COMPLIANCE TIME

Airbus anticipates that a dedicated Airworthiness Directive (AD) will be released to mandate the update of the Operators approved Maintenance Program (OMP) according to Airbus A300-600 ALS Part 3 Revision 01. The compliance chapter of this future AD will give an implementation period for introduction of the new or revised instructions and airworthiness limitations introduced by this Revision in the OMP. Airbus recommends Operators to consider the implementation of these changes in the OMP at the next scheduled opportunity in order to anticipate future AD requirements.

Accomplishment of maintenance tasks in SECTION 3 will also be mandated by the future AD and is to be accomplished prior to the new/revised intervals provided in this Revision, except for the items listed in the below table. For these items listed in the table below, a compliance time is provided for that have already exceeded or are close to exceeding the new or revised intervals. In such a case, accomplishment of maintenance tasks in SECTION 3 is to be accomplished prior to the new/revised intervals provided in this Revision or by the compliance time provided for each item, whichever occurs later. When applicable, the compliance time deadlines are indicated in the table below as advanced information for Operators in order to anticipate future AD requirements.

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS SECTION

SECTION 1. INTRODUCTION

1 GENERAL

The ALS Part 3 provides Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR) which are system related periodic tasks (with intervals expressed in aircraft usage parameter) established during the Aircraft Type Certification. These periodic tasks are required to have mandatory status in order to maintain an appropriate level of aircraft safety and shall be complied with as per EASA Part M.A.302 - Aircraft Maintenance Program. These tasks constitute operating limitations of the aircraft.

2 APPLICABILITY

The A300-600 ALS Part 3 applies to the following aircraft types, series and models:

AIRCRAFT TYPES AIRCRAFT SERIES AIRCRAFT MODELS A300 B4-601 A300 B4-603 A300 B4-600 A300 B4-620 A300 B4-622 A300 C4-600 A300 C4-620 A300-600 A300 B4-605R A300 B4-600R A300 B4-622R A300 C4-600R A300 C4-605R Variant F A300 F4-605R A300 F4-600R A300 F4-622R A300-600ST N/A A300 F4-608ST

3 MAINTENANCE PROGRAM PUBLICATION

The published maintenance program content is provided for aircraft operating up to the publication trigger quoted in the table below. Operation beyond these values requires an update of the ALS Part 3 data that are approved by the EASA. Should any operator envisage future operations beyond the quoted values, they must first contact Airbus for advice.

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS SECTION

4 DEFINITION OF ALS PART 3 CONTENT

4.1 CERTIFICATION MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS (CMR)

4.1.1 ONE STAR CMR (*)

One Star CMRs specified in ALS Part 3 are mandatory tasks and cannot be changed or deleted without the concurrence of the Primary Certification Authority (EASA).

One Star CMR task intervals quoted in ALS Part 3 are absolute limitations and cannot be escalated without the concurrence of the Primary Certification Authority.

4.1.2 TWO STAR CMR (**)

Two Star CMRs specified in ALS Part 3 are mandatory tasks and cannot be changed or deleted without the concurrence of the Primary Certification Authority.

Two Star CMR task intervals may be adjusted in accordance with an Operator's approved escalation practices or an approved reliability program.

This statement has been agreed on the basis that Operators with approved escalation practices or an approved reliability program make adjustments to their maintenance programs based on data collection and analytical techniques. It has been demonstrated that the use of such methods to manage a maintenance program does not give rise to undue escalation.

5 BASIC RULES

5.1 CLOCK STARTING POINT FOR CMR

This paragraph provides general rules related to the starting point for calculation of due dates or times for CMR identified in this document according to the different usage parameters.

For CMR tasks whose interval is given in Calendar time, the starting point to be considered is the date of Transfer Of Title (TOT) to the first Operator of the aircraft, unless otherwise stated in the delivery documentation of the dedicated aircraft.

For CMR tasks whose interval is given in Flight Hours (FH), the starting point to be considered is the date of Transfer Of Title (TOT) to the first Operator of the aircraft, unless otherwise stated in the delivery documentation of the dedicated aircraft. Considering the very low number of flight hours performed between first flight and delivery, and the methodology used to define CMR task intervals, EASA agrees to consider the date of delivery of the aircraft as the starting point for CMR tasks whose intervals are given in Flight Hours.

For CMR tasks whose interval is given in Flight Cycles (FC), the starting point to be considered is the date of the aircraft first flight, unless otherwise stated in the delivery documentation of the dedicated aircraft.

ISSUE: AUG 28/17 ALS PART 3 - SECTION 1 PAGE: 6/29

© AIRBUS SAS 2017. All rights reserved. Confidential and proprietary document.

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS SECTION

For CMR tasks whose interval is changed, the next accomplishment must be determined from previous accomplishment date unless otherwise stated.

The time to start the clock for tasks with applicability determined by post-delivery modification is the date of MOD embodiment.

