THE FLAGSHIP STATION The University of California and San Francisco’s KGO Radio (810 AM) continue to enjoy the longest running broadcast relation- ship in the Bay Area. KGO has been carrying Califor- nia football since the 1974 season. The University and KGO reached an agree- ment during the summer of 2005 that will keep the Bears on 810 AM through the 2009 season. EVERY GAME COUNTS FOR CAL FOOTBALL IN 2008 Golden Bears Aim For Sixth Straight Bowl Appearance

he Cal football team has continued one of the more improbable renaissances in Tcollege football history, going from five straight losing seasons from 1997-2001, to six consecutive winning seasons under the direc- tion of head coach Jeff Tedford. With five bowl appearances in a row and top-10 national rankings in each of the last four years, Cal is now recognized as an elite program in the Pac- 10 and on the national stage. And head coach Jeff Tedford is determined to continue to build the Golden Bear program, starting with its tre- mendous fan base which has bolstered the team during his tenure. “Fans are so important to any football pro- gram and I can’t say enough about what it was like last year to come into Memorial Stadium and see all that blue and gold for the Tennessee game,” Tedford said on his online blog. “Over the last four years we are 20-4 in Memorial Sta- dium – and every one of our fans played a sig- nificant role in those wins.
