He hit all of his home runs as a designated hitter to rank fifth in the American League as a DH, and also made five starts at first base, three in left field and one in right field.