5.2 EXCEPTIONAL SHORT-TERM EXTENSIONS

Since CMR intervals are based on statistical averages and reliability rates, an exceptional short- term extension for a specific CMR interval may be made on one aircraft for a limited period of time without jeopardizing safety.

The term "exceptional short-term extension" is defined as an increase in a CMR interval that may be needed to cover an uncontrollable or unexpected situation. Repeated use of such extensions, either on the same aircraft or on similar aircraft in the Operator's fleet, should not be used as a substitute for good management practices. Short-term extensions must not be used for fleet CMR escalation.

Unless noted adjacent to the task, for all CMRs (One Star and Two Star) identified in this ALS Part 3, it has been accepted by the Primary Certification Office (EASA) that short-term extensions up to the following maximum values may be granted without consultation with that office. Requests for extensions in excess of these values must be submitted with full justification to the Primary Certification Office (EASA) such that approval, if granted, can be given prior to their use.

(1) CMR controlled by Flight Hours (FH)

Extensions up to 10% or 500 FH (whichever is the lesser) may exceptionally be granted on CMR intervals quoted in terms of Flight Hours.

(2) CMR controlled by Flight Cycles (FC)

Extensions up to 5% or 250 FC (whichever is the lesser) may exceptionally be granted on CMR intervals quoted in terms of Flight Cycles.

(3) CMR controlled by Calendar Time

Where the repeat interval is 12 months or less, extensions up to 10% or 1 month (whichever is the lesser) may exceptionally be granted on CMR intervals quoted in terms of months.

Where the repeat interval is greater than 12 months, extensions up to 2 months may exceptionally be granted.

This paragraph in the ALS Part 3 is written to confirm to the Authority of the State of aircraft registry that exceptional short-term extensions of CMR intervals are permissible. Approval of such extensions rests with the Authority of the State of aircraft registry in the same way as it does for any other scheduled maintenance task interval extension.

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS SECTION

6 INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK

7 PRODUCTION CONCESSIONS, REPAIRS, ALS VARIATIONS, AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES AND ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF COMPLIANCE

Limitations of the ALS Part 3 may be superseded by instructions given in either a production concession, a repair solution, an ALS Variation, an Alternative Method Of Compliance (AMOC) an Airworthiness Directive (AD), or exemptions provided by National Aviation Authorities (e.g. exemption supported by ASAC - Airbus Statement of Airworthiness Compliance).

It is Operator's responsibility to refer to the applicable limitations.

When a limitation affected by a production concession/repair solution/AD/AMOC is amended within the Revision of the ALS Part 3 subsequent to the issuance date of the production concession/repair solution/AD/AMOC, Operators are requested to contact Airbus for guidance to establish impact on the production concession/repair solution/ AD/AMOC.

8 MODIFICATIONS/REPAIRS NOT DEVELOPED BY AIRBUS DOA CERTIFICATE EASA.21J.031

If an aircraft/component has a modification or repair embodied, that has not been developed under the authority of Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA) No. EASA.21J.031, and affects the content of the ALS, the Design Approval Holder (e.g. Supplementary Type Certificate (STC) holder) is responsible to provide any necessary adaptations of the ALS Part 3 airworthiness limitations.

TERM DEFINITION Month(s): equivalent of 1 calendar month (can be calculated as CALENDAR TIMES 1/12 calendar year). (Cal.) Year(s): equivalent of 12 calendar month (can be calculated as 365,25 days) Period of time given to Operators to accomplish maintenance tasks and/or replace items (at component or aircraft level) having exceeded or COMPLIANCE TIME close to exceed the new/reduced airworthiness limitations provided in the Revision/Variation An intensive examination of a specific item, installation or assembly to detect damage, failure or irregularity. Available lighting is normally DETAILED supplemented with a direct source of good lighting at an intensity deemed INSPECTION appropriate. Inspection aids such as mirrors, magnifying lenses etc. may be necessary. Surface cleaning and elaborate access procedures may be required. EXCEPTIONAL An increase in a CMR interval that may be needed to cover an SHORT-TERM uncontrollable or exceptional unexpected situation EXTENSION Unless otherwise stated, the use of this term in the ALS Part 3 implies FIRST FLIGHT that the life accumulated before the aircraft delivery date/ transfer of title date (e.g. as a result of test flights) must be taken into account. FLIGHT CYCLE (FC) A complete take-off and landing sequence FLIGHT HOUR (FH) The accumulated time intervals between "wheels-off" and "wheels-on" FUNCTIONAL A quantitative check to determine if a component/item performs one or CHECK more functions within specified limits IMPLEMENTATION The period of time allocated to Operators to update their approved PERIOD Maintenance Program The maximum period expressed in usage parameters between the INTERVAL completion of a task and its next due accomplishment A qualitative check to determine that a component/item is fulfilling its OPERATIONAL intended purpose. It is a failure-finding task and does not require CHECK quantitative tolerances Observation to determine that a component/item is fulfilling its intended VISUAL CHECK purpose.
