Circumstances Surrounding Death
On March 4, 2017, the three-month old child passed away after being found unresponsive by his uncle while co sleeping on the couch.
According to the family, the following information was provided and the investigation is closed.
1 On March 4 h, The uncle was at the home of the mother and children. The mother left the home at approximately 12:30 p.m. leaving the baby upstairs sleeping. The uncle fed the child some formula at around 2:30p.m. as he had awoken. The uncle laid down on the couch with- aid on his stomach on the uncle's chest. The uncle fell asleep while watching television for about three hours and when he woke up he found tha- was not breathing. The uncle attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) then called the aunt who also attempted CPR while he called 911. Paramedics arrived on scene and attempted to reviv- but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Department completed the investigation into the death August 27, 2017 with the following findings:

The Winter Haven Police department completed their investigation into the death of- No charges were filed nor arrests made.
The Medical Examiner's autopsy was completed by District 10 Medical Examiner, Stephen J. Nelson, M.D. with the following findings:
